There was always a risk associated with cruising on the surface for an abyssal ship, especially near the shore so it was an understandably annoyed and stressed underground indie idol who arrived looking ruffled.
âiswearifiseethatdestroyeragainiâllâŚâ
âI mean hallo! Itâs me! Shinkai no idol: Oni-chan!â she said by way of greeting.
Being from the fleet of fog, her own status was unaffected by the war, as her faction was in a state of neutrality. Maya didnât fail to notice the appearance of the other and spun around on her deck to face Oni-chan.
âHello, iâm Maya!â Spinning around a couple times she couldnât help but excitedly exclaim, âItâs a carnival-dayo!â Pausing for a moment, she added, âWould you like to move somewhere else so youâre more comfortable?â
Location wasnât a big issue for her, so she could adapt pretty well to the otherâs needs.
Night In The Air & On The Sea
The blonde withdrew an arrow with F8F-2 printed on the fletching.
âItâs no trouble, it just means my girls will start with dogfighting maneuvers.â
Midway quickly notched her bow. As she pulled the string back, the two cams at the top and bottom of the bow spun and locked into place as the carrier locked onto one of the targets. Unlike the first carrier division members, she didnât have a yugake or muneate. As her fingers released the cams swung back around and thrust the arrow forward. Shortly after the sound of six radial engined fighters filled the air.
Sendai nodded decisively before beginning her torpedo run at the designated targets.
Casting a glance over to the blonde, she saw the otherâs bow let loose an arrow. The bow was definitely nothing she had seen before, it looked to be a work of a true craftsman. The bow appeared to be much more modern compared to the first carrier division, but to each their own. As the engines of the F8F-2 fired up, she turned her attention back to her practice, and she sped towards the first target. The tubes attached the her hips spun and aimed at her first target.
âThat isnât all. I have calculated that to depending on the gravitational effects you and your comrades impose upon the fabric of your universe means that creating a physical bridge could weaken the very fabric of space and time in both our universes.â
âI canât quantify how large the distortion is without more data but it is for the best you, your sister, and your fleet keep any weapons of that nature in lockdown to prevent quantum distortions here. If your engines produce similar distortions they shouldnât be too large of a concern.â
âWhich no doubt would cause even more issues between our worlds. We run many risks if we are to indeed try this physical bridge between our realities.â Iona was probably one of the causes of the worlds almost full on colliding, however there was no conclusive evidence that could really justify those thoughts, so she ignored them for the time being.
âI believe that shouldnât be much of an issue. The last thing weâd want to do is make our situation even more difficult than it already is.â Especially the mirror-ring system, no doubt using such a defensive weapon would cause an even deeper schism between this world and their home.
âIf anything a much more glorious battle could of been had, but that is my opinion. But I thank you for the praise frau Grafâ Bismarck remarked feeling somewhat flattered by the praise offered by the cruiser.
âAh, Hood, yes, our relationship, well we have buried the hatchet, it took another duel, one that played out almost similar to our initial encounter all those years ago for us to begin putting it behind us.â Bismarck explained firmly âWe still butt heads on occasion but, we are working towards burying the past to forge a new union between our nations.â
âYouâre welcome Frau Bismarck, it was a warranted one at that.â Graf acknowledged. She found herself flattered as well, when one of the best battleships of their Navy remarked on Grafâs exploits. Snapping back to attention, she listened to Bismarckâs explanation of the events that transpired when the two sides met.
âThat is good, at least we can let bygones be bygones.â Graf had yet to meet Exeter, Ajax and Achilles, but there had been no words of those warships, so she did not fuss over the detail all too much.
âNot everyone has to agree on everything, when we can realize that is when thereâll be true acceptance.â

âSounds good to me. If we follow this path we can get to the business and political section, and the other way will circle us back to the docks, then past them to downtown. Whichever way sounds nicer to you, captain.â She bounced on her heels a little, a smile at the thought of being able to stick around with him, she had grown âaccustomedâ as well, though some might call it creepy devotion.
âWe can head towards the business and political section.â Chihaya replied, that would give some more time to enjoying the sights. Although they were mostly talking and being absorbed into their conversation. Some would call it creepy devotion indeed, however Chihaya tended to miss those details, or was he simply ignoring her blatant signals? No one but Chihaya knew.
âAh, yes, that would be quite lovely. I do have some time to kill. The Admiral is so busy training the new girls, he doesnât seem to have any need to give us any attention. We may as well busy ourselves with something pleasant, no?âÂ
âWhat better way to enjoy our time than to have a little stroll. The new shipgirls must go through training to be strong like us. I believe the Admiral trusts that we will be fine and left us to our own devices; however boring it may be."
Stepping off to the side, Akagi nodded and let Shoukaku come alongside her.

