INT. LUSSO BARISTA LAB, CHEONGDAM ● EARLY AM. * ♡ WRITTEN, WITH LOVE, FOR ANYONE → OPEN !
She’s not going to kid herself, her schedule as of late is exhausting, but thankfully, she’s slightly used to it based on the wild hours she used to pour into her ( failed ) figure skating career. Back then, Michelle was always awake before sunrise, and even as a child, she would inhale mugfuls of coffee in order to provide a much-needed boost before heading towards the rink—her mom often claiming that her daughter was a refined “young woman” even in elementary school, and in a sense, that’s pretty accurate. She was somewhat forced to grow up as quickly as possible. If she didn’t, she would’ve been crushed under the pressure her coaches laid on her shoulders. The weight she had to sustain wasn’t at all what someone so juvenile should’ve been carrying around, but since forever, she’s always been told to push herself—to work hard in achieving a better life; not only for herself, but for her mother, as well. Even though her mom may not fully understand—or even support—her daughter’s decision to pursue a career in entertainment, she hopes that she can make all their dreams come true and be the sole provider for them in the unpredictable future, but until then, Michelle’s working as diligently as possible to make sure that she’s not screwing anyone over by rushing into such unfamiliar waters.
Much like her past, she still rises early in the morning, and like usual, Michelle always starts her day with a delectably sweet pick-me-up, and today, she decided to try a new café she found on the internet—one that’s not too far way from BC Entertainment’s headquarters, thank God. The last time she wanted to try out a new place, she didn’t realize it was an arduous journey through the city to get there, and sadly, she was scolded for arriving extremely late to her training that day. Here’s hoping she won’t end up in the same boat later on… especially since she plans on window-shopping and wandering about for a few hours before she heads back.
Approaching the order counter, she offers a smile to the cashier; eyes peering over the menu for a few seconds until she finds what she wants. “I’ll take an iced Earl Grey honey latte, and a slice of that totally delicious looking cake…” A delicate laugh reverberates from between her lips—ever charming and forever kind to service staff. When she pays up, she turns and looks for a table to take a seat at—finding an empty one in the corner. Though, on her short jaunt over, Michelle thinks she sees someone that she recognizes from the industry, and in order to network and get to know more people, she decides to approach them because… why not?
“Forgive me if this sounds strange, but I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere…” She begins, her tone donning a soft sultriness to it without intention. “Are you an idol or a trainee? I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything, but I train at BC. My name’s Michelle, or Rorin. Whichever you like best.” It’s then whens she offers her hand for a shake, hoping that her small intrusion didn’t catch them too off-guard.
“This place is cute, isn’t it?”
daiyu has never been a big morning person. it’s not that she didn’t enjoy early mornings, but that she preferred to sleep in if she could . maybe it’s because as a student it’s required to be a morning person. and now that she was out of school she was able to sleep in. waking up for school was always easy. she didn’t love it. but there was a certain stillness in the early morning that she loved. a time between night and day that was just peaceful. her parents never forced her to work for a dream that wasn’t her own. as her fathers princess he saw it as his job to care for her. let her discover her dreams at her own pace. she’s the one who forced another persons dream on herself. becoming an idol was never her dream. it was always biyu. she made the choice and she doesn’t regret it.
with preparations for her debut in full force she found herself up early in the morning. she liked to relax before heading in to train and prepare. the peaceful early morning being something she can’t pass up. she woke up knowing that she’d be in the dance studio all day filming for the dance covers. growing up she enjoyed coffee. had it when she felt like having it. but she was never reliant on it. since the announcement to debut she’s needed caffeine to help pick her up. she liked to explore seoul. visit all the cafes and restruaunt. try something new when she could. today she decided to try a cafe she’d pass by every now and then.
she sat in the booth with her iced matcha green tea latte and blueberry muffin. she usually took her drink to go so she could go home and get ready, occasionally sitting down to enjoy her coffee. today she took a seat and pulled out her phone to watch a drama she was behind on due to her busy schedule.
“i think you have." she said looking up at the other woman. “i’m actually a trainee under gold star." she said with a laugh. "since your a trainee i assumed you were also at the fantsay fest concert and private showcase. that’s probably where we saw each other." she spends most of her time at gold star so any idols or trainees she met outside of the company where most likely seen during the concert in california.
