“this is the place.” jiyoo nodded her head in conformation, this was the place. the only place she wanted to go to for the day. she turned to a rack near them, lifting up one of the stripped t-shirts, holding it close to her body. “i found it online, honestly, i did a bit of online shopping.” while she didn’t buy anything, it helped. “i wanted to narrow it down to one store, so i hope they have extra stock in the back.” jiyoo did intend to buy a fair amount of clothing and she refused to walk out unless she had at least five bags.Â
“and i’m talking all the food you could want.” when it came to that, she wouldn’t spare any expense.Â
“ah, okay.” joomi nodded her head in understanding. “i’ve never heard of this place before, but i hope i can find something that suits my tastes.” her fashion sense, while diverse, was still very specific and exactly tailored to fit her vibe and aura. it had taken her years to figure out what worked for her fashion wise, and now that she had, she tended to stick to her own lane. disregarding the times where dimensions had their own stylists give her clothes. “oh, that’d look good on you,” she commented on the shirt she held up to her body, nodding her head. “is it your size?” joomi began perusing through the clothes, trying to find something that she liked. “i’ll be holding you to that,” she chuckled.

setting: online exclusive photoshoot, september 2021
with:Â @fmdjoomi
minah was having the absolute worst day. she didn’t care for fashion, it simply wasn’t a realm she was interested in. sure, she liked looking presentable, looking good, but she had never kept in mind with how that held up to the latest trends, she just did what worked for her. so when she had been tasked with styling another idol for a photoshoot, even if just for silly variety reasons, she felt out of her depth.
styling her ex… something truly only made matters worse.
it had been a long time since minah had last seen joomi and not felt a seething anger. perhaps that was unjustified, joomi wasn’t really her ex-girlfriend at all, they never actually got to that point. was it fair to be this upset still with someone who had never really been hers? but perhaps that was exactly why minah harbored so many hard feelings, because she had been so much more invested than joomi had been.Â
either way, now she was stuck working together with joomi and if anything infuriated minah more than seeing the other girl, it was stumbling in front of her, not looking on top of her shit and with the task at hand, minah certainly wasn’t. “i’m working with calypso’s mimi as my model today, we’ll be doing a little photoshoot.” minah chose to avoid joomi’s eyes as much as possible, focussing on the camera keeping a close watch on them instead. the fact that they would be filmed throughout the entire thing only made it harder, far too many things going on for minah to keep up with. “as you can see, the concept we went with is sportswear.” finally she turned her head to look at joomi. “any thoughts you wanna share with our viewers? are you excited for the photoshoot.” minah surely wasn’t.
joomi had always had a penchant for fashion, even stemming from her young childhood. she presumed that a big chunk of that penchant arose from the fact that she was brought up and raised in a wealthy family; a family that didn’t hesitate to buy luxury items, especially clothing. her closet was flooded with clothing, so much so to the point that she had to use the closet in her spare bedroom. her shopping regime was the only thing that she allowed her father to financially support her for. and seeing as how prideful of a person she was, it was saying a lot that she would actually accept money in the first.Â
so when the exclusive photoshoot opportunity arose, she was more than excited to get involved. that was right up her alley.Â
what wasn’t up her alley, however, was working with someone she had been romantically involved with before. minah was another idol that joomi was all too familiar with. while the two of them had never made things exclusive, not even close, they were very intimate with one another and shared a lot of nights together. unfortunately, that all came to a screeching halt when feelings and emotions got involved. the last thing joomi wanted to do was hurt minah, but she hated the thought of trusting anyone romantically even more, so it had to be done. she felt guilty, of course, but what could she do?Â
after she had changed into the outfit that she would be wearing for the photoshoot, she stood in front of the camera with minah, awkwardly rubbing her hands up and down her arms as she pasted a fake smile on her lips. she almost forgot her cue to start talking, almost stuttering as she spoke up. “i’m very excited, of course, ruby-ssi. i’m a big fan of yours and i’m so glad we’re getting the opportunity to work together.” she gave her a bright smile. “i think you did a great job choosing my sportswear for the day.”
