A/N: Inspired by the song of the same name (in case the offical topic is still regionblocked, here's a video with lyrics). Essentially just a silly little bit about the unit's shenanigans right before recording the song <3
Happy 1 year anniversary to All The Feels! this was supposed to be posted soon after the release, but here we are-
cw: mentions of Solomon's cooking, Simeon being a devious cinnamonroll hehehe
word count: 1.1k
"Solomon, you're late."
Barbatos' disapproving expression promised a stern lecture later down the line as the white-haired sorcerer swiftly entered the recording studio, his star-embellished coat softly rustling behind him.
Apart from a cheerful Diavolo, all of them were eyeing him with a different mixture of disapproval and impatience.
"Sorry everyone, the Sorcerer's Society meeting went on for far longer than I expected."
"You knew we would be recording the song today!", Luke proclaimed with the indignation only an angel of his age and size could muster. "Why didn't you postpone the meeting? This is for MC, after all!"
Simeon gently intercepted before Luke got the chance to start agitatedly yapping on and on for another 25 minutes.
"Calm down, Luke. Solomon is here now, so we can start recording."
"Indeed. I must say, this is very exciting.", Diavolo added with a gleeful gleam in his honey-colored eyes.
"It certainly is, young lord." Barbatos agreed with a small smile. "And now that a certain sorcerer has finally arrived, we can proceed without any further delays."
Solomon let out a little huff and shot the demon butler an offended glance.
"I wasn't that late, Barbatos."
"You were late by 18 minutes and 23 seconds, to be precise." Barbatos politely informed him with thinly veiled irritation.
Diavolo chuckled.
"My Solomon, you probably chose the worst of days to upset Barbatos. He's been anxiously preparing for today for months now."
"Naturally, I want to make sure I am able to give the best performance I possibly can today. Anything else wouldn't be appropriate for someone of my position." His response was dignified - Unless you knew him well and could tell that Diavolo’s comment clearly flustered him.
"I'm sure your performance will be outstanding as always, Barbatos.", Simeon reassured the butler with a smile. "Knowing MC, they'll be very happy once they get to hear the final song."
"Well, we first need to record the song, don't we?", Solomon interjected with a smug smirk.
"Of course, but that certainly isn't a problem now that everyone is here." The angel shot him a quick glance.
The sorcerer quietly grumbled something under his breath and the group was in the process of walking into the recording booth when Simeon felt someone tugging on his cape.
"Luke? Is something wrong?" He stopped and turned to check on the young angel.
"Are you sure MC is going to like the song?" Luke asked anxiously.
"Of course. Are you worried they won't? I'm sure they will. After all, we're all going to give it our all, right?"
Everyone collectively nodded, but Luke didn't seem convinced.
"What if I forget the lines or don't hit the pitch?"
"Then we'll record a second time. We have more than one try, remember?"
Diavolo chortled. "This isn't the first time any of us have recorded a song, is it Luke? And I've heard you have practiced a lot, so there's no need to worry."
"But... but I want it to be perfect! It's a song for MC, after all!", the young angel suddenly blurted out.
"If you put your heart into the delivery of your lines, MC is sure to notice and your feelings will certainly reach them." Barbatos gave him a reassuring smile.
"Barbatos is right. Just give it all you've got and it'll be fine, Luke.", Solomon added.
"Afterwards, I'd be delighted to have all of you join us at the castle. I have prepared some special delicacies to celebrate the occasion."
Luke's eyes immediately lightened up.
"I'm gonna give it my all so that I can enjoy what Barbatos has made for us!"
"That's the spirit!", Diavolo agreed encouragingly.
Solomon let out a contemplative hum.
"Speaking of food - I had forgotten to ask you how the food you asked me to make for you recently tasted, Simeon. Judging by the amount you requested, you seemed exceptionally hungry. I hope I made enough for you?"
"What?? Simeon?" Luke looked as if he was about to suffer from an aneurism. "Why did you ask Solomon to cook for you?!"
The corners of Simeon's mouth turned upwards to form a small smile.
"I'm sure both taste and quantity were quite apt."
"And what in the three worlds is that supposed to mean?" The sorcerer eyed his dorm mate with ever so slightly furrowed brows.
