God's Gonna Cut You Down

whew I know I owe a few of you guys, so I’ll get to it asap. Lemme see who I owe and I’ll see if I can start cranking out replies. Other than that, I guess my quietness/absence can be explained by my job. Been calling me in a lot more often and I’ve been getting a lot more hours. (Also I’ve been playing videogames too so)

It started out as something cute and fun, a dream come trueso to speak. Everyone thought they were the cutest couple in Johto, much toWhitney’s delight. Green liked the girl’s energetic nature and how easily shekept his attention, and she enjoyed the fame that came with dating one of the region’shottest guys (or so her magazines said.) However, this dream wouldn’t last forlong. As time passed, Whitney’s bouncy energy began to chip away at Green, whatused to be adorable and sweet became annoying and just plain cringe-y. Littleby little he found himself beginning to dislike Whitney, who noticed that his attitudehad changed drastically. Their relationship continued to deteriorate at asteady pace until Green was fed up with it and tried to break it off withWhitney, but before he could get a single word out the usually bubbly gymleader blew up on him. Screaming and stabbing at his chest with her indexfinger, he reeled back and found himself staring down into a pair of fiery pinkeyes. “I’m done with you Green Oak!” Were her last words before she left himstanding dumbfounded and feeling a strange mixture of fear, heartbreak,emptiness and relief.

⎨The Juicy Stuff⎬

Green’s shoes pounded against the city’s pavement, he threw a furtive glance behind his back and pushed himself further when he noticed his pursuers catching up to him. There was no time for him to catch his breath, stopping for just a moment would mean certain death. Normally he wouldn’t be running from something like this, but during tonight’s Dark Hour he saw a girl who wasn’t transmogrified; an exceedingly rare sight during these occurrences!

However, before he could get a word out, she had run off, the look on her face told Green all he needed to know: simply put she was terrified beyond wit’s end. Afraid that she could end up with a grisly fate he gave chase, probably not the smartest thing to do but this was an emergency! Finally, she came to a stop at an intersection encompassed by coffins, but he couldn’t rest yet, there were shadows to deal with!

“Hey you! Wait up a s-“

Before he could finish calling to her he was blindsided by a rather nimble shadow! Green tumbled as the Evoker flew from his hands and skittered across the floor, landing neatly at the girl’s feet. He kicked the spry shadow from his legs and began to panic, “You! I know this sounds crazy but I need you to point that gun at your head and squeeze the trigger!” He swore to himself, not exactly the best way to convince someone to do something, but goddamn, this was an emergency! The shadow slashed at his face as the others moved closer, “Please!” Green’s voice trembled quaked, “Just trust me on this!”

Patrons inside of Striaton City’s café were greeting the morning as well as the heavy aroma of coffee drifted in the air accompanied with the occasional clatter of forks and plates. Green nibbled on a buttery croissant he had ordered, the warm pastry complimented the mug of coffee he had with it. He signed in content, dawn was easily his most favorite time of day. A wry smile crossed his face as he finished the last few bites of his croissant and washed it down with his lukewarm coffee, he knocked his knuckles on the table. “Oh, waiter… I’m finished!”

His waiter came, with a scowl that could scare a Dragonite away smeared across his face. Scarlet eyes smoldered quietly, clearly this person was no early bird! He grumbled something about being happy for his patronage and left him with the bill: $10.77, a little expensive but Green knew what he was getting himself into… or so he thought. He frantically searched his pockets, twice, his jacket three times; his wallet wasn’t found in either.

Trying not to panic, Green went over scenarios, maybe they’d make him work in the back for the day. Maybe they’d just say it’s on the house, or maybe… his eyes darted to the left and then the right, perhaps he could make a break for it. As he was surveying his surroundings, he noticed his red-headed waiter frantically waving his free arm around in front of a girl while carrying a pot of coffee in the other. She looked increasingly nervous as the young man flailed around, barely in earshot, Green had gotten the gist of the conversation: he was trying to impress her by bragging about some inhuman feat. His tall tale was quickly put to an end when he accidentally tipped forward a little too much and slid the coffee pot right off the warming try, the woman narrowly dodged the scalding liquid and scolded the man by bopping him lightly on the head after giving him a few choice words.

Putting the pieces together quickly, Green had come up with a scheme that could get him out of his little predicament. He beckoned the crestfallen waiter over to his table and smiled into his knuckle, “You’re pretty brave aren’t you?” Green commended, glancing into the wily eyes of… his own eyes darted to the waiter’s nametag, haphazardly pinned through his shirt it read: Chili. “I’ll tell you, Chili, I’m in a bit of a snafu here. You see…” He drew himself closer to Chili and dropped his voice, “I forgot to bring my wallet. So I have a little proposition to make. If I can teach you how to impress girls and get you a date by…” He checked his watch, 9:49AM, “3PM then you’ll waive my little embarrassment here. If not then… I’ll take the rest of your shift. Sound fair?” He stuck out his hand and waited for his response.

 A cool breeze ruffled Green’s hair as he went over his contract one last time, it was simple enough. All he had to do was escort some royal duke to the next country for a meeting of some sort, not too complicated or troublesome, in fact, it should be just about one of the simplest jobs he’s ever taken.

Finally inside the stronghold, Green was taken by surprise at the ornate decorations that surrounded him. Purple drapes fluttered in the windows, the soft carpet was plush beneath his boots and the smell of lavender drifted about the stony interior. Saying it was elegant, was putting it lightly, but Green wasn’t here to waffle around. He set his sword (sheathed of course) at the end of a rather lengthy table and took a seat to go over his contract one last time while waiting for his charge to come forth…