“so, first thing’s first.” jynx did a little spin and clapped her hands together. “i’m not really a shopper.” it was true, jiyoo wasn’t sure how she got her clothes. well, mostly, she they came from her step-mother and jynx was pretty good about taking care of them, maybe she had some spills here and there but it wasn’t nothing that couldn’t be washed out. “but, i cleaned out my closet. did some work and i need clothes.”
and she while she could get them from her step-mom, she wouldn’t ask. she always felt bad asking for things. “so, we’ll be doing some shopping but only at this store. i found it online and i liked the style, so let’s go for it.” it was called underbitlover and the fashion looked cute. “i’ll pay you in love and food and more love.”
while joomi would never really consider herself to be a fashionista so to speak, she liked to believe that she had a good eye for fashion and that she didn’t look like complete trash whenever she styled herself or got dressed in her everyday clothes. now what she could say was that despite not considering herself a fashionista, she did tend to buy designer and luxury brand things - all on her father’s tab, of course. she wouldn’t let him pay her bills, but she wasn’t going to turn down clothes. maybe she was a little bit of a fashionista after all?Â
“ah, this store?” joomi looked at it, a frown on her face. not because she was upset, but because she was unfamiliar with the establishment. “never heard of it, but i guess i’d be up for giving it a shot.” it wasn’t like she had much of anything to do that day either, so spending that time perusing around a clothing shop wouldn’t be the worst way to spend her free time. “how much food are we talking?”
yena didn’t like being at military bases. perhaps it was her inherent distaste for male dominated spaces, maybe it was the enviroment created by the military mindset. either way, there was always a certain amount of reluctance ahead of their military perfromances. it wasn’t even that yena was bothered by their largely male fanbase, it made sense, pretty girls dancing in sexy clothes, it was just the way it worked. it was the military setting specifically that had yena feeling overwhelmingly… meh.
not that it mattered. her complaints fell on deaf ears. for their group activities, their military performances were one of the only things that actually brought in money rather than cost dimensions even more. surely yena’s whining wouldn’t get her out of this one.
joomi’s presence, the older girl’s arms wrapped around her from behind, was what shook yena out of her thoughts, meeting her leader’s eyes in the mirror. “you know me, i’m always ready.” though as bold as the statement was, her smile didn’t quite convey the same message. “ah yes, another day of pandering to military men, truly the sole reason of my existence.” she deadpanned in response. letting out a deep sigh, she let her head fall against joomi’s shoulder, pouting up at her leader. “is this what we’re gonna be stuck doing for the rest of our days? military perfromances until the last of our mediocre relevancy fades out?”
there was a part of joomi that immediately felt jaded towards men, maybe even some form of malice. for the most part, it was due to her past experiences with them, which had put her off of relationships for as long as she could remember. but also there were the moments like the ones they were currently in; having to perform in front of a bunch of men who acted like they hadn’t seen women before in their entire lives. she appreciated the support coming from their fans, but it could get downright sad at times. it was as if they couldn’t control themselves around women, which was especially sad to say because a lot of them were grown men, some of whom were probably old enough to be the maknae’s father.Â
but her jaded thoughts towards men were always stopped in their tracks when she thought about her own father; literally the kindest, sweetest human being she’d ever encountered in her entire life. she knew that with seven billion people in the world, he couldn’t be the only decent man out there. she just hoped that at least some of those decent men were in their fandom.Â
“you know we always have to go where the money is.. and these military bases pay good money to see us.” she wasn’t sure if she felt flattered by that or not. like yes, from all the girl groups they chose to spend money on, they chose calypso - she was grateful for that. but the reasoning behind it was what made her a little uneasy. although she always tried to brush those thoughts off to the side, instead focusing on how it was money out of their pockets and into the members of calypso’s. kind of.Â
she pursed her lips. she didn’t want to be negative, but she didn’t want to lie to yena either. at the end of the day, joomi honestly had no clue what their future looked like. “try looking at it this way - three more years of our contract left.”
a lot of joomi’s friendships cultivated just solely based on proximity or coincidence. she had been in the industry for over ten years - it wasn’t surprising that some friendships had formed because of that. it was damn near impossible to see the same familiar faces several times a year over the course of several years without forming some kind of dynamic or bond. taejoo was one of those people. both of them having been in the industry for so many years, they had run into each other many times. those run-ins had eventually led up to conversations, each one growing deeper and deeper until she found herself knowing a lot about taejoo - including his not so great relationship with his mother - something that she could heavily relate to.Â
another thing they could bond over was being the main vocalists of their respective groups. she enjoyed platinum’s music quite a bit, and found herself keeping up with most of their releases. not only out of respect for their friendship, but because she actually wanted to. she liked taejoo’s voice a lot, something she never shied away from telling him, which was exactly why she had called him up and asked if he wanted to perform a cover of a song with her. she was glad that he had found the time in his schedule to agree.Â
“hey, you’re early.” joomi was surprised to see taejoo already lingering near the set where the cover was going to be filmed. although if she were being honest, she was the one who was running a little late. she had ended up oversleeping for just a few minutes before realizing that she was sleeping just a little bit too well and rushing to get dressed. “...or maybe i’m a little late?” she added as an afterthought, chuckling to herself. “did i make you wait too long?”

