I wish people would stop derailing my post about trans women's periods to talk about trans men's periods. Yes, obviously you deserve to talk about yours too, but could you make your own goddamn post about it?
There is *zero* space reserved for trans women to talk about our periods. Most trans women keep quiet about our symptoms every month, opting to suffer in silence, because most people get very angry at us for even so much as mentioning that we get periods. Any time there is any kind of event to talk about trans people's periods and offer support for them, trans women are excluded.
So could you stop pushing us out of my own goddamned post about it!!
Honestly for a long time I didn't think trans women got periods, so I was confused. So I looked it up
Obviously trans women don't have periods the way we think of most periods, no uterine line shedding, no blood, and no cycle. But taking estrogen can lead to pms symptoms, and from the brief description I read reminds me of being a teen when my cycle was setting in. The worst part about that for me was how irregular my cycle was and how dismissive drs and even women around me were.
There's not enough research on cis periods, and there's not enough research into trans health, so most women will be told their symptoms are nothing.
I'm a trans guy and thankfully don't get my period anymore, but I remember how bad they got and the treatment from others. Can't imagine knowing what the experience is like and not listening to trans women just because there's no blood
You're not listening to a trans woman right now. Saying we "don't have periods the way we think of most periods...no cycle."
Literally the only symptom we don't get is menstruation. We have a 28-day cycle, we get cramps, body aches, migraines, depression, period shits, breast pain, all the other symptoms. Because the period is caused by the endocrine system, not the uterus. The uterus is affected by the period, not the cause of it. This is why cis women who've had hystorectomies also get a period identical to this.
@flymultiply I know you're a man so you always think you're an exception and that everyone will want to hear your opinion, but learn to shut the fuck up.
I don't have followers, no one is looking at my opinions. My blog is for me to figure out how things work and make sense while I'm on social media before so I can move on with my day.
I did a quick google, the first results said trans women experience pms like symptoms.
My entire point was about trans women belonging in the broader discussion about periods, especially in medicine where anyone who has a period gets thrown aside
Oh shit my bad, I go on tumblr when I smoke and read the post wrong last time lol. Not trying to derail and talk about trans men's periods, and genuinely am interested to learn about transfem experiences

fun fact, you're doing the exact thing this post is telling you about. can you please just shut your mouth and sit the fuck down when women are trying to tell you something?
Pretty sure my post was me being confused, looking it up, and reasoning it out for my own understanding, really not sure what was offensive about that

in almost every single community, its understood that the men in that same community will have privilege over the women in that same community on the basis of being men alone. yet for some reason if you apply this to the trans community and say that trans men or transmascs possess a level of privilege over trans women or transfems they will kill you.
and i dont want to hear any transandrophobia ppl cry in my mentions la la la argue with the wall idc im busy
And if you dig in most of the time it’s because they don’t see trans men as real men, or because they can’t fathom others seeing trans men as men
yup yup yup yup yup and tbh even in the case of nonpassing trans men they still have privilege over trans women because literally any gender that isnt trans women or transfem (aka somwone that cant be tma affected) has more privilege gender wise than a trans woman or transfem
I will probably delete this later, I'm just really trying to figure this out as I see it more on my feed.
The thing I think that bothers me with the conversation about transmasc vs transfems having more or less privilege is it just feels like it takes away from actual problems. We are ALL marginalised because we're trans, and I don't think it helps our community to single out transfems or transmascs unless someone is doing specific research.
Trans people, regardless of assigned sex or gender identity, have higher mortality rates. We have higher rates of mental health issues, suicide and self harm. Even in countries where we are legally protected we face discrimination at work, in relationships, and especially in healthcare.
Personally I see a lot more trans women "portrayed" in media, a lot of the time as the butt of the joke or played by a man, so when people think of trans people many will think of drag queens or men in wigs. The joke has always been on trans women, which is absolutely a specific way trans women have less privilege.
Trans men, especially people who are closeted or don't pass, are definitely underprivileged with reproductive health and healthcare in general just by being biologically female. Trans women who pass in medical situations will often get the same dismissive and misogynistic treatment as cis women.
Anyway, I think transandrophobia is a stupid term, because all it's doing is splitting the trans community. If someone hates you for being trans it's simply transphobia and more trans people should understand being trans doesn't mean you can't be transphobic- no one person can embody an entire community. And the idea of comparing who in a marginalised community has more or less privilege is stupid, especially while non binary people are not recognised in most places
Hey Americans!! Trump has passed a bill in Minnesota redefining mental illness
Trump Derangement Syndrome is the new mental illness they've created in Minnesota. Individuals who disagree with Trump are said to experience a variety of distress symptoms. This is an attempt to make people comply and "stop blaming" Trump.
If this were a real disorder, it would be considered a type of phobia. Psychology is a science, and if there was truly a new phobia in an entire state causing mass panic/mental disorder- clinicians would first try to eliminate contact with the trigger (Trump).
Minnesota please take this chance!! Trump has screwed himself by saying everyone in your state who disagrees with him is LEGALLY mentally ill. Please cure your Trump-phobia!!
