Thank you for putting things into perspective, Gina. I'm definitely one of the angry anons that needs to step away. It is confusing because other blogs state that it is illegal to make someone commit to a closeting contract so it makes me think that H and L have a choice. Is there anything that H or L could do to make you upset and/or angry? Like what if they actually get married to someone other than each other. Will you feel that you wasted a lot of your time defending something that they never wanted?
Hi love. Let me start with the fact that anyone saying it’s illegal to make a contract that closets someone is just being obtuse. Literally no one believes they signed a contract that actually says “You may not date another man. You must pretend to be straight.”
Closeting is done through intimidation, pressure, “friendly advice,” withholding advancement, etc. I can’t believe there are people who actually think closeting isn’t real. 🤦🏻♀️ Literally go through my tag. Look at all of the formerly closeted actors and musicians who speak about the horrible things they went through in order to have a career.
NO ONE would choose to be closeted if it was safe for them to be fully out. No one. Just because people look at them and see two men who seem to have it all, doesn’t mean that’s actually what’s going on underneath.
You (general you) might think it would be perfectly safe for them to come out, but we clearly know nothing because there is NO WAY they would put themselves through this shit if they had a choice.
Yes, they might choose to keep their relationship private. They may have chosen to put up with the situation for a certain amount of time. Or they may not have had a choice.
I’ve said this before, but I feel like people aren’t grasping it: when you look at everything that came out during the Diddy trial and with the Epstein files (and I’m sure we only know a tiny percentage), do you actually think rich, powerful people give a shit about what’s legal?
The music industry is vile. And it’s filled with terrible people. Harry and Louis have both suffered so much trauma over the past 16 years. I think they deserve so much more compassion than fans give them.
As for myself, of course I get irritated with them at times. But under it all, I’ve always felt they’re doing the best they can given the situation they’re stuck in.
And no, I’ll never feel supporting them was a waste of time. And I will never believe that they didn’t want the support. There’s just way too much evidence to the contrary.