Barbatos let out a quiet chuckle, a knowing gleam in his teal eyes.
"May I assume that this is the reason the staff was exceptionally friendly and forthcoming when you entered the recording studio today? If so, I'm glad to know that Solomon's horrendous cooking was used for a good cause."
Both Solomon's offended protests and Luke's worried demands for more details were drowned out by Diavolo's booming laughter.
"I'm surprised you'd use such dirty tactics for an angel. However, I certainly agree that it is very much justified." The demon prince remarked with great amusement.
Simeon simply replied with a serene smile.
"Why don't we head to the booth and start recording? We've all practiced a lot for this very moment and I'm as sure as I can be that nobody will bother us with any requests or ideas for changes at this stage." For a split second there was a sharp gleam in his vivid blue-green eyes. "Meaning we should be free to record the song undisturbed."
While the others headed off to the recording booth, Luke eyed his guardian with big blue eyes full of worry.
"You didn't eat anything Solomon cooked for you, did you? You know his food is absolutely-"
Simeon interrupted the young angel with a soft chuckle.
"Don't worry Luke, I didn't eat any of what Solomon made." He took Luke's hand. "Let's go, shall we? Everyone else is waiting for us to start recording."
| small bonus scene |
"Are you sure you're not nervous?", Solomon asked, amused.
"I think Luke is nervous for all of us.", Simeon replied with a smile and put on his headphones. Turning to his assigned microphone he went over all his lines again.
The sorcerer quietly eyed him for a second, then promptly burst into laughter.
"Simeon, you're wearing your headphones the wrong way."
The angel winced and let out a startled huh?, taking off the headphones.
"How did you notice?" He asked quickly, trying to distract from the flustered blush to his cheeks.
Chuckling, Solomon pointed at the twisted headphone cables.
"Since I'm quite familiar with the equipment, I guess it's easier for me to notice."
"Cockalorum is by no means a desirable character trait, Solomon.", Barbatos interjected sternly from behind them.
"I'm not even trying to brag!", the sorcerer replied feigning affront, but the mischievous gleam in his blue-brown eyes betrayed his unconvincing act.

"Oh no! I guess that leaves me no other choice but to interact with Solom-" immediately gets tackled to the ground by about two dozen people to stop me from being in the sorcerers proximity

Diavolo
He knows what they call him - The oil prince.
Not a nickname Diavolo ever wanted to have, but no one ever bothers to ask him what he does or doesn't want.
Just because his father unceremoniously left the company dealings to him doesn't mean certain expectations aren't set in stone either way
Despite his age and rumors spread by his many detractors - Diavolo knows how to run a successful business (his father had made very sure of that). But that didn't mean that he wanted to run this type of business - or even have this type of job in the first place.
Though as with most things in life, he was never given the option to decide for himself.
Instead, the board of directors make it very clear that his suggestion to switch to renewable energy is pitifully juvenile, completely frivolous and ill-advised whenever he tries to bring it up. Without fail, the geriatric suits proceed to politely usher him out of the conference room, dismissive smiles like spackle on their faces as Diavolo is handed more offshore project proposals to greenlight and forced to retreat back into his office.
The entire situation regularly ends with him fighting the overwhelming urge to bash his head against his desk.
Barbatos
Wherever he goes, Barbatos remains as enigmatic as ever.
He can often be spotted enjoying dinner at Michelin Star restaurants alongside Diavolo - And people say that he does indeed pay for the meals quite often himself - So he has to presumably get his money from somewhere, no? Impeccable manners as well as his always smooth, calculated and precise movements aside, the man is as inconspicuous as can be.
Nothing about him gives any hint as to what his occupation could be.
Maybe he works for the secret service, maybe he is a bodyguard for Diavolo or even his personal assistant, maybe he has chosen a not-so-upstanding career path for himself - It is absolutely impossible to tell.
And Barbatos evidently feels no need to disclose his job to anyone, so the crowds are left wildly speculating.
And maybe, just maybe... you’re better off abandoning that question altogether.
If you value your life, that is.
Who's to say, really?
Solomon
Ah, Solomon.
Considering his long life span, the sorcerer found out relatively early on that "conventional jobs simply weren't compatible with his skillset".
