My overall view of Shelter. like the game by raus or something yeah. thank you raus for making this legendary work of art
as a yumeshipper, this game was one of the first pieces of media that i got into around the time i started yumeshipping and oh my GOD. the moment i layed my eyes on Thistle it was like love at first sight. ever since i first saw him ive just loved him more and more. ive cried over this man FOUR TIMES so far in my life just because he aint real. yeah, this is a little unhealthy, but i admit, he brings me more genuine comfort than most real people have in my life just by EXISTING. somehow his old man changed my life and i dont know if its in a good way or im mentally unstable way. I love my husband. <3
when i first downloaded the game it was out of pure boredom as i was looking on itch.io because i saw rune on the cover and i was like "sure he looks cool enough." little didn i know that moment would change the way my brain functioned??? this game brings me so much joy, fear, and sadness all at the same time i wonder how its not one of the most popular furry visual novels. for being just a game i downloaded by chance i didnt expect it to be a masterpiece that surpassed all of my other favorite games including a game i have liked for YEARS and i still like now to the point of analysing the smallest details. (that game is fnaf security breach but this post isnt about fnaf.) overall about this section: holy shit.

WHEN AND WHERE THE FUCK DOES THIS GAME TAKE PLACE. I apologise if this gets answered at any time, im currently like??? in the middle of saving cooper rn and i had to take a break because of what back to back shit with teak and him. SO STARTING OFF. for a while i assumed it took place in australia due to the way the characters spoke but like??? the climates dont match up and all but i THINK I HAVE A GENERAL LOCATION!!! at some point Thistle mentions wanting "cognac" which is a liquor made in cognac which is in europe. my theory is that they are in the general location of higher europe. although WHEN??? DONT ASK ME BRO???????? IVE GOT GENUINELY NOTHING. the "relics" make me think that shelter takes place some time in the future, but their understanding of it, their cultures and understanding on basically everything makes me think its some time in the past. this game could genuinely take place at any time and it would probably make sense. ALTHOUGH with how mana is in that universe it might have made technology easier to advance which points toward it being more in the past. so my theory about the setting?? higher europe at some point in the past. im not exactly going off a lot here.
this is generally just an appreciation rant because its like 4 am right now and i should probably be sleeping but i feel WAY too inspired to talk right now. (also last thing this game made me start saying oh my dog instead of oh my god)

yes i noticed the cognac thing because one line he said that made me research a random liquor. so what? i legit hyper analyse all of his lines because of how obsessed i am. if i told you i literally want a bone carved into a pipe and a bottle of cognac and the exact clothing he uses just because he uses/likes them would you believe me? because you better. I love that guy more than i could ever imagine <3 it genuinely pains me that theres no merch of the game too other than a damn adult toy of a character i kin. </3 AANYWAYS back to thistle im convinced im the BIGGEST thistle fan ever, like i legit have 2 spotify playlists about him, i have wrote 3 poems about him, i have a self insert that is obviously massively in love with him but i made that fucker fit into the damn lore and make sense the best i could. AIFGHHH i hate myself for making him a part of runes training group because of the garden scene... i bring pain upon myself with this damn yumeship. i wish i had an exact scent i could base off of too :[ like its described he has a little smell good oil thingy and I WANNA KNOW WHAT IT ISSSS I WANNA KNOW WHAT MY HUSBAND SMELLS LIKEEEE :(((( excuse that but aughhh raus why must you torture me like this. what do you mean he canonically dies no matter what. what do you MEAN he dies only a few months after skies ablaze due to old age. HES 68 HES NOT THAT OLDDDD also something i noticed... the truck scene has something he doesnt make it to... 69... im so funny guys right... (im sobbing internally) i plan on getting some V.S.O.P. cognac at some point in my life just for him lol. anyways byeeee rant over its been like more than 17 minutes of me typing oh my dog</3