"my name is daiyu by the way." she says taking her hand gently shaking it
“huh … but you were at the fantasy festival thing, right? i totally know your face!” cheeks flushed with embarrassment, minhee cringes at her mistake, and tries her best to make a flustered recovery as she sits down, legs crossed, for the picnic. “you’ll have to forgive me, it’s hard to keep up with my own schedules, never mind everyone else’s.” minhee lets out a soft aah as the gold star trainee explains. “hopefully it’ll be soon! let me tell you a secret. being a trainee sucks, and being a rookie also kind of sucks, but after a while, you get to relax, i promise.”
if your group succeeds, that is. minhee still remembers those early days that lipstick’s future was up in the air, and the messier days still that they faced after goeun’s departure. regardless, she keeps on smiling. “and with that, let me introduce myself properly. lipstick’s minnie, reporting for picnic duty.” and with a mock salute, minhee sets herself to poking around at what was available to her, unearthing the juice in question. “ah, that’s just as good! we can pretend it’s wine.”
"i was, but i was a gold star trainee. i got to do a few covers." the fantasy festival was actually her first appearance to the public. the fact that minhee remembered her kind of surprised her. the older women obviously had a talent for remembering faces. "don’t worry about it." she said letting out a small laugh. "i hope your right." she didn’t really care when she’d debut and training wasn’t all that bad for her. but maybe things were different for minhee. “and i’ll keep that in mind."
there is a possibility marigold won’t make it. it’s always a possibility. being under gold star is a crutch but not a promise. and if she was honest she doesn’t think she’d care if they failed. it was unlikely due to two members of element making up half the lineup. but the world liked to keep you on your toes. if they were to fail she’d go back home. her relationship with biyu would have to be okay where it is. she couldn’t stay in seoul. "i guess i should also introduce myself. i’m daiyu, gold star trainee." she said laughing at minhee’s mock salute. she starts eating her salami and cheese combo. "i now wish i would have brought wine. but i guess pretending will have to do."

daiyu loved animals. big or small. furry or scaly. it didn’t matter. growing up she never had a pet in the house. it’s not that her parents wouldn’t allow her to have one. it’s just that somehow it just never happened. the only animals she got to be around are the pets her friends had. so when the animal shelter volunteer opportunity came up she knew she was going to be there.
which is why she now stood in the the kitten room with a bag of cat food in her arms. it was feeding time and the kittens stood at her feet. she looked towards duri who stood nearby. "duri oppa." she yelled to get the older mans attention. "can you hand me those bowls please?" she said eyeing the small stack of feeding bowls on the table she forgot to grab.
what: volunteering at the animal shelter when: july 19, 2021 with: you maybe?
gold star hadn’t hesitated in throwing the five members of vive into the regular idol routine. they had been busy since they left the competition show with their debut, their first international trip with all the companies and then for their own showcase, a comeback, and now one of three volunteering days. kyubok wasn’t sure how many he’d find himself at out of the three, but he knew that he wanted to come to the animal shelter. the male had always wanted a pet growing up but it was never really an option, and now he wasn’t able to have one for the next four years while he lived in the vive dorm so visiting a shelter and playing with these animals was as close as he was going to be getting.
he sat with his legs crossed on the floor, having gained the attention of one of the playful dogs the shelter had staying there until they were (hopefully) adopted. kyubok loosely held onto the other end of a tug rope with the puppy gripping the other. “they’re pretty cute, aren’t they?” he found himself commenting to the person nearest to him. “i wish we could have pets. do you have any?”
gold star despite being busy with a newly debuted group wasn’t wasting any time in getting the members of marigold out there. it helped that two of the members were already known to the public. they’re debut hasn’t even be released to the press and here she was already getting good press. it was a smart move on gold stars part. but she still felt silly being here as if people knew who she was. after today there we’re going to be two more volunteer days. she had nothing else to do. besides filming for the dance covers she was free. why not use this time to volunteer.
she looked towards the other idol. she knew he was in vive but that’s all she really knew. the members of vive were busy with their debut and schedules. she really didn’t have time to get to know them. “yeah. animals are adorable. i think it’d be nice to have a pet. and i don’t actually.” shes never actually thought about having a pet. she wouldn’t actually mind it. but at the moment it wasn’t practical. “did you have any pets growing up?”
"i’m not sure i’m cut out for this." at the moment she was to young to think about kids and marriage. she was just starting her career. but being around kids all day made her thankful that she wasn’t a mother. that she didn’t settle down with her high school sweetheart and have kids straight out of high school. it seemed her friends back home had decided to be moms and dads. while she decide to chase after her sister. she wonders if things would have been different had she stayed. had vince survived that night.
"so how are you doing?” she was currently sitting on the side wall trying to stay as far away from the kids as possible. she just needed two minutes. “hopefully better then me.” and if she was honest that wouldn’t be to hard. people never tell you just how exhausting caring for kids can be. she was just happy that at the end of the day she could go home.