(Any hypothetical scenarios of him waking up one day, feeling particularly quirky and applying to be a train conductor on a whim during the industrial revolution have absolutely nothing to do with that statement, by the way. As stated, a purely hypothetical situation. But if it had happened, that train ride wouldn't have ended well for anyone besides Solomon himself - Including the newly constructed hypothetical bridge the hypothetical train and its hypothetical passengers would have hypothetically been on.)
Since he still wanted to have as reputable a job as possible - because Goodness, could you imagine him starting pyramid schemes just because he's bored one day? Unheard of, tsk - he decided to settle on working as a - Aaaand I'm just kidding, he never took up a reputable job in his damn life.
At some point, being a king and conquering lands kind of went out of fashion fiddlesticks and he was never the type of person to work for others, so he settled on mysticism.
Traveling around the globe, entertaining superstitious bluebloods and occasionally putting on shows taking apart ancient egyptian mummies (that was a fun trend while it lasted) and selling obviously totally real medicine from whatever was leftover after turned out to be quite amusing. Though at a certain point that also became a fad of the past and he had to move on to other things - Not including grave robbery and illegally selling stolen corpses, of course. During the New England Vampire Panic, a lot of the work was done for him, but that's another story entirely
These days he has settled down allegedly, writing and releasing books on a wide range of topics and under an even wider range of pseudonyms.
According to Solomon, that is the only thing he does these days.
Pinky Promise!
Simeon
Simeon is... stuck in the hell that is underpaid retail work (They should have raised his pay years ago because at this point he manages the location he works at, yet on paper he is still only a regular worker with the meager salary to boot). Most successful store of the entire business by a looong margin - And he was awarded a 10$ store gift card and a company-branded plastic mug for all his efforts.
Despite all this, he doesn't leave.
He genuinely likes his job (even though more often than not it's beyond taxing) and his coworkers and mostly sticks around to protect them from upper management.
His regular working hours and overtime sadly don't leave him with a lot of energy to continue the book he's been writing on the side - But he will finish it someday, he swears. Even though he has been more than overdue for rehab for several years now. Doesn't matter. The store opens at 7 on Monday and he's gotta be in at least two hours early as usual
Luke
If there's one thing you should know about Luke, it's that he's ambitious - And makes a lot of plans.
And even more ambitious plans.
He wants to become a sous-chef in a renowned restaurant, no wait he wants to start an apprenticeship under Amaury Guichon and be on shows like The Great British Bake-Off or Cake Boss or --- Wait wait, what if he became so popular that he could make his own show and -
At a certain point, he gets so invested in his ideas and plans that someone (usually Simeon or Raphael) has to remind him that he's ten and those grandiose plans of his need to wait a little bit for now.
(Without the regular grounding reminders, he’d probably attempt to run a marathon before even knowing how to walk in a sense)
In terms of jobs, Simeon has been thinking about asking Luke if he'd like to try dog walking - Though that conversation is also planned for a couple years down the line.
Mephistopheles
While his dad sits on the board of directors of a successful oil giant (where he'd like to see his son succeed him, thank you very much), so far the only things Barney has managed to accomplish are a) living the life of a socialite and b) start working as a journalist for an infamous tabloid magazine.
His information gathering methods range from taking what he learns from attending social gatherings to write articles to scaring every single person in a 10 mile radius off because his eggplant hair sticks out of every single bush he has ever attempted to hide in to catch a celeb off-guard for a candid photo like a sore thumb as does his giant black Nikon, by the way
Thirteen
Thirteen works as an embalmer - And a very good one at that! Ever busy and often frustrated with the workload she has to deal with (and worst of all the crap she gets from outsiders for her occupation), she loves her job a lot despite it.
Plus, it's probably one of the most stable jobs with a decent paycheck she could ask for - people die every single day and there's no sign of that ever stopping and all that jazz.
These days embalming certainly has become less popular in favor of options like cremation, aquamation or natural decomposition, but she's not exactly as up in arms about it as some of her colleagues in the industry. Who knows, if it gets to a point where embalming isn't sustainable anymore, she might just switch to do something else.
Driving around truckloads of soil (formerly human corpses) to use for reforestation projects sounds metal as hell, she's down to try.
