The Piccolo Teatro di Milano was and is one of Italy's leading theatre companies. During the 1978-1979 season, they mounted a production of Waiting for Godot, which was directed by Walter Pagliaro and designed (scenery, costumes, and presumably lighting) by Enrico Job. Job did something I have never before seen in a production of Godot, namely this:
The playing space was that disc suspended high above the stage. I have genuinely no idea how people entered or exited. The ring-shaped lighting rig seems to have had only that one instrument mounted on it—the fact that you see it in different places suggests to me that the entire ring was made to rotate around the playing space.
