I want that first love feel That seems so real The one where we were too young to understand, but we knew somehow we had it all in the palm of our hands

I want to go back to the time where we knew we had it right Where grown-ups would try to stop what cupid did not Where what we felt for each other wasn’t based on lies Where the truth wouldn’t be able to hide behind those eyes

I want to go back to when writing how you felt wasn’t a mistake When love letters were treasured not something you can hardly remember I want to go back to a time when saying how you felt didn’t feel like a chore all in itself

I want to go back to when you brought a girl a flower when you picked her up on a date When everything I’m asking for wasn’t a lot of work It’s what was expected because it’s what they felt you deserve When they wouldn’t drop a line, but an entire sonnet Where somehow you always got what you wanted Without ever asking, but them actually feeling That innocent love that seems too revealing.
