Dick likes you for endless reasons.

You are beautiful — even heavenly, the way you cheered up the new intern who cried after their first fall through, the way you never waver in your opinions — confidence tinged in your voice, the way you took every obstacle with a stride, the way your eyebrows furrowed as you chewed on the pen cap when working on a particularly tough case, the way your glasses kept sliding down to the tip of your nose while concentrating on the lines of code on screen — Dick fell hard, perhaps still falling as we speak.

Everyone knew about his crush — from the security guard Troy who adorned a smirk every time he caught dick being a little shy in the presence of you, to Hunter, the German Shepherd cutie at the station — except, well, you. You were oblivious or maybe a tad bit ignorant to the voice in the back of your head, just reassuring yourself that dick was just being himself — the human embodiment of a golden retriever.

Now, you were the type of person to always wear your glasses, unlike others who only used them during work or reading. Dick — well, no one at work — had ever seen you without them. He could only see those beautiful speckled orbs gleaming in various intensities of emotions, guarded by thick-rimmed glasses.

He had always wanted to see them, truly for what it was.

After all, eyes were the windows to the soul.

And then it happened one day.

The two of you were stuck on a case — more like you were. There was a specific encryption pattern that you could not decode. It had already been 2 AM, and you were nowhere close to finishing.

“Fuck this, I’m done,” Your glasses hit the table with a soft thud as you cup your face, leaning on your knees with your elbows. You place your palms on your eyes, pressing on them till you could see the swirling patterns of distorted light.

“Hey, don’t beat yourself up,” Dick hums with a small smile on his face, rolling his office chair towards you. Now only a few feet apart, he pats your shoulder lightly “We can continue working tomorrow morning.”

“No dick, you don’t get it,” You remove your palms as your vision starts to restore from the endless black, “If I don’t do this, then we need to release that bastard due to lack — wh-why are you staring at me like that?”

You could see dick — well, a blurry outline of him — just sitting still like a statue, staring at your face.

“What? I look horrible, don't I? My dark circles have become even darker, if that’s possible,” you sigh, picking your glasses by the arm to put them back on when a hand clutches your wrist gently.

“Don’t.”

“Why?”

“Your eyes are beautiful," He mumbles, staring at you in awe, blue eyes wide.

Dick was mesmerised. Now, without the glasses, he could see the little sparkles in your eyes, the way your skin creased, like sand over seashells when you scrunched them, the natural curl to your eyelashes, the red nerves scattered in your eyeball.

But more than that, he could feel the warmth radiating like that of a sun taking shelter behind your eyelids, the hope nestled in the corners of them, shining amidst anxiety, the curiosity fleeting through like a ship sailing.

“Huh?”

“I said your eyes are beautiful.”

You blink, vision still blurry, lips parted, but the words crumble in your tongue.

The air around thrums with something, almost as if it had always been there and you were the only one blind to the touch of it. Now it caresses against your skin, past your thudding heart to the trenches of your cheekbones, planting itself like it always belonged there, warm and snug.

Of course, you had heard the rumours of Dick ‘liking’ you, but you never heeded them. Cause dick was like that to everyone – wasn’t he? He knew Mr Connor’s favourite shoes and which days he wore them. He knew that Ms. Martha, upstairs, had two dogs and five cats (he knew all their names as well). So, of course he knew things about you too, right? But when you had mentioned this to your colleague, she waved dismissively, saying dick knew too many intricate details that you mention in passing, and he did not do that to them 'normal folks'.

You turn sharply towards your laptop, missing the slight warmth across your wrist as his palm slips away.

“I – I need to start working."

You plant your glasses back, closing your eyes in a squeeze. Clacking against the keyboard, you type a bunch of nonsensical code while trying to make sense of what had happened a few minutes ago. Sneaking a glance back, dick is still sitting there looking at his cuffs with a faint blush coating his cheeks.

Perhaps there was some truth to the rumour.

