Theres a BL webcomic of the Eros and Psyche myth, and I dont know how to feel about it.
Penelope mother, Periboea, is often confused with Periboea the Oceanid but they are two different individuals. There is no parentage of Periboea the Naiad, but given that she is a Naiad, she is probably the daughter of a river god. Theoi says that she probably is, but nowhere is it stated that she is a daughter of the river Eurotas. The thing I noticed about Eurotas is that even though he is a river god, he was also a King of Laconia and a member of the Sparta royal family through his daughter Sparta, so I dont know if he was born like that or if he became a river god much later, because his parents are either the autochthonous Lelex and Cleocharia, or the son of Myles, son of Lelex, so pretty normal parentage.
No fucking way...
Dionysus talks about Priapus as if he werent his own son, maybe in Lucians works, he isnt. Dionysus finds it hilarious that Priapus makes an advance on him, which is somewhat surprising one might expect him to take offense, given his usual nature. Even if he were his father, Priapus probably doesnt see him that way, since he was raised by shepherds. Maybe thats why Dionysus finds it more funny and awkward than offensive that his own son did that, even to him.

Its interesting that sometimes the daughters of Gods/Titans are more "powerful" or divine-like than the sons. For example, Aidos, daughter of Prometheus, is a goddess, while Deucalion is mortal. Circe and Pasiphaë are goddesses and cannot die, whereas Aeëtes in some versions simply dies and is succeeded by Perses (who is also killed in at least one tale). Iaso, Panacea,Hygieia, Aceso and Aegle are all goddess while their brothers are not, Machaon was killed by Eurypylus, Podalirius was buried in Italy near the cenotaph of Calchas so that means he enventually died.
When you read and research the early days of BL, you can really tell how that genre was born out of internalized misogyny and lesbophobia.
I dont know if I imagined this, but does anyone remember an animatic of Zeus wives styled like SIX: The Musical? Im pretty sure it used the song "Ex-Wives" but I cant find it anywhere, so maybe the creator deleted it.
Theoi makes Rhea the goddess of mountains, which I guess makes sense since she is associated with quite a few mountains and is identified with the goddess Cybele. However, I dont know if there are any ancient sources that imply she is the goddess of mountains. Although in Callimachus Hymn 1 to Zeus, Rhea seems to have power over a mountain, I like the idea of her being one
Theognis....what?

I like Cronus more as a harvest god than as a god of time, or at least I wish that side of him were explored more. Its not that Im against him being associated with time, but Id prefer it if he gained that role in some way, for example, by killing Chronos, inheriting or sharing his power, fusing with him, or something similar. Another idea is that Chronos dies and Cronus becomes a kind of reincarnation of him with that power awakening much later. Or perhaps Cronus is simply a new bearer of time.
Nemesis x Tartarus is such a great crack (canon) ship, the goddess of retribution with the literal embodiment of hell.
I like when Odysseus is drawn with olive/brown skin, it reminds me of my hc that his grandmother Chalcomedusa is Phoenician.
Oh that's interesting! I had never seen someone interested in her! 💕🔥 Do you have more headcanons about her? In my case is that she is basically Illyrian/half-aetolian and is really skilled with bronze making and basically a terror to be around. And for me, is Cephalus the one carrying the darker skin shades as he hails from Athens which is way sunnier than the western isles of Greece. I'm so happy to be able to exchange hcs if you want! 💕
Sure lets see umm I like the headcanon that some people think she might have been a blacksmith because of her name, "copper protectress". My reason for hc her as Phoenician comes from that Wikipedia paragraph identifying her as the protector of Bronze Age metalworking technology. Since the Bronze Age is often associated with Asia and the Near East, I think it fits her. I like to imagine that she was very independent and wanted new opportunities, which is how she ended up at Arcesius court. I picture Arcesius being fascinated by her skills, promoting her and giving her special treatment. Meanwhile, the servants and court gossip behind her back because shes a foreigner, commoner, a woman and clearly talented, so they spread rumors that she only succeeds because shes sleeping with the king. Chalcomedusa is indignant about these accusations, but also finds them a bit funny. She cant believe people think they are together, as if the king would ever fall for someone like her. So Arcesius gets friendzoned at first, and Chalcomedusa is completely oblivious to his feelings. When Arcesius finally confesses, shes shocked and hesitant. She never considered that he could love someone like her, shes not a typical woman for her time, shes a foreigner, a commoner, and possibly a bit older than him. I imagine that she is past the usual age for marriage by those times. She also doesnt want to prove the rumors right, doesnt want to give up her work as a blacksmith, and has no idea how to be a proper queen. On top of that, shes confused about her own feelings and goes through a sort of "I wont say Im in love" crisis. I really like the idea that Arcesius is willing to wait for her, both for her to sort out her feelings and to decide whether she wants to become queen. They kind of remind me of Erika and Dominick from Barbie The Princess and the Pauper. Their mutual relationship develops slowly, they get to know each other more and eventually fall deeply in love. When Chalcomedusa finally feels ready, she becomes queen. Their relationship would definitely be seen as scandalous, especially considering how foreigners were treated. I also imagine Chalcomedusa feeling guilty for having children later in life, worrying that she might not be very fertile and could end Arcesius line. She might think he shouldnt have waited for her and could have married a younger Greek princess instead. But Arcesius sees that as nonsense he loves her exactly as she is. On the other hand, Arcesius might feel guilty too, thinking she might not want to be tied to someone "cursed" with having only one son. But Chalcomedusa doesnt mind at all, shes fine with having just one son, so the guilt was lifted from her. I imagine they were able to meet Odysseus when he was a child or teenager, but that they died around his adulthood. I also like the idea that Odysseus inherited Chalcomedusa pride, and that she taught him about her culture and her craft. Even as queen, she never stopped being a blacksmith, and while she never fully got used to having servants and found learning royal etiquette difficult, she became a deeply loved queen who proved everyone wrong.
Hahaha i basically created a fanfic, with Cephalus i usually go with version where he is an Aeolian prince so yeah.
Sure you can also exchange hcs if you want i dont have any problems with that.
Ok but Neoptolemus last words to Priam in the Aeneid are so edgy, you can really tell hes a teenager.

Im going to say it, Priapus would be a better villain than Kronos. Unlikable personality and actions? Check. Irredeemable? Check. Has a reason to hate the gods and the gods to hate him? Check. Just let Kronos rule the Isles of the Blessed.
When you are interested in a Greek myth character who has so few fics that you have to go to the Percy Jackson tag just to find something.