biyu had never once even considered what her sisters might feel about her leaving suddenly. it had never been about them, never half as much as spitting in the face of her caretakers. she’d never felt the need to give them a special goodbye. she’d just left, to pursue the neon lights and billboards she’d aspired to for so long.
what did biyu even have to show for leaving? nothing, yet. a feature in a charm music video and now this, a photoshoot. huge whoop. was it worth leaving? would it have been worth leaving if she’d been good enough for wish? what about if chroma struck it big? would it ever be worth having caused her sister such pain? and what if chroma never hit it big? what if she was a faceless no one, trying to entertain people who simply didn’t care?
“yes?” she’s sobbing now, reaching out for her sister, to hold her, to comfort her. “i want you to value yourself so much no one else has to. i want you to make choices that are violently right for you. i want you to have ambition and everything you need to make your reality exactly what you want.” it was hard the speak through the crying, but she tried her best to still her voice enough to be understood. “i want you to be happy, and if i have a place in that, great, but i can’t imagine being someone with a strong effect in bettering your life. i’ll be with you as long as you’ll have me, but i will never stop wanting better for you.”
biyu has always had big aspirations. she chased after the glitz and glam of fame. and she was willing to do whatever it takes. go wherever she needed to go to get the chance of even a moment of spotlight. she knew her sister would some day outgrow detroit. it wasn’t a matter of if, but when. she sometimes wished that she alone could be enough to keep her sister there. but that was selfish. and despite knowing the day would come she was still shocked. shocked that she had left so soon. she didn’t have a right to know that her sister was leaving but she wish her sister would have loved her enough to tell her.
daiyu was content with her life. she had friends, a boyfriend, and a promising future. she had no reason to leave. but things change and she did too. her decision to leave for seoul despite being brash was still thought out. she couldn’t live the rest of her life without trying to seeing biyu one more time. and she knew if she didn’t try she would never see her again.
comfort from biyu was foreign to her. growing up she knew not to expect it. her sister was never affectionate, at least not with her. so when biyu reaches out for her she hesitates. but falls into her sisters embrace only a moment later. her own tears spilling out. she clings on desperately searching for comfort from the one person she’s always craved it from. she was being vulnerable in front of a room of strangers. some most likely idols under the same company. and again she couldn’t seem to care. "that isn’t me." she could never be so unapologetically selfish. she was selfish when she needed to be. but she could never be so egotistical. her friends made her a better person. they made her stronger. "maybe you make my life better."
kami waved goodbye to her parents, watching as they walked away. she was in the area, they were in the area for a bit and they all took the chance to meet up. but they had to be on their way and kami didn’t mind staying at the park for a while longer.
until now. kami looked up from her phone she heard someone speak to her. “are you trying to kill me?” she said it blunt enough that it was hard to tell if it was a joke or not. still, it was a strange thing to be asked by someone she didn’t know, speaking of, “i wouldn’t mind, i’m free but how do we know each other?”
daiyu didn’t spend a lot of time outdoors, but she occasionally liked to spend a few hours in the park. and really there was no other place she could have a picnic. most of the time she went when it was quite. nothing but the trees blowing in the wind. but today she went in the afternoon wanting to soak up the last few hours of sunlight.
"no. sorry don’t really want to go jail for murder. i don’t really now you but we can change that." they could have possibly met at the fantasy fest concert last month. maybe passed by each other. the only reason she approached the other women is because she seemed to be an idol. or at least she had the look. it was a terrible idea to begin with but it was late to rethink it now.
this is late, but better late then never. haseon has been dropped and i’m in need of some threads for daiyu. i’m still going to write the random starters i owe and any starter i’ve already promised. if you would like to plot please hit the heart. and if we were plotting something out on haseon’s account please pm me. ( also on a side note i plan on brining in another muse ( member of charm ) once i get my life together. if you want to plot something out for him please pm me. he has a bio and wc page if you want to see it.
i’m reviving an old muse and need help with his face. jung hoseok, bang chan, or moon bin?
the answer was an easy yes. biyu hated herself, hated who she was, how she acted, and as much as she put on a show about how wonderful and glamorous she was, about how worthy of attention she was, her youth had strongly affected the way she viewed herself. she didn’t know how to begin to apologize to daiyu, wasn’t even sure there was a point in it when she knew she was only going to hurt her baby sister again. it felt inevitable. “you shouldn’t. i’m sorry you’ve invested so much in me. i…” love you was the natural finish to the sentence. she did. she loved her sister, and she felt bad for all she’d put her through, bt she had no right to say such a thing to her right then. “i would change the way i did things, if i could.” she amended. not that she’d left at all, granted, but the timing, the way she’d gone, with hardly a goodbye.
