꧁⎝ 𓆩neurodivergency and shifting𓆪 ⎠꧂
this is going to be a post about a lot of shifting related things, how those things can be possibly affected by neurodivergency and how to work around the struggles that neurodivergency might give to some people. I want to start this by saying this will be a semi long post, most likely my longest post yet, but it's all sectioned so if there's only one section you want to read then just scroll down to it. i also want to say that i am not very neurodivergent, i have ADHD but it isn't the worst. I don't have a notable amount of research on mental illnesses, however i do have a lot of experience with shifting and even more research done on the topic so i think i would like to say i have some authority to talk about how certain mental illnesses can effect shifting and the workarounds you might have to take in order for shifting to be easier for you. I also want to say these two things as soon as possible: 1. I am not an oracle with infinite knowledge who knows exactly what will work for you, I am only using my knowledge with my own and other people's experiences and sharing my knowledge. Obviously I hope these tips can help you, but there's no guarantee. Nothing said in this post is for sure a fact, nothing anybody says about shifting is really a fact. Something might be the best advice for one person but to another person the piece of advice might seem like total misinformation that's entirely false and both people would be correct because of how much shifting is a personal journey. This isn't me trying to stop you from giving critiques you might have for this post, feel free to send them my way. now, 2. you will shift regardless of anything else, i might say this a few times in this post because of how crucial it is that you understand this. There is nothing that will forever stop you from shifting. As long as you have your intention set on shifting then you will. nothing else matters, yes things can make it easier but you don't need to worry about doing things wrong. Also, I'm trying out a different format for my posts with this, what do yall think?
₊✩‧₊˚౨mind wanderingৎ˚₊✩‧₊
if you find your mind wandering a lot when shifting without a method then you should let it happen. letting your mind wander and letting your mind go down the river of thoughts you have then you can more easily let go and shift. Once you stop caring about doing everything right and making sure everything is correct and perfectly done, then the shift will likely just come to you. Just be a puddle in your bed, nothing else matters when you are shifting, you will shift anyways, be a bag of skin dripping onto your mattress. be so relaxed you forget your own name. Stop getting mad at yourself for being relaxed and letting your mind go where it wants, you already shifted, your dr self is letting their mind wander, and you have already shifted by the second you start trying to shift, so why should it be a bad thing when you do it?
I know there are a lot of neurodivergent people who struggle with meditation because of the lack of senses that are being stimulated. This can be a big problem because of how helpful meditation is for shifting. My fix for this is to meditate in a space that might be unfamiliar to you which can help you to stay in your meditation without being understimulated. Another way to help with this is listening to music, coloured noise for focus or something which can also help a lot. Some people might say that this is bad for your meditation but i dont think so, of course you should try and go down to meditating in silence but as a start, music and colored noise aren't going to cause a lot of harm.
I feel like methods are becoming a topic that many people are split on, some people think they're stupid and horrible and are gonna ruin your life and other people think that methods are the best thing to be made on earth. Obviously neither groups on either side of both extremes are right. I personally stand in the middle, I think methods are a good tool if you want but you definitely don't need them. I think methods aren't going to hinder your shifting journey as long as you aren't overly relying on them, because that's not good. anyways, tangent over. There are people who are neurodivergent who struggle with methods because they can't focus or remember. My solution to this is playing an audio that can bring your mind back to the method. For me, I play the dead by daylight skill check sound effect because I swear that sound is like a sleeper activation code for me. Another way of getting your mind to focus on the method is a focus subliminal.
overthinking is a common problem it seems, first of all i want to give the most simple piece of advice first, iwiigi's overthinking subliminal. really that's kind of it, it's really helpful. Now, i dont really have another tip but I do want to try and give you some perspective on this. No matter what you do you will shift, there's nothing you can do wrong enough to stop you from shifting forever. The most important thing is your intention, if you have the intention then you will shift. If you are worried about doing everything wrong, then just remind yourself you will shift because you will never give up. I have to say I am not a person who struggles with over thinking, i dont know what its like, so i dont think i can be the person to speak about how to help with overthinking, i hope this does help but, there are still other people on here who have given tips to stop overthinking.
If you are having intrusive thoughts and are worried about those thoughts stopping you from shifting then just know that they won't affect you. An affirmation with intent behind it will always be so much more powerful then an affirmation you don't want, with no intention that you are actively affirming against. as long as you are sometimes affirming against the negative affirmations that are intruding in your mind then it will outweigh them. If you want a way to try and stop the intrusive thoughts then whenever you hear one coming into your head then immediately affirm against it. i.e "you can never shift, you're doing everything wrong" start affirming "i am a master shifter" three times. for every one negative intrusive thought say 3 positive affirmations. the intrusive thoughts will eventually stop because they know they're wrong
I'm planning on updating this post whenever I have more to say. Anyways, I hope that at least one of these can help you out. huh, i really dont know how to conclude this. Well, thank you all for reading to the end of this post. Love you! xo
