You can't change your past

“ you  also  deserve  good  things ,  quinn .”  words  laced  with  sincerity  ( he  was  incapable  of  being  anything  but  true  to  himself ) ,  lips  tugging  into  a  grin  as  he  tries  to  lighten  the  mood  that  had  heavily  dropped  down  between  them  today .  he  believes  her ,  that  she’s  sorry ;  he  sees  nothing  but  truth  in  her  eyes  when  he  looks  at  her ,  not  the  doubt  and  nervousness  he  saw  when  he’d  asked  her  if  she  was  seeing  finn  behind  his  back .  it  hurt ,  yes  –  he  loved  quinn  and  he  thought  finn  was  his  friend ,  but  that  didn’t  mean  sam  didn’t  have  it  in  his  heart  to  forgive  her .  grudges  were  petty  and  immature ;  he  didn’t  have  the  hate  in  him  to  hold  it  against  her .  “ i’m  positive  you’ll  find  someone  who  sweeps  you  off  your  feet  like  baby  and  johny  in  dirty  dancing  or  something  equally  cheesy .  we  make  mistakes  and  its  only  a  part  of  behind  human ,  right ?  don’t  beat  yourself  up  over  it .  we’re  okay .”

“Okay, so we’ve checked off all the beer, bourbon, liqueur, tequila, gin...” She trailed off as she went down the list, checking things off her notepad. It was still a little early in the day, around 4pm, so there weren’t many people in the club. Since Quinn was off from her main job, she volunteered to help at Blu Reale while they restocked on their alcohol. Looking over at her wife, she couldn’t help but smile at the sight of her looking so focused. She decided to take a break and placed her notepad down on the back counter of the bar, then walked over to Adelaide and wrapped her arms around her. “Hey there,” she whispered softly in her ear and placed a light kiss on her neck.

he  wasn’t  expecting  their  conversation  to  take  a  turn  to  the  emotional  so  early .  it  was  almost  as  if  quinn  was  suddenly  wearing  her  heart  on  her  sleeve ,  and  sam –  still  wounded  and  battered  from  the  turmoil  of  watching  the  girl  he  loved  cheat  on  him  with  finn  hudson  –  was  at  a  loss ,  confused ,  and  most  importantly ,  afraid  to  put  himself  out  there  again .  santana  was  cool ,  sure ;  when  she  wasn’t  telling  him  what  to  do  and  treating  him  like  a  disposable  handkerchief .  when  him  and  quinn  were  good ,  they  were  REALLY  good .  a  part  of  him  thought  that  maybe  she  loved  him  as  much  as  he  did,  at  some  point  in  their  relationship ,  but  it  was  hard  to  maintain  such  an  assessment  lately .  “ look ,  we  don’t  have  to  talk  about  it  quinn.  its  fine ,  i  mean  its  not  fine ,  but  i  forgive  you . i  get  it ;  he  was  your  first  boyfriend  and  you  never  really  get  over  your  first  love .  i’m  willing  to  turn  the  page  and  forget  it  ever  happened .  i’m  not  really  the  kind  of  guy  who  holds  grudges ,  i  promise .”

“  santana  kind  of  gives  me  crap  for  everything  i  do…”  he  laughs  it  off  though ,  gentle  and  chirpy  despite  the  tone  of  the  statement .  when  he  finally  gets  his  notes  in  order ,  he  takes  a  seat  on  the  floor  in  front  of  quinn ,  legs  crossed  and  hands  on  his  knees .  did  he  still  have  feelings for  quinn ?  the  answer  was  simple  –  you  never  got  over  your  first  love  that  easily .  “ i  don’t  really  think  she  cares  though ,  to  be  fair ,  i  don’t  think  she  LIKES  me  as  much  as  she  tells  everyone  she  does ,  so  we’re  cool .  you  and  i ,  i  mean .  us  being  here …”  he  takes  a  deep ,  nervous  breath .  “ what  i  mean  is:  even  if  she  wasn’t  fine  with  it ,  i  wouldn’t  care .  i’m  glad  you’re  here .”
