there is no other choice in life than to forgive yourself. because how can you live with someone you resent?
we try to rush everything in life while simultaneously living like our time on earth is infinite. slow down.
you don't need workout results in just two weeks. you don't need to learn a language just in three months. In steadiness and consistency lies real results and contentment. mindfully consume so that you can create with intention, allowing your work to be a reflection of your heart. <3
Forgot to update but I've been having a pretty okay week. I think the most important thing has been to be kind to myself and take the little wins!
"why language?"
because no matter how powerless and helpless you may feel in life, you can always control what you say. you can make every word count for something. on your dimmest days, you can hear things that change your heart, or words that change your mind. and i believe that there is power in that.
that same power, the one that every one of us holds, lies within ourselves. dancing on our tongues to deliver, and through our ears it is received.
and sure, language is limited. with every sentence we speak, we rely heavily on nuance and feeling. however, i like to think that there is no better reassurance than finally finding the right words. for it is only through language that we can carefully construct the feelings we can't convey into a tangible understanding. hey, even with just a few words, you can connect with people from an entirely different way of life !
and when you learn a new language? maybe it's just me, but i feel that with every grammar structure i learn, my mind (and heart) open up a bit more. i mean, to be able to think about a new way that you can express your thoughts? It really changes your view on things, even if it is a minuscule change in the grand scheme of the days and years in which we label our lives.

i often take short-lived leaves of absence from my studies that look like sudden outbursts of motivation and dispersed efforts. one thing that i want to work on is consistency. because whenever i come back from one of those absences, i feel like i’ve found myself again. i don’t want to start on january first, i dont want to start on sunday, i want to start now!! it’s saturday, november 16th 1:38 pm and we are so back everyone.

whenever i see someone learning a language because of someone else (who speaks that language) i want to kiss them on the nose. thats so cute. dedicating hours of your life to reach the heart of someone you adore…
does anyone else randomly learn a word or grammar structure that they literally have never seen before but then you learn it and it is suddenly everywhere…?
"I mean I'd change into something I shouldn't." I confess.
Miss Saeki looks at me with great interest. "As long as there's such a thing as time, everybody's damaged in the end, changed into something else. It always happens, sooner or later."

its around that time of year for new years study plans!! im so excited!! does anyone have their language goals for 2024 yet? i would love to see 🫶.
language learning is such a personal thing that there is no “right” or “wrong” way of doing it. it’s whatever works on bringing YOU closer to YOUR goal.
you want to watch tv shows but don’t really care for speaking with others? yay!! no speaking practice needed.
you want to learn quickly for an upcoming trip? yay! text book phrases and simple grammar.
you’re a beginner and it’s been 10 years? 2 weeks? 6 months? it doesn’t matter. as long as you are working towards bringing YOURSELF closer to what YOU want to achieve, you have succeeded: you are succeeding; you are doing great.
i find that so much demotivation comes from comparison and/or trying to follow other's advice too closely. if anki decks don't work for you, that's fine! if duolingo works well for you, then use it!
this language learning thing, it should be enjoyed. in the sea full of deceptive polyglot stories and videos on top of videos attempting to understand how to learn languages in "the fastest way possible" sometimes we should sit back and ask ourselves, "when is just learning things, enough"?
with that i hope you all continue working towards your dreams! whether you want to become a translator or just watch a few more movies in your target language, you can do it. i know you have it in you.
a great language accomplishment for me is when i can make jokes and people actually laugh at them.
very very curious to ask, langblr
what is your definition of "fluency"? at what point do you say you can “speak" a language?
no right or wrong answers of course, im just curious to see what others think
the thing with me is that i will like a song in another language and then decide that i have to learn the language now since you know i like the song

constantly torn between "i wish I could magically learn this language immediately and speak it perfectly" and "part of language acquisition is the process, and learning it immediately wouldn't have as much meaning or significance to me"
sometimes i feel like i’m not yet at the place i want to be with my languages (and many other things) but when i look back and see how far i’ve come, i couldn’t be any more content. :)) happy fall 🤍🤎🧡
