It was in the middle of the night when Cloud suddenly showed up at her doorstep. And he looked extremely drunk. And as if heâs about to throw up any second. He was slurring out words and even though she understood the words, she had absolutely no idea what heâs talking about. âWhat? No, Cloud I donât hate youâŚâ It looked like he was too deep in his apology to pay her any mind, though. âWhat are you talking about?â She asked again, just when he suddenly fell unconscious. âCloud?!â Aerith tried to wake him up again, but he kept sleeping. At least he wasnât throwing upâŚDespite how heavy he was, she wrapped his arm around her shoulder and dragged him all the way up to her room to put him into her bed.
Cloud opened his eyes. His head was still swimming but he was warm. It smelled nice here. Floral. Natural. Midgar never smelled like this. Neither had Nibelheim most of the time. Where was he?Â
He remembered one thing, the rest was scattered. âAerith?â
He though he remembered seeing her. Those big green eyes looking back at him. Had he dreamed that? No⌠thatâs what this smell was. It smelled like Aerith here. She had to be near by.Â
He blinked a few times and his vision cleared a little. The room was sort of familiar⌠Aerithâs house? Wait⌠wasnât Aerith mad at him? She was mad⌠he thought he remembered that. That Aerith was supposed to be mad.
He groaned and tried to sit up but it didnât feel good. He thought if he kept moving like that then he was going to be sick, so he laid back down. He didnât want to make more trouble for AerithâŚ
He closed his eyes again. âWhat happened?â He was asking himself but it came out spoken. He didnât remember much. Which was⌠normal unfortunately. But the nausea was different. Usually his head just hurt really bad, and he got dizzy. Sometimes the sharp taste of Mako would rise up in his mouth and that would make him feel sick, but not like this. He didnât taste Mako. He tasted⌠something stale and bitter. Had he been drinking? That was weird⌠he didnât do that much. Was that why Aerith was mad? No⌠that didnât seem right. What was it? His memories squirmed like trying to grab a live fish out of the water.Â
Heâd done something⌠he just had to remember. Maybe Aerith would tell him but⌠man he wasnât looking forward to that. Where was she anyway?
Cloud shifted around again but it still made him feel sick. âAerith?â
Aerith took care of Cloud ever since he passed out on her. When she helped him undress his armor and shoes he was only half conscious, surely he wonât remember anything what happened that night. And surely he will have a hangover once heâll wake up, so even if it was late at night she started cooking for him.
Pretty sure Cloud will be hungry when he woke up. Sadly she didnât have much left right now, having planned to go grocery shopping later that day, but she had enough to make a simple soup for him. Will soup help with hangovers?
All the time she wondered what Cloud kept rambling. She could barely hear him as he slurred the words, only that he was sorry. It was early in the morning when she heard Cloud calling for her. Smiling that he woke up, she grabbed the glass of water and the pain killers she prepared and ran up the stairs to her room.
âGood morning, Cloud.â She greeted happily, quickly skipping closer and putting the items on her nightstand. âHow are you feeling? Do you have a headache? Here Iâve got something to make you feel better.â
