Flynn Benson

Sophie pulled her hand back and looked at the blue paint now staining it. She span around as she heard some clear their throat. Hiding her hand behind her back she smiled sheepishly.·“Heeey.”·

“Hey! I saw that.”·

Sophie grinned at her friend, “You’ll let me off every time.” She looked at him smugly. “Look at you, you teachers pet.” The brunette teased nudging him with her arm. “Erm, rude.” She replied with her nose up in the air, though an amused look remained on her face. Looking at her friend, she gave him a sad smile as her heart swelled, she really was so lucky to have him in her life. “I always need a Benson hug.” 

Flynn laughed then shook his head, protesting to her comment when he already knew it to be true - he was weak when it came to Sophie. “Not a teachers pet, just someone who wants to help out.” He corrected her with a smile. Before she even had time to respond to his question, Flynn had already scooped her up into his arms, hugging her tightly he then lifted her from the ground and spun her around for a moment before placing her back down on her feet. “There, much better.” He said with a step back, a wide smile gracing his lips.

He was relieved to find refuge, coming home after a rather long evening battling his past. He needed rest, even if at times like this it seemed impossible. For a moment, he wanted to pretend it was not happening, laying on the bed with a huff, hands moving to his head to cover his eyes for a moment. He needed darkness, he needed quiet. It didn’t last. He heard noises, groaning in response to them. It was inevitable that his brother was returning home, when he needed quiet most. “Keep it down, will you?” He shouted at, who he hoped, was Flynn.

Hearing his brother shout from the other room, Flynn rolled his eyes. “I try to do something nice and you just yell at me.” He shouted back, making sure his voice sounded extra childlike, just for effect. “It’s not even my turn to do the washing up.” He exclaimed once again.

A small laugh fell from her lips. “If I turn you into something good where would the punishment in that?” She pointed out raising a brow. “Oh wow, that was quick. I still don’t have a particular job yet, I’ve just been helping with whatever they needed because, well, you know how indecisive I am.” She gave another chuckle as she shrugged. “I’ll decide eventually, I just want to do something that I’d be good at, you know, something where I can actually help out and not just get in the way.” Sophie smiled at her friend, shaking her head slightly. “They’ve been fine. Yeah, nothing much to say really. I’ve just been getting on with stuff.” She forced a smile to her face.

“Okay that’s fair enough, I’ll let you off this time, Martinez.” Flynn spoke, laughing along with his best friend. “What can I say? I’m a fast worker, and they’re looking for more observers at the moment so they couldn’t exactly say no.” He shrugged his shoulders with yet another smile crossing his face. “I mean you do get in the way quite a lot.” Flynn teased her, sending a quick wink in her direction. The young male could tell the smile was forced and was immediately saddened - he hated seeing her like this. “Does someone need a Benson hug?” The young male offered with a gentle smile.

The male peered up from his position on the floor grinning. “You’re acting as if this is new information.” A chuckle left his mouth as he pushed himself up off of the ground. “Now, where are you supposed to be going in such a rush?” 

“Woah woah hey.. You’re just going to act as though we only saw each other yesterday?” Flynn stopped the male, waving his hand as a light laugh passed his lips. “Bring it in here.” He stretched his arms out wide toward his cousin.

The witch sat up, turning to face him as she placed her book down and patted a spot on the bed next to her. “Good because I’m afraid I might have had to turn you into a toad if that was the case.” She gave him a smirk. “Well, what have you been occupying yourself with in my absence?”

Flynn offered his best friend a smile, his gaze moving to rest on her face. The reason he hadn’t seen her in a while was pure and simple, he had been avoiding her due to her spending the majority of her time with a boyfriend who quite frankly, was a complete ass. He should have been there for his friend but, that was difficult considering he was hopelessly in love with her. “A toad? Couldn’t you have chosen something a little more exciting? Like a Hippogriff?” The young male laughed lightly. “I signed up to become an observer, so I have been spending my time training for that. How have things been on your end?” He asked her cautiously, knowing that the answer would likely be negative - he didn’t want to upset her.

Sophie tore her eyes away from her book and bent her head slightly to see who had just entered her room. “Look what the cat just dragged in, I swear you’ve been avoiding me.” She stated with a grin. 

“Avoiding you? I would never.” Flynn exclaimed in a joking manner, mock hurt lacing his voice before he stepped further into the room and plopped himself down on the bed beside her. “I guess our paths just haven’t crossed for a while.” The young man shrugged. There was a reason for that, though Sophie didn’t know that, nor would she ever.

Sam was just about to mutter an apology when he realised who it was that he’d actually collided with. A mischievous smirk rose to his face as he practically threw himself to the floor dramatically. “Bloody hell Flynn, you could have killed me.” 

Hazel orbs moved up to settle on the face of the person he had bumped into and before he could react or take back the apology, he watched his cousin throw himself to the ground. “Sammy, you’re ridiculous.” Flynn laughed, the nickname rolling off his tongue effortlessly as he shook his head at the other male.
