if girl!mack was real I don’t think she’d be the type of girl to have that internalized misogyny/rocky relationship w/ femininity that kinda goes hand in hand. Idk just the from the way Rick talks about his kids and the ways he raised them I can’t see him setting her up in a way to where that mindset would “fester”. Like how some women feel a sense of disconnect/alienation when comparing themselves to other women and the dominant feminine culture, mack is just well adjusted on all of this. I do think Robyn as a former female athlete would be able to see the beginnings of that mindset and would try to nip it in the bud w/ Rick’s help ofc bc Rick is a man and feminine things are weaker and have less authority. Duhhhhh

Like, she’s never going to be the most masculine or that feminine archetype that some of her teammates use to overcompensate for playing a “masculine” sport and she’s accepted that. She’ll wear jeans and a crop top to go out w/ friends but she’s got on Haines underneath, a sports bra and a carabiner thrown in. No makeup for media day but she bought her bottle of sol de janeiro with her. Won’t wear a purse but will bring a small cute backpack to carry her shit in. Stuff like that. Even though none of these things are inherently masculine, people are so used to seeing women performing this level 100 femininity at all times, so when Mack does not "perform gender" within the strict guidelines that we've been taught she will be perceived as a masculine girl. (even though in this au Mack does not consider herself or purposely try to portray herself as masculine)

she has a vague (hand waves) grasp on her sexuality until she takes a gender studies class for fluff credits and as a dare/hazing thing from the team (bc even though they’re women they’re still raised w/ the same values as their male hockey playing counterparts) and realizes that there’s more to this shit. Yada yada shes unlabeled bc she can’t be bothered. (When she was 13/14 and still playing aaa w/ boys Rick has been seeing boys change the way they interact with Mack and was getting ready to talk to her about dating, teammates, unwanted advances…etc, till she walks in Rick and Robyn’s bedroom a few days later tells them she has a gf then leaves.)

though I can’t decide if she would have boy! Mack’s current hair albeit styled better or like shoulder length… 6+ hours later Ive decided on shoulder length bc all the girlies that have boy cuts are either European or play hockey at levels so low theyre not touching any pro league.
