Elaris: "The weird angel statue is giving me tingly feelings."
Octavian: "Do you need a moment alone?"
Elaris: "Not *that* kind of tingly feelings!"
Indra: "Yeah, that would be a weird fetish."
That *wonderful* feeling when your players kill the big bad of the story arc in session 1 due to a couple nat20s from the Zealot barbarian fighting a vampire spawn...
Though, to be fair, it wasn't entirely the fault of RNJesus.
Lessons learned today:
Allowing the Barbarian to purchase a silvered longsword, thus nearly doubling the damage he did by bypassing the vampire's resistance was possibly a contributing factor.
Because the Rogue failed his perception check, the vampire was able to sneak all the way into the room the party was sleeping in- you'd think that this would work out in its favor, but the Rogue was able to close the door and keep it shut, thus cutting off the vampire's escape. Doors are important.

The Rogue, introducing himself: "You can call me Cerastes, and--"
The Wizard, out of character: "Wait, just making sure I have the pronunciation correct, Ser-ass-tees?"
The Barbarian: *giggles*
The Rogue: "Yes, ha ha, I am aware. Sir ass-tease."
The DM and the Cleric: *facepalm*

Session 1 is tomorrow night and I still have so much prep to do! The downside of running a completely homebrew world is that I never feel as though I'm "done" with prep, there's always more to write.
Do you prefer homebrew or pre-written settings/adventures?
Homebrew all the way
Pre-written setting but I write my own adventures
I run it by the book
