So basically at my job I've got this sorta friend (we'll call her M) and this newer guy friend (we'll call him J) and so M and J and I all went to school together in like primary and then he left schools. So, of course we all work together and M was into J last year and I was under the impression she no longer was and I've started catching feelings. J happens to also be close with another guy friend of mine J2 I mentioned it to J2 who offered to scope out how J thought of me. I then mentioned to M how I was bummed that J wouldn't be at work tomorrow to which she started teasing me over liking him and then I said I do and she began talking about how she will "back off" and that she doesn't mind waiting another year for him as if she isn't obsessing over another guy 5 minutes before this conversation. So I feel shitty but I agreed to leave it alone and let her go for it which she doesn't want to do - she just doesn't want me to if that makes any sense. And the thing is I don't think my thing for him is one sided. For example, he just kind of hangs around me at work, he will follow me around just to talk, or help or just follow to follow and he's really funny and nice. There's also this old swing set near where I work and so on break all of us went to the swings (me and all of my work friends M and J included) and as we were all talking I decided to swing so I was turned away from the group and suddenly just feel hands on my lower back for a split second before I'm pushed up by J and he gives me an underdog (where he runs under the swing while I'm up high) and he's like tall tall so I'm nearly upside down and laughing like a madowoman and M was very unimpressed to say the least. All this to say, I don't think it's entirely one sided but I still feel like an ass. I'm sure there's more I'm leaving out, but I would really really appreciate some advice?

so today at work J gave me a candy bar he bought (it had my name on it) because he thought i’d like it or find it funny lol and we talked all dayyy i borrowed his sunglasses and ended up using them all day since he refused anytime i offered to give them back and so i gave him mine which he happily accepted and hung off his shirt all day because they were too small. we stopped to talk anytime one of us was nearby about his dirt bike or drawing or family or anything at all. and he also let me look through all of his sketchbooks and he is TALENTED!! so yk a very good day. M said she isn’t interested anymore so yk that’s nice. my younger brother was there end of the day and i was standing by J eating a popsicle since he had the other half of it and talking. i kicked him a little and my brother screamed “stop flirting!” and J laughed and said he was a rat lol and in the car my brother was ratting on my to my grandmother who said “well now she’s with us safe from any evil boys” as if J isn’t the sweetest guy ever PUH LEASE
