When brass players take over the melody from the woodwinds
reblog if you can read this inspiring message
that broadway thing where the song ends and everyone freezes in their final pose (usually with their arms in the air) and you can see how heavily they’re breathing reblog if you agree
all you need to know about the evolution of harmony

do you have any favorite slow movements from flute concertos and/or sonatas? (& what are they if you have any you can remember)
2nd movement from the Reinecke concerto. This one is super sassy and you can make so many exciting decisions melody - wise. Second movement of the Martinu Sonata. Ugh this one is just super weird. I love it. There's this one chord progression that gives me shivers every time. Second movement of the Burton Sonatine. This one is so epic and there's this part that's super difficult but it's so so so cool wow love. Second movement of the Poulenc. Dang. I love this movement. The opening is supposed to be played with such simplicity. No vibrato, very quiet. Complete opposite of the Reinecke concerto. I always picture an empty white room when I hear this movement.

band kids standing outside of the locked band room: they cant lock us out of our own home. this is illegal.
if charles ives could do 4.5/4 time signature in his piano sonata no 2 then i feel like we should be allowed to do 4/20
What piece did Ives do with 4.5/4? Is that like 4 quarter notes plus an eighth per bar? Also how would 4/20 even work like what note is getting the beat.

I don't understand all the hype for 4/20...like that's not even a valid time signature
Mood: “October” by Eric Whitacre
y’all im gonna scream my 83 year old piano teacher who sits in a wheely chair all day just grabbed my hand and smacked it against the keys when i was playing quavers bc they weren’t even lmaoo
THEY FOUND FRANZ LISZT’S VOICE YOU GUYS
I KNEW IT I FUCKING KNEW IT I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN EVENTUALLY but yEAH. GUYS. FRANZ LISZT’S VOICE IS OUT THERE ON WAX CYLINDER AND I AM FREAKING OUT OKAY LIKE. I was gonna type this out as I was listening to him but i couldn’t because holy shit his voice is everything I could ever wish for I swear I could feel myself melting in my chair. It’s really hard to hear because wax cylinder recordings are all crackly and shit but Liszt’s voice has this really chocolatey, buttery quality to it, like his piano hands are caressing your vocal cords as he speaks. g o d. G O D. It’s as though he came back to life and is seducing people all over again.
WHAT WHERE CAN I HEAR THIS
Playing music
