Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.
Matthew 10:39 (via love-your-bible)
Remembering Billy Grahamâs Son-in-Law, Danny Lotz
((Danny and Anne Graham Lotz were married for 49 years. Danny Lotz passed away on August 19 at the age of 78.))
However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given meâthe task of testifying to the good news of Godâs grace (Acts 20:24).
Danny Lotz spoke those words just three months ago but lived them out for many decades as he kept his faith through trials.
Danny passed away on Wednesday after a long battle with adult-onset type 1 diabetes that led to heart disease and regular dialysis treatments. He was 78.
His wife of 49 years, Anne Graham Lotz, serves on the board of directors for Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. As an evangelist, author and Bible teacher, Anne has followed in the footsteps of her father, Billy Graham.
A post on her website Wednesday called âDanny Lotz, Godâs Gladiator,â honored her husband, saying, âHe was more than a manâs man. He was Godâs man who triumphantly finished his race having fought the good fight, and having kept his faith firmly focused on the kingdom of God first.â
Danny accepted Jesus Christ many years ago while riding along with his dad and brothers over New York Cityâs 59th Street Bridge. At the time, he was a promising high school basketball player. He went on to to play at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His team won the 1957 National Championship in triple overtime.
But his most meaningful legacy began after a broken leg forced him off the team and he sensed God leading him to start the first chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in North Carolina.
Through his service with FCA, he met a young woman he called âthe most beautiful girl in the world,â who would later become his wife. Danny set up a dental practice in Raleigh, North Carolina, as Anne focused on ministry. They raised three children togetherâa son, Jonathan and two daughters, Morrow and Rachel-Ruth.
His diabetes diagnosis at age 50 was the beginning of many physical and emotional trials. A March 2015 Decision magazine article explained how Dannyâs friends nicknamed him âthe Gladiatorâ for fighting through illnesses that left him blind in one eye and deaf in one ear while enduring dialysis three days a week.
Danny was known as a devoted husband and father, grandfather and mentor, continuing to lead menâs Bible studies in Chapel Hill into this year. But most of all he was known for his devotion to Jesus Christ.
âHe moved to our Fatherâs House ⌠and received the accolade of his Savior, Lord, and King who presented him with the Crown of Righteousness,â his wifeâs post read. âWe salute you, Danny Lotz. And we will never forget you.â
Whenever you love somebody, thereâs usually a list. âI love you because of ___.â Your voice. Your hair. Your confidence. The way you crinkle your nose when you laugh. How you change your mind a hundred times at the drive-thru. How you bend down to a child to speak to them at eye level. How you look in a mean dress. But at the bottom of this long list, God always adds one more. He says, âI love you just-because.â No specific reason, not based on externals, and not even based on anything we say or do. It just is. Because we all get old and gray. We all change over a lifetime. The reasons that others love us never stay the same, because we are a people in progress shaped by the edges of time. God loves us when our souls turn ugly, when we are cowardly and crass, when we fail and stumble, when we lose patience at the drive-thru and set a poor example for children. He loves us when the dress stops fitting. He loves us when those whoâve seen our underbelly silently walk away. Our God is the God who stays when everyone else leaves. And when our voice fades, when our hair is gone, when we can hardly laugh without pain: God loves us just because. He canât help it. This is who He is, regardless of who we are, because His love does not reside in a list. His love is free. It is reckless. It is forever.

Why were you gone from the blog for a year ? Was is it only bc of the password issue?
The entire story would be rather difficult to put into words but all I can say is that my family and I went through immense hardships and my desktop also happened to crash so I couldn't access this blog and I wasnât too fond of using the app. I fell back into a deep and debilitating depression but I am happy and blessed to be able to say that each day I am growing in the Lord and thanks to HIM I am in a much better and brighter place. I am so glad to be back and I hope to meet many fellow believers and help people as best as IÂ can with Godâs guidance. God bless you!! :)Â
Grow in your faith. Do not let yourself become satisfied with how much faith you have. Desire more. Ask God for more. Pursue Him. Never be complacent. Always be passionate. And remember to thank Him in all circumstances.

I am back!
It is hard to believe that it has been an entire year since I have logged into this blog! I am so glad to be back. It took me a very long time to recover my password and many things have happened during my time away.
I look forward to connecting with all of you again & like before, my Ask Box is ALWAYS open :) God bless!
Eat food from farmers markets. Drink good tea each morning. Read books that make you feel. Paint, even if youâre awful. Write, even when you have nothing to say. Sit in the fresh air outside. Go on hikes. Swim in lakes and wade in streams. Sleep as long as you need. Work hard at what you love. Work hard at what you hate. Love unconditionally and wholeheartedly.
