Sometimes
Sometimes I just need to sit and think, possibly all day or for several days, but it feels like I’m wasting my time, like I’ve given up, and I begin to wonder if I’m depressed. A part of me knows that sitting and thinking is important and that new ideas, like hiccups, come out of it. Another part of me balks at the prospect of doing nothing for more than an hour or two. Then I start thinking of death, the ultimate doing nothing, and I’m overwhelmed by a sense of futility. This is usually when I start working on something.