While she is very busy, she somehow always finds the time to gossip about the latest funeral industry scandals - Don't get her started on the baby corpses in the attic crawlspace or the 13 corpses in one cremation oven, she can go on and on about that stuff for hours.
Raphael
Unsurprisingly, Raphael works on broadway.
In the custom department, of course.
His work is in a league of its own and he's hands down the fastest in the entire department - Especially considering he's the one usually assigned to do all the complicated beading or sequin work.
He's also the only one to have an entire room for himself at work... for reasons.
His temper is well-known at work and everyone knows how to avoid it for the most part - But occasionally a new hire makes the mistake of interrupting him at the wrong time or requesting custom changes in the final stages of the project, which runs the risk of ending up as his next pincushion.
They usually do that once and then never again.

cw: mild swearing, Belphie's part is about as serious as he is about fixing his ass sleep schedule (moo is in for some nightly Faz Fun™ if you catch my drift)
| The Brothers | The Side Characters |
Lucifer
Unsurprisingly, Lucifer got stuck with a desk job.
It wasn't the job he wanted necessarily - it's very dry and involves a lot of politics - but he's good at it and it pays well.
Between the undocumented overtime he regularly pulls because he simply cannot leave his work where it belongs (aka the workplace) and the bottomless pit that is the always accruing expenses at home (property damage, massive amounts of food & trying to make sure Mammon doesn't completely eat shit), his pay should quite honestly be much higher to compensate.
(Not that he mentions any of that to his superiors. Father forbid.)
Mammon
Currently Mammon is doing another modeling gig, but he’s notorious for not managing to keep any job for more than three months at most so that’s certainly not gonna last.
Aside from the regular job hopping, he spends every minute of his time (free and company) coming up with more unsuccessful scams to run.
(Maybe that’s why he gets fired regularly … Food for thought, huh?)
At this point, it has become increasingly difficult to find anyone willing to hire him - At some point he might have to share shifts with Belphie.
Leviathan
Leviathan works as a consultant for a company manufacturing nautical equipment.
In his downtime, he’s a beta tester for studios like MOB or Steel Wool - That job opportunity was in part brought on by his social media presence reviewing and streaming games.
Satan
Initially, Satan wanted to become a private investigator - However, he ended up working as a librarian in a dingy small town public library instead.
True to character, he volunteers at an animal shelter on the weekends as well.
His abysmal salary keeps him from realizing his dream of opening a cat cafe fostering cats - While he could borrow the starting funds from Lucifer, Satan refuses out of principle.
Asmodeus
With that natural charisma of his winning over customers left, right and center, Asmo has been crowned the employee of the month at the Sephora in Palm Springs for six months in a row now.
Additionally, he posts make-up and beauty content on instagram and TikTok, slowly working his way up to make a name for himself as an influencer and become a professional stylist/consultant for celebrities.
Beelzebub
As one of the new top dogs in the NBA, both sponsors and teams are fighting tooth and nail to get a piece of him.
Frequent traveling means Beel gets to often try new food (which in his opinion is hands down the best part of the job).
While he does love his job, the fact that it requires him to be away from home so much and hence makes it hard to spend time with his family (especially his twin) regularly leaves him upset, if not in occasional depressive episodes.
On the upside, his brothers try their best to attend as many of his games as possible - And everytime Beel spots them cheering him on in the crowd, he feels so incredibly loved, scoring more points for his team than usual.
Belphegor
The only reason his superiors allow him to sleep on the job and haven’t fired him yet is that he somehow manages to do a pretty good job despite not being awake.
He's been working the night shift at the Pizzaplex for seven months now - In that time Monty and Moon nearly managed to kill him 11 times each, only being thwarted by the clock striking 6 am or the hourly recharge every time.
(Besides that, the Mini Music Men regularly crawl out of the vents and repeatedly bash their cymbals right in front of his ears. Belphie never wakes up and after some time, the rascally wind-up toys give up and retreat back to where they came from.)
Belphie is one of the longest-working employees at Fazbear’s in recent time and management originally promised him a bonus (a 25$ gift card for Pizza Pizza Pizza and free Fizzy Faz refills from 6 am to noon on Sundays) if he made it for this long, but they seemingly “forgot” about that… as did Belphie, apparently.