it was a double edged sword; joomi was happy that calypso had some sort of fanbase. she was happy that there were some people who looked at calypso and found them entertaining and kept up with their music. however, it was a little telling that the majority of their fanbase consisted of teenage boys with overactive hormones and grown men, many of whom were in the military. that alone was enough to give everyone else an opportunity and reason to fire shots at calypso - saying how they were a group who relied on their looks and selling sex to get by. how they were a disgrace to women. she’d heard it all before, or read would be a more accurate word, and luckily it had never really bothered her too much.Â
she always tried to check in with her members though and make sure they were alright. that things weren’t getting too intense for them or that they weren’t going through a phase where the negative comments go to them. she herself felt those thoughts hit the most when they were about to do performances like the one they were currently giving - to a crowd of military men on a base somewhere far away from the city.Â
she wrapped her arms around yena from behind whilst the younger girl was looking in the mirror, resting her chin on her shoulder. “you ready?” she asked, gently patting her stomach. “some of our biggest fans are out there today. can’t disappoint them,” she tacked on, her tone developing a heavy sarcastic edge.
introducing mimi., the leader, main vocal and rapper of calypso...
what’s up guys? it’s yaz back at it again with another muse. this time around, i have joomi here. i had a muse of the same name before, but this joomi has a completely different background and all that jazz. i hope you guys like her and if you’re interesting in plotting, let me know by liking this post and i’ll message you.Â
joomi’s history + personality:
for starters, joomi’s mother, seoyoung, was the absolute worst. she was a beautiful woman that used her looks and charms to practically con men out of their money. she left a trail of broken hearts behind her throughout her late teens up until her mid twenties until she met joomi’s father, jinho.Â
jinho fell head over heels in love with the image of seoyoung, completely fooled by her charm and charisma. within a year of meeting one another, he asked her to marry him. she agreed, despite not really loving him back. she was just interested in what he could do for her financially.Â
a few months after their marriage, she found out that she was pregnant with joomi. she was less than thrilled to say the least. she wasn’t even thirty yet and she was going to ruin her figure for some snotty nosed brat? hel no. unfortunately (in her eyes) she had to go through with the pregnancy. on february 14th of 1990, she gave birth to a baby girl - joomi.Â
seoyoung couldn’t stand joomi, but jinho considered joomi to be the apple of his eye. he adored her and drowned her in attention, gifts and everything she could ever need or want. of course this didn’t make seoyoung happy. she was used to having all of jinho’s attention and she didn’t want anyone else having it - not even her own child.Â
the arguments between her parents (mainly on seoyoung’s side, jinho was too much of a gentle, kind man to ever raise his voice, even when he was angry) and joomi was a witness to almost all of those arguments. it gave her a pretty warped view of her mother honestly. it wasn’t like they were particularly close to begin with, but seeing her mother verbally and sometimes physically attack her father left a bad taste in her mouth.Â
by the time joomi was four years old, seoyoung had filed for divorce and was going to take her with her, but jinho refused to let her have joomi. it was the only time he actually raised his voice at seoyoung, which was enough to make her see that she wasn’t going to win that battle. so she signed away her parental rights, took her divorce settlement and left.Â
not even two years later, jinho’s father had moved on with joomi’s nanny, which she didn’t mind at all. she saw her nanny more like a mother than her actual mother anyway. and not too long after that, her new stepmother and her father welcomed a baby into the world - joomi’s younger half sibling (gonna send in a wanted connection for that *wink wink nudge nudge*)Â
her stepmother was the one who introduced joomi to singing. she used to sing and dance with her when she was really little, and as she got older, her stepmother could see the potential in her. she was the one who convinced her father to sign her up for singing lessons. to this day, joomi is extremely grateful towards her stepmother for being her introduction to music.Â
when she was fifteen years old, she began auditioning for different labels and companies. she was accepted into bc entertainment and dimensions - she ended up going with the latter, a decision she kind of regrets. if she went with bc, she would’ve found more success because she most likely would’ve debuted with lily, but she loves her girls too much to ever truly regret her decision.Â
there were times where she felt like throwing in the towel and giving up, but joomi was quite the stubborn one. even though she had to balance her school life with training, she never allowed her exhaustion or frustration to get the best of her.Â
it didn’t help that her life outside of training had gone through ups and downs as well. she was fifteen years old when she developed her first real crush on someone - a cute boy at school. she was completely unaware of the fact that he was a total fuckboy. she ended up losing her virginity to him, something that he spread around school, leading people to think of her as “easy”.Â
as a teen she was still softhearted and forgiving. she was a hopeless romantic that would melt whenever a guy told her that they liked her, just long enough for them to talk her into sleeping with them before they dropped her. she wanted someone who would treat her like how her father treated her stepmother. and they would treat her really well, until they got what they wanted from her.
