This Might Hurt

                                      ❛ aiden … ❜ her voice came out slowly, SOFTLY, not nearly as harsh as it had BEEN only a few MOMENTS prior. slight guilt began to run THROUGH her. he was trying so hard and he SEEMED so frustrated. she wished that she could GIVE him another chance but she knew she COULDN’T, not without forsaking a part of HERSELF. so, instead of offering forgiveness, she OFFERED a, ❛ you’re not a monster. you’re TRYING, ok? that’s all that counts. ❜

“I don’t believe you.” He mumbled, every ounce of energy he had drained from his system. He was tired, so goddamn tired of trying to prove himself. His attempts felt futile. “Y’know, I don’t really give a shit what anyone else thinks of me. They can all hate me, I couldn’t care less. But you--” He choked, biting down into his lip. Expressing his feelings was always a new concept of him. “Having you think ill of me is just...it’s painful. I need to prove to you that I’m more than my mistakes.” 

“Is that like, a trick question?” Scott paused for a second, listening to the other with pursed lips. “I mean, I’m not going to lie, it’s tough, but I think everyone deserves a chance to be saved or chances. Until someone is uh, rotting in the dirt, there’s always a chance they could change, that they could help. I can’t just write people off or kill them.”

“Not a trick question, I just don’t understand. Still don’t.” Aiden sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as he tried to think this through. He wanted to believe it, he just couldn’t convince himself of Scott’s words. “I don’t think I can wait around and give people the chance to screw me over again. It’s a risk I’m not willing to take. Fool me once...and that’s it. I can’t forgive and I can’t forget. Sure, I’m probably wrong for thinking this way but--I’ve been burned before.”

“You’re desperate, you’re trying everything and looking entirely pathetic.” Stiles’ brows lowered and her lip curled in disgust. “Guys like you should be neutered.” She explained, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear and shook her head. “Even if we were the last two people standing at the end of the world I wouldn’t dare fall for those words. You honestly looked these phrases up before coming to school, didn’t you?” At this point Stiles wasn’t even sure this would work on Lydia, as desperate as she was for a distraction. “If you have Maths first, it’s this way.” She announced before walking off. “You’re lucky you’re cute.” she mumbled, “Or you’d have a restraining order.”

“I saw a cute girl and I tried out my luck.” He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck as he shifted in the opposite direction she was going. “Looks like luck wasn’t in my favour. Oh well, not going to waste my breath where I’m not wanted.” He held onto the strap of his backpack and turned around, but took one last glance over his shoulder. “You’re right about one thing, though. I am cute.” A smirk tugged at his lips as he finally walked off. They’d meet again, he’s certain of it.

          ‘i just don’t like loud noises or small spaces and i don’t know any music people my age listen to.’ she shrugs; closes the fridge door and makes her way over to aiden at the counter. she takes a seat on one of the stools, frowning at him. ‘language. and still, no. don’t you have any other friends to go with? take ethan. he’s like a free friend you didn’t ask for.’

“I don’t even think they not what they listen too. Music is so loud you can barley hear anything besides the bass. I guess that might be unappealing to you.” He sighed, feeling ab it defeated. “Alright, let’s be real--I don’t have other friends.” He scoffed. “Besides, Ethan is busy. I already asked him. You’re all I got here. I don’t wanna be the asshole--The guy who goes alone. We don’t even have to go to a party, we can do something else if you’re going to be so fussy about it.”

“I used to think like that, but then I realized life was better when you have people suffering with you.”

“Well, it’s a lot easier when people don’t look down on your for your mistakes. I shouldn’t really be preaching, I’m known to hold a grudge. I’m just trying not to give a damn what other people think of me.”

         ‘i don’t like parties,’ she responds with a frown. she’s never been to a party before, but she doesn’t think she’d like them very much. she doesn’t know how to dance and she doesn’t know how to speak to people without them getting on her nerves. ‘and before you even think of it, no. you are not having a party at the penthouse.’

“How can you not like parties?” Aiden huffed, almost feeling personally offended. The omega hasn’t attended many parties himself but he loved the idea of it all. The loud music, flashing lights and crowded rooms of people dancing was what he thought normal teenagers enjoyed. “Shit, I don’t want to host my own party. That’s boring. I want someone else to do it. C’mon it’ll be fun I swear.”

“You say that like you have a lot of regrets.”

“That’s a tricky question. Some days I do regret it all, but put me in the same situation and I would do it all again. Sometimes you don’t get to make the ‘right’ choice when you’re trying to survive.”

“No, I’d rather own up for my own mistakes.”

“I wouldn’t be so quick to say something like that. People aren’t exactly forgiving. Nobody lets me live my mistakes down.”