âTrue. I suppose for right now we have better things to think about, donât we? We can figure it out when it happens.â Takao smiled just slightly over at Gunzou, then bobbed her head. âWe have more of this city to explore as well, if you like. Though..if given the option, I would probably choose to stay with you, Captain.â
Chihaya nodded in agreement as she expressed her thoughts. âI wouldnât mind having you with me as well Takao. Should we head to the next area?â Chihaya didnât mind having Takao around, after all he had grown accustomed to her and most of the other Mental Models heâd met throughout the war and in the aftermath of the fighting.
By now the sun was not too far from itâs high point above them, at least it wasnât a hot day, if anything there was a small breeze from the south.
@the-devoted-admiralâ Â // Â continued
Graf nodded happily as Bismarck spoke about the unfair advantage she and Prinz had against Hood. Graf was humbled at her speaking, but she understood well enough. Even Graf believed a well fought battle was a battle to be proud of. âThat is understandable.â
Thoughtfully she asked, âSo how are things between you and Hood? Iâve heard sheâs been around lately.â
Exploration
âMaybe. I know that Haruna and Kirishima are going to live with Makie, for sure. As for the rest of us, I hardly know what any of us might do. Maybe even never settle down and just keep roaming. As for me? I really donât know either, the concept of having a place to live in for a long period of time is almost alien to me after being on the sea for so long.â
âThatâs pretty much a given, that group will never be inseparable.â Chihaya nodded as she voiced her thoughts. âThatâs also understandable as well, the future isnât set in stone and can be changed. Plus, focusing on the future too much may take away from our present; the best we can do is to work our way to the future and see what it holds in store for us.â

"How are you doing Bismarck?" - Graf Spee
âAh guten tag, comradeâ Although she did not recognize the woman as they never met in a previous life Bismarck immediately recognized the accent of her homeland in the womanâs speech as well as the iron cross she bore on her uniform. âI am doing well, although you will have to forgive me if I do not know who you are. But it is a pleasure to meet you regardless.â
âAh, Graf Spee, tales of your exploits, while short-lived, are very impressive. Especially taking on three British cruisers by yourself.â Bismarck commented with a small smile. âA fitting title, after all at the time of your launching you could easily outgun most of the British navy at the time.â Bismarck continued on offering a few more compliments to her comrade.
Graf was genuinely flattered and surprised that most if not all the details were exactly on the mark. She was at a loss of words as Bismarck continued complimenting her. After recovering from the surprise she smiled and nodded. âDanke, I didnât know that so much was known about me.â Giggling a little she added, âIt did prove true during the duel with those cruisers, but in the end my crew came first. But youâre very impressive as well, clever and witty for misleading the British into believing you were heading to Germany rather than France and also sinking the Hood alongside of Prinz!â

After a minute or two his message sunk in and she snapped out of it. She tilted her head as she turned to look at him, then nodded slightly. âI suppose. Iâve never seen the inside of these little houses but they seem nice. A large chunk of the population lives in these or even smaller apartments. I presume they do so due to cost and residential area space requirements.
âThatâs true, iâve never lived in a small house, other than the dorms at the academy; I donât really count the academy as living in a small house however.â It was interesting to have a snapshot view of what itâd be like to live in those houses, âMaybe when I decide to settle down iâll find something similar to these houses, if not, then I could simply go live in my old mansion in Yokosuka.â
Those thoughts would no doubt be answered at a better time, but for now he still had different things to be focused on.

But it is a pleasure to meet you regardless.â
âGuten tag, the pleasure is mine.â Pausing for a second she nodded understandingly. âUnfortunately we never did since I never made it back to the Fatherland. But I am Admiral Graf Spee, a Panzershiff; the British like to call me a pocket battleship strangely enough.â Although Graf Spee was the Former German Navy Flagship, not too many people recognized her since she was scuttled less than a year into the war.