Or he was soundly asleep during that part of the conversation, it’s hard to tell, really.

I always find it funny that fanon made Lucifer into this sadistic super dominant top while canon Lucifer gets more turned on when MC takes the more proactive/dominant role. This is a man begging to be topped and given his actual personality and how he acts with MC it makes sense that he'd want someone he implicitly trusts to take his control from him for a short period of time
Canon Lucifer wants to drink tea and go on factory tours and get fucked stupid by his SO

Looking at how the chats and anime scenes with the brothers in particular are arranged, I think it's downright comical how orderly they all are.
Let's be real, every single meal at the House of Lamentation is a medium to severe disaster.
To get everyone on the same page, we're looking at:
Asmo and Mammon, who aren't exactly known for shutting the fuck up - Infact, these two couldn't zip it for more than two seconds to save their lives
Levi, who goes on hour-long tangents without prior warnings
Belphie, soundly asleep with his head in his stew, essentially waterboarding stewboarding himself
Beel doesn't need to talk, his eating is so loud
Satan either reads or snarks at everyone or starts shit with Lucifer again
Lucifer, who can barely hear himself think over all of it
Not to mention that several people regularly break the 'no books/phone/gaming device while eating' rule
Everyone is talking over each other with the china and cutlery crunching between Beel's teeth as the accompanying background noise
Lucifer attempting to get everything back in order, but order has never had the chance to set foot into the HoL in the first place
You can not look me in the eyes and tell me that with seven (eight with MC) people in this house, all of them behave.
That's an occurrence rarer than a fucking solar eclipse.
Especially considering that Diavolo+Barbatos/Solomon/Simeon/Luke are probably regularly over and it doesn't get any easier to contain the chaos with even more people around.
(Out of all those people, someone always has the zoomies guaranteed.)
Imagine having to deal with this two or even three times a day.
Every.
Single.
Day.
Imagine being like: Ah yes, time for dinner.
And knowing exactly that it's gonna be a disaster again.
No wonder Lucifer is so fucking done with everything lol
Solmare released an announcement video on the Official Obey Me! YouTube channel to offically kickstart the crowdfunding campaign starting on Friday, 30th May 2025.
The page with more details is already up. Once the campaign starts, you're able to donate via Kickstarter (Overseas) or Soreosu (Japan).
Additionally, the YouTube video gave a first peek at potential Stretch Goal Rewards (nothing is final at this stage).
Some of the rewards include:
Exclusive in-game items
Merchandise with the new key art (tumblers, posters, button pins, acrylic stands)
Personalized voice lines & illustrations
A name mention in the "special thanks" section of the game's credits
Solmare just announced that a new Obey Me! app is currently in development.
According to the video included in their tweet, it's scheduled to release in 2025 and focuses on the 'what if' scenario of living married life with the brother of your choice and the side characters are nowhere to be seen so far
As far as I can tell, that announcement was a different post to the one with the video, wasn't it? I don't have x/twitter, so it's usually a little tricky for me to see everything an account posts ^^; (But I saw the announcement you reference on Instagram after posting this)
In my own personal opinion - I think their wording is too vague for my liking. Yes, this is presumably early into development? (they literally said the app will release this year so unclear on that) and they will have a crowdfunding campaign later down the line - But considering they already have two apps for the franchise and basically abandoned both and both games included most of the side characters from the start in one capacity or another (Yes, NB reused A LOT of OMs assets), it personally rubs me the wrong way.
And - I might be entirely wrong about this - I wouldn't be surprised at all if dating the supporting cast is part of the stretch goals. To incite supporting the campaign. But only time will tell.
The announcement states "We will also be looking to add additional characters in future updates".
Okay. Cool. I'd like to raise two concerns -
That's generally pretty vague. Why? Damage control because part of the fandom will no doubt be upset only the brothers showed up in the initial video? "Looking to add" is not "are going to add"/"will be adding", it's a potential maybe. An option, not necessarily a guarantee. And considering both of my suggested phrases would provide both more clarity and are shorter, that was a deliberate choice by their PR team.
