Were Macaque and Wukong concerned about how undeveloped Mk was and how that might affect him? I mean being hatched early probably wasn’t very good for Mk’s health I’d assume.

I had to ask @foreverabrokenfighter to answer this one, so I’m just going to copy what they told me because they explained it perfectly:

Honestly, yeah they were. That's why Mk was constantly with someone at first. Macaque couldn't risk something happening to him after all that time waiting for him, so he didn't allow him the freedom to explore by himself, and also why Wukong treated him so carefully. If he had hatched at a average size, he would have been allowed to explore and rough house and all the stuff normal newborn mystic monkeys are allowed.

Googled something about quick hydration and it suggested big jug of water, couple tbsp pickle juice, dash of lime juice.

Pleased to report that after a day of this i am not longer craving caper brine and my mouth is not dry as usual. There's some good suggestions in the notes too that I want to try.

-ancient roman posca: water, red or white wine vinegar, honey, salt, herbs (coriander, mint, thyme)

-switchel: water, ginger, vinegar, sweetener, lemon, salt

-ayran: yogurt, water, salt, mint

-Agua pepino: water, cucumbers, lime, sugar, optional mint.

This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.

OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.

And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.

I'm loving Rewrite the Stars! But I'm wondering about something: Will you be using any references to older stories that pre-date journey to the west, such as Wuzhiqi (One of the theoretical root myths for Wukong, who was later adapted into his brother by jttw) or maybe something from the Poetic Tale of Tripitaka, which describes Macaque as the Money who travels with Tripitaka (without any of the other pilgrims)?

Its cool if you don't use them though, I just thought I'd point this stuff out as your using the other monkeys who had their names erased from the book of the dead.

....... i had no idea about any of these stories....

Hello I gotta question as I am being baked alive I thought of how the mystic monkeys stay cool?(At least more wukong as he can't float)

K SO I ACTUALLY THOUGHT OF THIS-

So most mystic monkeys have some form of resistance to heat, but not complete resistance without INTENSE training or trauma(we all hate the pot). So, how they stay cool is actually fairly simple!

They bury themselves.

They dig trenches a few feet down until the earth is nice and cool, and ask someone in the Troop who's more resistant then them to bury them, and they kind of just spend a few hours in the nice cool ground until they can handle the heat again, and rinse off in the shallow pools around the City.

Sometimes, rarely, a Mystic Monkey is born with a connection to ice and snow and cold.

They are everyone's absolute favorite the moment summer arrives.