âOf course, Gunzou.~â She had that dreamy expression on her face again, too busy having daydreams now to really pay attention, though by some miracle she continued to walk with him without tripping over.
âI would be glad to come with you, to accompany you on the high seas.~â Yep, she was enjoying herself. The neighborhoods around them opened up a bit and the size of the residences grew a bit smaller and more personal as they walked, all the same.
Chihaya didnât fail to notice that Takao had gone off into her dream-like state. He didnât comment on it since it wasnât unusual for her. Not that it would do any good to comment anyways as she wouldnât be paying attention.
Looking at the houses he continued to take in his surroundings. The houses seemed to be different in the area, imagining how someone would live in them. He had lived in a big mansion with his mom before joining the Academy so these kinds of thoughts popped into his mind.
âIt must be interesting to live in one of these houses.â
Night In The Air & On The Sea
The blonde took a quick drink her thermos to get a bit more caffeine in her boilers.
âWell⌠It wasnât so bad when I first got here, late at night this close to Japan is well, afternoon or morning depending on what coast of the US youâre on.â
The carrier pulled out her compound bow and reached for an arrow from the hip quiver she had.
âAre you going to be going out onto the range for torpedo practice? If so thatâs fine, Iâll just get my girls set up in fighters rather than attack aircraft. My load out is mainly post world war two aircraft but the sound of their engines still tends to make some of your nationâs fleet uneasy. They were made by the same manufacturer as the Wildcat and Hellcat were.â
If Sendai were to go to the United States, no doubt sheâd be up at the more appropriate times, but then again she was always more active at night. Time difference wouldnât have too much of an effect on her, being active so much.
âThatâs fine, I will be doing torpedo practice and perhaps a little bit of gunnery. I donât want to wake up the other girls so late at night so Iâll keep it down in consideration of others. Itâs okay, the sounds donât really bother me too much and iâll make sure to not disturb your training.â

âOn the device and communications interface, yes. I lack enough electricity though to keep it operational for long enough to allow even one of you girls through, let alone the number that you sister requestedâŚâ
âIf there is too great a draw on the electrical grid it will be noticed, not only that but the meters will allow the utility companies to pinpoint exactly when and where the surge in demand came from. I have very little in the way of equipment here in the Research and Development department that could even come close to causing that sort of instantaneous demand⌠Even if all the devices were turned on at the same moment it would only give 30% of what I predict is necessary to mimic that sort of draw.â
âIt is a problem I had in the soviet union. Our electrical grid was much worse than it is here. I had to construct a large capacitor and only had a 10 second window to go through my gate before the output of the accumulators would drop to the point of dangerous instability. A timed explosive charge kept the device out of the Politburoâs hands.â
Bowing her head slightly and closing her eyes for a moment, she listened to him as he explained their rather dubious situation. No doubt such a high influx of electricity would cause some sort of suspicion within the various structures of government. Why would a port need that much electricity? Such explanations would be a pain to elaborate on.
âNo doubt youâd need some sort of independent power supply that could sustain such high demand for that device. Youâd need some kind of energy source thatâs powerful enough to be used over and over again without fail. But what piques my curiosity is how and why we were brought here in space and time in particular. Is it possible that thereâs a hole between our worlds that are causing us to show up? For some reason more and more of us are appearing which would only make your job harder than it is as of this moment.â
Exploration
âMaybe it is? You would need a fast ship with enough space to accommodate yourself and anyone else you wanted to bring along, and a heavy cruiser body could do that for you, even if I do still have guns onboard, but I could get rid of those.â
She tilted her head slightly towards him as they walked, a slight pink tinge on her cheeks.
âI think you will excel in anything you choose to do, though.â
âWell it does seem logical when you put it that way. Iâm not entirely sure who else would come with me. but it doesnât hurt to be prepared if any of them do decide to stay on board. Thatâd be quite the sight, your heavy cruiser body without weapons, but then again we wouldnât really need it unless an emergency were to arise.â
Chihaya smiled once again and looked back at the sidewalk and thought for a second before speaking up.
âIf it is an offer, Iâd accept. Thank you as well for believing in meâ