this happened two or three more times before joomi finally realized what was going on and she became emotionally closed off. from that moment on, she swore that she would never let anyone in to hurt her like that again.
she finally debuted in dimensions’ newest girl group at the time, calypso, as the leader, main vocalist and rapper. the weight of being the leader of a group of girls weighed heavily on her shoulders, and when they lost members not even a year into their career, she couldn’t help but feel like an embarrassment in the eyes of the public.Â
the feeling of embarrassment only grew tenfold when they lost yet another member two years after they debuted. she knew that there was nothing she could have done, but at the same time she also felt as though it would reflect badly on her. what kind of leader couldn’t keep their group together?Â
it was frustrating, to say the absolute least, to never have their hard work pay off. from the moment they debuted, joomi made sure that she pushed her members to be the best that they could possibly be. but it seemed as though they couldn’t catch a break no matter what. no matter how much joomi forced them to practice, how much she forced them to sing songs over and over again until they got it right, they still couldn’t seem to make their songs stick with the general public.Â
calypso wasn’t pulling in the kind of money that dimensions wanted them to, which meant that joomi and the girls were slower when it came to paying off trainee debt, and didn’t get much when it came to allowances.
not wanting to live off of her father’s money, despite him practically begging her to take it, she decided to find other ways to make money for herself and calypso. she had seen other idols make the journey into acting, and she had heard that it could become a lucrative career.Â
in the beginning, acting was just a way to make extra money for her. she wasn’t amazing at it, but she was good enough to land a supporting role here and there, which made her realize that she rather enjoyed acting. it was a nice change from singing and dancing, and while singing would always be her first love and the most important thing in her life, acting was something else that she wanted to continue pursuing. she also knows that it’s a very good career to transition into once she lays her idol days to rest.Â
personality wise, joomi’s learned how to be more or less aloof. she doesn’t let people in easily because she doesn’t want to run the risk of being hurt yet again. she can, begrudgingly, understand why her mother behaved the way she did. getting hurt by someone was way too big of a risk. in the words of yuna: i’d rather be selfish, hundred times better than pretending to be nice and getting hurt.
however, she’s very loyal and so protective of and attentive to her group members. calypso’s fans call her “mama mimi” because of the motherly role she plays in the group.Â
honestly, she loves calypso’s sexier concept. she thrives with those concepts, and she likes feeling sexy. it’s v empowering for her. she doesn’t like it because it gets her attention, she likes it because of how it personally makes her feel.Â
mimi’s image
as not only the leader of calypso but the eldest member as well, joomi is often seen as the “mom” of the group. she’s often seen taking care of her members - feeding them, covering them with blankets when given clothing on the shorter side and coming to their defense whenever they need her. it’s a role that she had fallen into rather easily, especially given her age and seniority. their fans have taken to calling her “mama mimi” as a joke because of this, but it’s something she takes in stride and even encourages from time to time by playfully introducing herself as “mama mimi” whenever calypso has to introduce themselves.
on the flip side of that, being someone who connects more with their sexier concepts, it’s no surprise that joomi is one of the sexier members in the group. where she lacks in dancing technique, she makes up for in stage presence and sex appeal, some people even going as far as to say that she “does too much” on stage or even that she “makes them uncomfortable” by how much she gives her all in sexy concepts. however, seeing as how their main fanbase, which consists of men, don’t seem to mind her onstage persona, dimensions does little to nothing to try to change her image, as it’s worked for her for the time being.