tears sprung to biyu’s eyes, hot and wet. did daiyu really feel that way? had it been one of the adult of the family, biyu would have assumed this was some sick power play, but daiyu? her gentlest, kindest sister? the one who’d only ever wanted to love and be loved? she couldn’t even entertain the idea. “daiyu, i… i’m sorry for how i left things. i’m sorry you’ve had to do so much already, i never wanted this for you. the truth is, i’m selfish, but i don’t want you to suffer any more than you have already. if you really don’t want to be done with me, and i don’t blame you if you do, i’ll try so hard for you, but i’m afraid i’ll just hurt you. i’m not a good person, i’ll never be the sister you deserve, but i can try to be better than the shit pile i’ve been.”
daiyu doesn’t hate that her sister left. she would always support any dream she had. she’d be there on the sideline cheering her on. what she hates is how she left. one day she was there and the next day she was gone without a word. she spent her entire childhood chasing after her older sister who she loved so dearly. and her sister acted as if she didn’t even exist. it hurt her. not knowing why her sister never loved her. and then having her leave without even telling her.
after her sister left for seoul she leaned heavily on vince for support. he was her rock. her one constant thing. she always had her family but sometimes they weren’t enough. and when vince passed she no longer had that support. her entire world was shattered. her support system gone, leaving a gaping hole where he used to be. two people she held so dear were gone. and she couldn’t help but wonder if she was to blame. did she push biyu away? and was there anything she could have done to save vince? she do badly wanted to be dead in the months after the accident. it swallowed her along with the guilt. it took her years to build herself back up. and even now she’s still healing.
"so what your saying is i’ll only ever get hurt in the end. even when your trying i’ll still lose. and you want me to stand here and say i never want to see you again. is that what you want?” a new wave of tears fell down her cheeks. but in all honesty she’d be lying if she said she regrets following her sister. if given another chance she’d still make the same decision. she had to see her sister again. life was to unpredictable to leave anything up to chance. if she knows anything it’s that tomorrow isn't promised. how did she become so unlucky? why did she love her sister so much? so much that she didn’t care if she got hurt. “i hope you know i will never leave you.” and that was one thing she could promise. she might get hurt but that’s something she’s willing to risk everytime.

minhee always heard other idols in interviews talking about all of the extra hours that they put in, practicing this, that or the other, and wondered if they were being truthful. she supposed that maybe she had been like that too, once upon a time, back when lipstick debuted and she was struggling so much, but if she had, it was a long time ago now. minhee just wasn’t that type of person -- she figured that enjoying and making the most of what little time off she actually had was just as important as the time she spent working and practicing. and so, there she was, basking in the sun and sitting cross-legged on a bench, when she was approached by someone she semi-recognised.
the question was kind of out of the blue, especially from a ... stranger? no. minhee’s expression remained vacant as she blinked at the girl, trying her best to place a name on her face. was she a fan? or maybe some kind of anti -- was the food even safe? no! wait a minute -- lightbulb. “aha! you’re one of the chroma girls, aren’t you? i’ve been trying to introduce myself to all of you, but i think i’ve only gotten to talk to the crystal girls so far.” unless she’d auditioned for bc to sabotage lipstick from the inside, minhee figured the food would be safe. probably. “a picnic sounds good though, did you bring prosecco?”
daiyu didn’t know a lot of idols outside of gold star. she barely knew the idols under gold star. not because she doesn’t want to, but because as a trainee she spent most of her days in the dance studio. when she wasn’t practicing she was at home sleeping. and on her days off she certainly wasn’t spending them at the company. she was pretty busy this month, but she feels it will only get worse after debut. she really didn’t mind practicing. it’s not like she had anything better to do. she came to seoul to be an idol. she had no roots here besides biyu so being an idol is all she had.
"no. i’m actually under gold star." and while yes she was set to debut later on in the year she wasn’t going to talk about it just yet. it wasn’t official and she couldn’t risk word getting out. "debut date to be determined." she said letting out a small laugh. "honestly i don’t know when i’m going to debut." and she honestly didn’t care. she was content with being a trainee indefinitely. but it seemed that wasn’t going to happen. she was going to make the most of it and try to enjoy it. “sadly no prosecco, but i did bring sparkling grape juice."

dowoon was easy to talk to. it almost came naturally. like they just clicked. they first met in california. it wasn’t surprising that that’s the first time she’s met him. she hasn’t really met a lot of idols. it was awkward to meet most senior artists. she was still waiting on debut while most of them have been in the industry for three plus years. how was she to compete. but when she was around dowoon she didn’t feel intimidated. she felt like she could be herself. there was no hiding around him.
the big three were looking for good publicity. what better way to do that than volunteer for an orphanage. daiyu was still young. she was in a lot of ways still a child herself. and while yes she wanted kids in the future she wasn’t big on taking care of kids. so she wasn’t having a great time. a kid was clinging to her leg and she was desperately searching for someone to help her. she glances around an catches sight of dowoon. “woonie.” she calls out to the idol. “can i get some help?” she asks motioning down to the little girl on her leg.
