Hiccup couldn’t take it any more, sure he was going to be the chief of the tribe some day, but he felt like even then he would be a figurehead in the tribe. She betrothed to some girl he had never met and essentially the rest of his life was figured out for him, he wasn’t going to take it anymore. He got on his dragon and flew away, away from this life, away from all the stress and the responsibilities. 

When she was told that she was betrothed to the heir of Berk, her world stopped. She knew this day would come but she didn’t realize it would be so soon.

No. She can’t do this. She had to leave.

Overnight, while all were asleep, Teira sneaked off in her boat. As she left her tiara on the bed, she left her life as royalty with it. She will miss her father, but she had to do this for herself.

Her small but trustee crew lived on the boat that she had secretly made. She banged on the wooden deck to wake them up and set sail for... Odin knows where.

“Rise and shine, fellas! We’re leaving. For good.”

The four men got up, enthusiastic as ever as they prepared the boat to leave. As it began to drift away from her land, she stared at it with solemn eyes before turning away.

Under the blanket of the night, the boat sailed in the middle of the sea. She designed the boat herself (their kingdom was famous for their navy so she was a savvy when it came to life at sea) so she purposely made it so that it would be fast.