"Add additional characters". Hm. Interesting word choice to go for. They could have said "the remaining cast" and add an "potentially more characters" to that as well. The fact that they, once again, choose to be vague opens the door for the possibility that characters like Thirteen, Mephistopheles and Raphael won't be added at all. And this wording is most likely a deliberate PR move to keep both sides calm. And what does Solmare gain from procrastinating that reveal? Well. Continued support. They know full well that people will jump the ship if it turns out that some established characters won't be added. That lack of clarity and detail means that people are free to make mountains out of molehills and will support the campaign in the hopes of getting their faves in the game. Whether or not Solmare is gonna actually add them is up to them - At this point, we have nothing but a vague promise at best. Doesn't matter, they got the monetary support by beating around the bush.
Solmare is a company. Companies aren't people, so treating them like such is never a good idea.
I have seen too many companies in similar areas of the entertainment industry - namely vtuber companies - exploit their staff and fans because they fail to realize that their product that they put onto the market is their vtubers. And treating those people as nothing more than numbers is them shooting themselves in the foot, because the fans will see that and retaliate.
And whether you use vtubers or dating games to build up parasocial relationships and attachment with a fanbase, treating either too obviously like a convenient tool for profit is gonna end your business at the end of the day. You expect people to hand you money to support something that you yourself treat as expendable? Hm, something doesn't add up here.
Once again, this all just my opinion. I have simply been burned too often to not look at all of this with a healthy dose of scepticism and cynicism.
Sympathy is only a limited resource for all of us - And everyone is fighting for the biggest piece of that at all times. Consider carefully who to give your sympathy out to, lest you end up burnt out - and whether or not corporate entities with a long list of questionable business decisions are worth that limited resource is your own choice to make.
Both announcements are for the same upcoming game. One was the teaser trailer/video and one was the full announcement itself with some more detail, but both were for the same thing. Just like the crowdfunding campaign is also for the same game.
It's almost midnight for me right now and I'm literally in bed, so this isn't going to be a super long or detailed response, sorry. I might come back to this tomorrow when I'm not already half asleep.
To cut to the chase, I just want to ask - who do you think they're talking about then, if not the reat of the OM cast? Who do you think they mean when they say "adding more characters in the future" if they don't mean TriWorlds and/or the undateables?
Which do you honestly think is more likely? That the characters they add in future updates are the established, beloved characters we've known for 5+ years and already have significant store importance? Or that the characters they add will be some completely new OCs made just for this new game, while the established cast gets erased?
There's just literally no one else they could possibly be talking about when they say that they will be adding more characters after the brothers. There are no other characters in the franchise. We've already had relationships with TriWorlds/the Undateables for multiple years. There's just simply no other possibility.
As for their wording, this is almost certainly due to long-held industry standards. In the business of game development, especially in a public-facing sector like social media, there is an unwritten but nearly universal rule that you should never say anything definitive until it actually gets released. This is more true for mobage studios and indie devs (and not so much for huge AAA studios like say, Nintendo) but the point remains the same.
Even if the OM Team already has TriWorlds on the books, even if they already have everything planned out for how and when they're going to be added, even if everything is already set in stone on their emd of things, it's still not something that they are likely to announce definitively until it actually happens. This can be for all sorts of reasons, the biggest of which is because a studio never wants to "promise" something that they can't deliver. If there's unexpected difficulties or obstacles in the production progress that leads to things being delayed, you end up with an outraged fanbase because the content you already announced has to suddenly be postponed. Just look at, well, literally any delayed game release ever.
If your voice actor has to suddenly drop out or falls ill and they can't perform for a period of time, or if your dev team gets hit with unexpected workload increases, or any other possible reason for why things could get delayed or pushed back, YOU become the asshole and your studio gets a bad reputation because you didn't deliver on what was promised.
So, what most game devs will do is make an announcement that's as close to a clear-cut confirmation as possible, while still leaving just the SLIGHTEST amount of wiggle room in their wording so that they will be covered if anything goes wrong that disrupts the release schedule.
This is why you'll see game trailers have small fine print on the bottom of the screen, stating things like "game footage not final" just in case anything changes before the game is released.
So, for the most part, yes. We can take the announcement to mean that TriWorlds will be added to the game after the brothers. At the absolute most, the OM Team worded things the way they did just in case anything causes delays or schedule changes. Promising something concrete and then not being able to deliver is never good.
