BRAIN BLEACH.

          A   DIVERGENCE.    there’s   something   different   in   the   atmosphere,    and   the   girl   struggles   to   identify   what   it   is.    the   air   floating   in   the   dark,    t.v. - brightened   room   feels   lighter   in   her   shoulders;    the   ambiance   seems   buoyant   with   the   mood   fed   by   their   enthusiastic   shouting   at   the   challenge   set   before   them.    the   couch   touches   more   gently,    the   colors   glow   more   vividly.    for   a   moment,    the   world   seems   quieter.    there’s   something   different   in   the   atmosphere.

          ❝     DO   YOU .  .  .     ❞          voice   does   not   match   her   identity;    the   question   about   to   be   made   doesn’t   harmonize   with   the   person   she   aims   to   be,    and   yet,    her   eager   to   make   sure   those   around   her   are   protected   and   hopeful   is   heavier,    scratching   the   surface   of   her   brain   until   it's   finally   transformed   into   words.    there's   delicacy   in   the   air,    something   the   blonde   is   surprised   to   experience   after   all   they   have   been   through,    and   lastly,    the   sentence   is   completed.          ❝     think   we   are   gonna   make   it?     ❞          no   elaboration   is   needed.

guilt   layered   beneath   him ,     the   night   still   fresh   in   his   mind .     her   words ,     her   expression     ——     it   doesn’t   settle   well   beneath   him ,     causes   a   lump   to   form   in   the   middle   of   his   throat .     he   tears   his   gaze   off   sam ,     a   hand   coming   to   rest   against   the   back   of   his   neck   as   he   swallows   the   small   lump .          ❛     it   was   just   a   prank ,     sam .     it   was   meant   to   be   harmless   fun .     ❜          it   wasn’t   supposed   to   result   in   two   of   his   friends   going   missing ,     death   the   only   possibility   and   out   come .          ❛     i   wasn’t   thinking ,     okay !     i   was   just     .  .  .     going   along   with   it .     ❜

          ❝     just   —   ‘ going   along   with   it? ‘     ❞          she   reproduces   the   words,    without   truly   paying   attention   to   their   meaning,    for   what   she   knows   the   whole   plan   was   nothing   but   a   MEAN   plot.    the   tone   of   voice   mimics   the   other's   as   much   as   possible,    trying   to   remain   the   numbness   and   apathy   she   senses   once   is   said.    revolting,    to   say   the   least.  

          NOTHING   LASTS   FOREVER.    the   pain   you’re   feeling   now   will   go   away,    the   grief   running   through   your   veins   will   vanish   gradually   with   every   beat   of   your   heart.    oh,    i   miss   you   dearly,    my   friend.

          ❝     why?     ❞          confrontation   isn’t   her   forte,    it   never   has   been.    and   yet   she   tries,    an   attempt   to   remain   the   memory   of   her   friends   alive,    to   keep   it   going,    for   the   quietude   might   be   deafening.    green   irises   finally   look   up,    gazing   at   the   other’s   expression,    almost   as   if   it   was   expecting   something   from   it.    something   she   knew   it   would   never   return.          ❝     why   would   you   do   that   to   her?     to   anyone?     ❞         jerk.

          THE  BED  DIPS  BENEATH  HIS  WEIGHT  .  /  limbs  shift  ,  moving  as  he  props  himself  up  on  a  single  elbow  ,  a  shifty  glance  cast  towards  the  small  female  perched  beside  him  .    ‘    i  mean  ,  if  we’re  being  honest  ,  i  always  knew  that  you’d  end  up  in  my  bed  eventually  .    ’    the  innuendo  leaves  his  lips  before  his  mind  even  has  time  to  register  it  .  

          those  same  lips   twisting  upwards  ,  sanguine  splendor  creeping  up  along  his  face  as  he  shifts  once  more  in  his  place  .    ‘    i  just  never  imagined  it  would  be  like  this  .    ’    digits  motion  to  the  mess  around  them  ,  more  specifically  where  the  blonde  has  made  herself  at  home  with  his  remote  control  .    ‘    i  don’t  think  this  is  what  they  meant  by  netflix  and  chill  ,  sammy  .    ’  ╱  @fnalgirl  !

          ❝     hardy   har !    very   funny,    mister.     ❞           words   scratch   the   surface   of   her   teeth   as   slipping   through   strawberry - kissed   lips,    and   a   chuckle   isn’t   repressed   by   slow   mind :    she   can’t   help   laughing   at   his   words.    the   reason   was   unclear,    even   to   her,    and   yet   useless,    considering   the   intriguing   atmosphere   around   them.    head   goes   to   the   right   and   then   to   the   left,    more   than   once,    shaking   off   the   thoughts   he   insinuates   —   not   disagreeing,    but    as   an   attempt   to   keep   the   feelings   hidden   still.          ❝     don’t   forget   that   i   was   the   one   who   suggested   this .  .  .    and   i   don’t   remember   using   the   words    ‘ netflix   and   chill ‘.     ❞

❛ ..i-i didn’t mean to hurt her, ❜  the words seem to fall from loose lips, slurred by a slow tongue, spurred on by instability and exhausted desperation.  being alone with sam gives him a second to reflect, as well as the opportunity to speak without fearing mike’s judgment  or another slap.  he doesn’t know when he’ll get another chance like this, and the mere thought is enough to distract joshua from the oppressive darkness of the mines.  ❛ jess, ❜  he elaborates.  ❛ i swear, whatever happened.. ❜  it wasn’t me.

          HAZARD.           it’s   a   mental   burden,    the   whole   situation   itself   requires   great   effort   from   her   choices;    a   vast   delicacy   to   make   sure   wrong   decisions   aren’t   made.    it’s   nothing   but   a   matter   of   fate   but,   oh   boy,    what   a   pickle !   —   the   thought   crosses   her   mind   without   permission.
