Dangles the strings from his straw hat for her to play with.

"Who's a good kitty?" Rubs and scratches belly.

"If I didnt know any better, it sounded like you missed me, Shunsui."

"Is it so wrong to miss the company of an old friend? Your schedule is rather irregular, its hard to tell when you're returning." 

“Nē, Taichou. I’m back for the week.” She was scarcely seen around Seireitei, only coming back once every two to three months for no more than a week at a time. But despite that, she had a way of making herself memorable.  

Placing his straw hat back atop his head, a gentle laughter came from the head captain. "And here I was hoping to get some rest for a bit." Although very busy, he did his best to try and give any visitors a period of time of his attention.

"You probably don’t know her but," he paused, thinking perhaps the captains weren’t so blind and inconsiderate to their underlings as the Sternritters were, " Know a Shinigami named Xaoli?"

"Yare yare, my memory just isn't what it used to be." He tried his best to remember as many subordinates, but with the entire 13 Squads beneath his care, it wasn't as easy as when he was a captain. "And what are your intentions for Xaoli-san." Regardless, he was protective of any and all shinigami within his ranks.

"What could I do?” He grumbles in reply, more to himself than the head captain. He isn’t exactly fond of people stronger than him, “The Shinigami I’m looking for ain’t around apparently.”

"And who might you be looking for?" The statement given roused Kyoraku's interest. Although now knowing that the quincy was targeting a member of the Gotei 13, this wouldn't end as peacefully as he had hoped. 

"…What, you want to share company with a quincy?" Deadpan, but with a hint of curiosity.

"If it is with peaceful intentions, I see no reason not to." Shunsui's eye raised to meet the gaze of his guest, his voice taking a heavier tone. "That is, unless you intended to do otherwise." 

"Don’t worry. I don’t think i’ll be staying long.”

"How unfortunate, have other places to be?"

"Well I’ll be."

"My apologies, I wasn't expecting company."