As for the other points you bring up...I think there's a huge schism between the perspective of a fan/player, and the perspective of the game devs and people on the actual staff.
Because I'm coming at this from the position of someone actually in the industry. I've worked in mobage game studios. I've worked on mobile games. I've been a writer (and hell, even a voice actor) for these things. I've had face-to-face meetings and engagements with members of the OM staff on more than one occasion. Some of these people are my peers in the industry. That's not me saying that my opinion is more valuable, or that my experience holds more weight or anything like that (because I'm not a Solmare employee and I don't work on OM, as much as I wish I did, lmao) but I'm just hoping it helps give perspective from the other side of the screen.
Thank you for clarifying! :)
I had seen all three announcements on instagram after posting about the initial one with the video and linking to the twitter post - Hence my comment about the missing side cast relating only to the initial video announcement because I hadn't seen anything else at the time.
On the topic of the phrasing of the offical statement - The choice of words bothers me because it doesn't clearly state whether Triworlds and the Undateables might be added down the line or only Triworlds or Triworlds (and the Undateables) and additional established characters (like Michael or Maddi for example; which yes isn't as realistic but I digress).
Additional characters is more so an umbrella term than anything else and that simply isn't precise enough for my brain. It can refer to all three categories mentioned above, but doesn't necessarily need to include all in this context - Which at the end of the day doesn't clarify anything for me.
Also, the main cast of the brothers, Triworlds and Undateables certainly aren't the only characters in Obey Me - Obviously the ones the fandom has become the most attached to, but Obey Me sports a whole host of characters besides those - Maddi, Michael, Candy, Helene, the Demon King, Queen Rose, Artemisia and Uriel, Gardonus, Lucifugus and Zaramela to name a few.
The Obey Me! Wiki has two entire sections entirely dedicated to Minor Characters and Trivial Characters - A lot of them being mentioned more than once and with a lot of potential exciting worldbuilding and interesting plot opportunities :)
Some characters like Michael or Candy have even become surprisingly popular with the fans and hence could make an interesting and potential addition to a new game - But that's for Solmare to decide.
If anything, they're certainly not out of established side characters to give bigger roles to - They did the same with the Undateables, who said they wouldn't do it again? Especially considering Michael was certainly a more established character than Raphael, yet they still added him into the game.
Industry standards are one thing - But whether they account for the fact that the lack of detail can in some cases cause completely avoidable, but warranted backlash (as can giving too much information) and that the aspired middleground is a fine line a lot of companies can't seem to get a grip on is another.
Also, I think being vague for the sake of not making potentially unkeepable promise depends entirely on the context - Especially when crowdfunding is involved.
Depending on how delays on game releases are handled, a rioting fanbase is certainly much less of an issue.
I think MOB has released every chapter of Poppy Playtime besides the last one late - And at least on my end I don't really see how this hurt the franchise all that much as whole.
If anything, the entire NFT situation was leagues more damaging than any late releases.
The only people being vocally upset about hiccups during game development that are outside of the company's control are ones that aren't worth anyone's time anyways - IF said company manages to clearly and adequately explain the situation to the general public in ways that will reach at least the majority of the fanbase.
If they don't manage to do that - Then they dug that hole they're sitting in themselves and have no one else to blame, in my opinion.
While I am no doubt biased as a player, I try my best to approach the issue from an angle focusing on media theory, common sense and a healthy amount of scepticism.
Most of us, myself inlcuded have no idea what is going on behind the scenes - But what can be analyzed and criticized is what is being put out into the world.
And taking into a account that making a dating game means you're targeting a specific demographic with its quirks and pitfalls that isn't exactly uncharted territory and many examples of do's and don't's of other companies can be looked at and learnt from, the fact that over the years I have seen and talked to so many people whose love for this franchise turned into distrust and general fatigue to Solmare's shenanigans (inlcuding my best friend who got me into the game in the first place), all of whom name similar reasons for distancing themselves from the franchise --- Well, I can't help but feel like that's an issue on Solmare's end that they don't manage to fix.
If you don't agree with my opinions, feel free to use the block button. It's here for a reason, after all :)
I for my part do not wish to engage in prolonging this conversation any further. I've said what I wanted to say and will now move on to other things.