Girl Dad! Jason who reads your daughter books everyday - inculcating from the very start, the importance of education (after all he was an A+ student). She would also have an extensive vocabulary for her age.

Girl Dad! Jason who is in a skin-tight black T-shirt that stretches across his beefy biceps and taut muscles, accompanied by a black net tutu and sweatpants. Your daughter’s school had organized a mother–daughter dance segment as part of the ballet recital. Unfortunately, you had a last-minute emergency that caused you to back out. Fret not! Girl Dad! Jason saved the day, wearing a tutu on stage, alongside the other mothers. Not only did he know what to do, he knew the entire routine as if he had been practicing with his daughter everyday. Videos of the dance quickly go viral, even earning an article from Gotham Gazette.

Girl Dad! Jason who writes a journal dedicated to his daughter. Every milestone and every age is documented as she grows up. Jason Todd aims to be the best father he can possible be for his daughter.

Girl Dad! Jason who catalogues every important moment of your daughter's life. There are not many pictures of him to look back on and he wants to change that for his daughter. So, you will see a lot of polaroids, framed photos and numerous photo albums scattered around your home.

You really should be listening because, for one, he was right, and two, it concerned a whole lot about the world’s state right now.

But how could you, if Jason Peter Todd sat on the velvety couch, knees spread with his jaw clenched tight, and those beautiful emerald eyes narrowed into tiny slits. His black jeans strained against his sturdy thighs, and the white t-shirt stuck to his torso like a second skin – you could even see his abs pulsing with every word, and boy, was it hypnotising.

Both of you had just returned home after watching the recent adaptation (if you could even call it that), and to say the least, Jason was pissed.

He had walked straight to the bookshelf at the corner of the living room, grabbed his paperback copy and started ranting about all the discrepancies between the movie and the book, which were pretty much everything.

It’s not like you didn't try to focus; you really did.

But your boyfriend was hot, especially when he was angry.

You lick your lips, trying to cool the sudden warmth surging through your body. The deep blue lighting from the paused TV screen highlighted Jason as if he was the deep blue ocean, and you were the reckless sailor drowning in it. Jason leaned against the couch, his head falling back with his palm resting against his forehead in exasperation, but instead, all you saw was his biceps flexing.

Yeah, you couldn’t take it anymore.

“What was that for?” he mumbles when you pluck the book out of his hands and straddle his lap. His face is warm under your palm, eyes a little wide at the sudden movement. You brush against his scars before placing feather-light kisses from the tilt of his jaw, the expanse of his cheeks, his scars to the column of his throat. His hands are at your waist, firm but gentle, as his eyes flutter, breathy gasps leaving his lips at the sudden rampage.

“Angel, please, " he sighed at the lack of your mouth on the one place he wanted.

Finally, your lips seal his, tasting the cherry ice cream he had earlier. Jason squeezes your hips, finding the silver of skin underneath your shirt, tracing circles onto them. Before long, one of his hands cups your neck, slithering his tongue between your glossy lips, swirling with yours like a melody you both were fluent in. Your hips unconsciously grind onto his, moans leaving his mouth.

“You just looked so hot, Jay.” You whisper, letting out a breath as you nuzzle into the crook of his neck, placing a small kiss on his red skin while your fingers threaded through his hair, “I couldn’t help it”. He hums, hands trailing to your butt before squeezing the flesh as he stands – your legs still looped at his waist—causing you to let out a yelp.

“ Well, we can’t just leave this halfway now, can we?” Emerald eyes hold yours, now brimming with desire, flooding all your senses. You whisper back, a sly smile on your face, “Of course, we can’t”

You giggle as he leaps (literally) with you to the bedroom.

Bonus Scene:

“It still doesn’t make sense how she could cast a POC actor for Edgar but not for Heathcliff,” you hum, drifting in between sleep as you nuzzle into his naked chest, his fingers twirling your hair. It was early in the morning now. After hours of being in each other’s arms, Jason was still stuck on last night’s movie.

“Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush is really the best adaptation to date."
