BRILLIANT CONVICTION

01. This is an independent, private blog for Meteor Survivor. My portrayal is largely supplemented by the canon material given by the game as well as headcanons to fill in the gaps. I will make notes of canon divergence as needed, but there are no plans for that as of now. Note that I am a full time student and as such, the activity on this blog may become sporadic from time to time. My major is difficult and frankly makes me quite stressed, and I have to invest a lot of time in studying to be successful in school. Please bear with me, I will respond to threads and messages as soon as I am able.

02. This blog portrays mature themes such as war, blood, death, suicide ideation, and especially subjects of mental health such as depression, since my portrayal of Meteor struggles a lot with that in particular. I will do my best to tag everything as needed, and if there is anything specific you need me to tag for you, feel free to drop a message for me. I ask that you also tag triggers as best as you are able. If triggering content or NSFW is posted in excess and not tagged properly, I will likely softblock you. Furthermore, if you state in your rules that your blog doesn’t tag dark themes, especially themes regarding sexual assault, child abuse, and incest, it is highly unlikely that I will follow back. I will curate my dash based on my comfort, and it is my hope that you do the same.

03. I follow based on interest for writing or the passion people have for their muses. I'm fine with writing with other WoL characters and duplicates of Meteor himself, but please note that I will not be following self-insert blogs, as they make me deeply uncomfortable. In regards to WoL characters, there is no need to strictly default to writing an NPC verse with me, as I am open to writing interactions between two warriors of light. An NPC verse for my Meteor is in the works however, if that’s what you’d prefer to write. If you're interested, feel free to ask! I’m also not limited to FFXIV, and I am more than open to creating new verses to write for other franchises. If you want to write with me, don’t hesitate to ask, especially if we’re mutuals. I work best off of pre-established relationships when it comes to writing, so if that’s something that you’d like to do, my IMs are always open.

04. Shipping will not be a priority on this blog, and while I do write Meteor with some baseline of respect and familiarity with certain characters, I do not write him doing so with the expectation that the characters will be shipped, regardless of how close those characters are. If you do want to ship with my Meteor, I ask that you approach me OOC to talk about it so that we can discuss dynamics, otherwise I’m going to assume shipping will not happen at all. I also expect that you commit to the ship at least a little bit every now and then, and if I feel like you have lost interest, I will consider dropping you as a shipping partner. On this blog I practice one-sided shipping exclusivity, meaning that if I am shipping with a canon character, the blog I ship with will be the only blog of that character I write romantic and sexual interactions with, and for all other blogs the relationship will be assumed to be platonic or unrequited. This is a loophole left in because I understand that Meteor is a character who is something of a blank slate and can have vastly varied interpretations because of this. Therefore, I do not expect this to be requited, but it is appreciated if it is. However, if I feel like this rule is being abused so that people can ‘collect’ Meteors, I am going to change this rule and reevaluate who it is that I will ship with accordingly. I understand if you are enthusiastic about shipping with this character, but please respect my portrayal of Meteor.

05. Please do not heavily format posts in replies to me. If the reply is too heavily formatted, I may approach you OOC and ask that you simplify the formatting so that it is easier for me to read. Please do not follow me if you aren’t comfortable with potentially having to abide by that kind of request.

06.  Some of the icons I use on this blog are made by Aries @ dendrocluster and edited with his permission, but the rest of the graphics on this blog are either made with my own screenshots or using official promotional material. If art is used on this blog, it will most likely be my own, and if you need proof that I made it you are more than welcome to ask. Please do not take any of the graphics or art from this blog.

As I've said in the beginning, this is a verse where Meteor is the WoL from the 13th and not the Source. Just like in canon, his world has been flooded with darkness by the Ascians, and as the hero of this world, he feels intense guilt and self-hatred for not being able to prevent this from happening.

In this verse he's a Paladin. The statue of the mysterious Paladin on the 13th is him.

He's still being called the 'Meteor Survivor' here because I suck at coming up with names, but in this case, having "survivor" in his name feels like a mockery, because his continued survival has been entirely against his will. Death is not a concept on the 13th due to the lifestream being nonexistent on that shard, so he has no choice but to live no matter how much he wants to die.

Despite every other entity on the 13th being a voidsent, he's still human due to Hydaelyn's protection, but this too has become a curse. He still feeds himself only because starvation feels worse than dying, but since he isn't a voidsent who can directly take in aether from other beings, he has to actually eat, and the only food source readily available is other voidsent, in which case he has to directly eat their raw flesh. Much of his misery stems from how often he has to force himself to eat, and if he ever stays in the Source, he avoids meat like the plague.

Lives a lonely existence of his own accord. His friends are all dead, and all the voidsent who still remember him curse him for letting the 13th become what it is now, which further drives him into self-inflicted isolation. If he encounters anyone from the Source who crosses over to the 13th, he'll be shocked to see other normal people, but he will still be very guarded and hostile towards them.

Barely sleeps. It's not easy to in the environment he's in. He has deep dark circles.

No, he can't die the way other voidsent can on the 13th by being consumed by another voidsent. Every time he tries, he still ends up getting reborn as himself.
