i need to dedicate my life to what saved me. there would be no toad without music. i would have killed myself if not for pierce the veil and paramore and blink-182 and lizzo and harry styles and one direction and so much more. there are aspects of my identity i would not have discovered, there would be no toad without the flute. i woke up at 6am every day for three years jsut to play my flute. i stayed late after school and got away from my controlling and abusive family for three years just to play my flute. i got to spend time with other people outside of my family unit (not allowed) just to play my flute. i got over my stage fright playing the flute. i was first chair and section leader my senior year. my band director said he was sad to lose me in the band. my band won gold with distinction in a competition my senior year and the flute section was specifically praised in the judges notes. i am nothing without music. i made lifelong friends and connections playing my flute. one of my bestest friends ever i met playing the flute n sitting next to her every rehearsal. im self-taught n i gained so much worthy knowledge from her n she became more than my mentor she became my family. she pushes me to learn more. i miss my flute, i havent been playing since losing access to practice rooms. i dont want to bother my neighbors wit my flute so i havent played in a while but god i miss it. it is killing me not playing music it is killing me not creating it is killing me what is a musician without their instrument??? who am i without my flute????

gemma from bold baking is why i love baking so much. i used to watch her videos and recreate recipes in my moms kitchen. no one ate my sweet treats and they would stay on the counter until ants swarmed it. i havent rly tried baking seriously after that, testing recipes, and trying new things. ive baked box cakes and stuff like that n bought already made cookie dough but its been so long since ive baked something from scratch. (except bread, i love making bread) now i live wit my wife and ik she'd eat my sweet treats and no ants would come to take away my confections.
sharing food is fundamental to me. i dont cook for myself. maybe i should start but thats besides the point. i cook for everyone. i cook to share.

It had been a long night and after getting their ass beat by some demons, everyone needed a drink. Dean was still pissed about losing two demons in the commotion. Sam kept whining about how he could have done more. Ruby kept chastising him for not using his powers. And they were just over everyone’s sour attitude. Sure, the hunt had been a shit show from the start, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t look on the bright side. All four of them escaped a show down with multiple demons without any major injuries or deaths. They all had their lives and their strength.
Dean and Sam started a needless, idiotic, bickering argument over music that was only going to upset the both of them. Hearing them argue was especially annoying to the reader because the song that came on was actually good. The bar was finally playing a song they could dance to. They downed the rest of their drink, stood up, and held their hand out to Ruby, wordlessly offering her this dance.
Dean looked as if his eyes would pop out of his head. He couldn’t help but turn toward Sam to see his reaction. Sam looked just as shocked, as if this was the last thing he expected from either of them tonight. Ruby only had eyes for the Reader, she gave them a sinister smile as she quickly flashed her black eyes. She placed her hand in theirs and rose from her seat. Together they moved through the crowd of people to the dance floor. They were in a hurry to be close and to feel each other again.
Ruby pressed her body up against theirs as their arms circled around her waist. The two danced together in time with the music. Ruby's hips rolled against theirs conjuring memories of previous nights spent tangled in the sheets together. Their hands traveled down her back and rested on the demon’s ass, grabbing a handful. The two continued to dance, so close together they shared breaths. So in sync it was difficult to tell who was leading and who was following. The world fell away and it was just the two of them lost in the music and one another.
Until Sam interrupted by clearing his throat and awkwardly looking off to the side. The reader could sense Ruby tense with frustration as her body was still so close to theirs. She tore herself from their side and stalked over to Sam menacingly. They felt her missing from them as soon as she had left and so they stepped forward, hoping to be that much closer to her once more.
"What is it, Sam?" Ruby practically spat the question at him.
“The demons that got away from us earlier, are here. Dean saw ‘em come in and he sent me to get you two,” Sam explained the situation.
Just as the warning came, they noticed the demons pushing through the crowd heading right for the trio. Sam had moved in front of the Reader and Ruby, using his body to shield them both from the oncoming demons. Ruby grabbed onto their hand, she wasn’t nervous, not about the demons at least. She was nervous about Sam. He was running low on demon blood, and was worried that if he used his powers he’d hurt himself.
The reader squeezed Ruby’s hand in reassurance but it was mostly for their own comfort. They were feeling nervous about the demons. They hadn’t been up against many of them and they’ve always gotten badly bruised, physically and emotionally, after a fight with one. They didn’t understand why each Demon they tussled with was so talkative, almost as talkative as Dean in a confrontation. They preferred silence, it allowed them to be calculative and precise with their actions.
“Fellas, how about we settle this somewhere else,” Dean’s voice broke through the noise of the music. The demons that were gaining on them stopped to take in their new opponent.
Sam turned around to look at Ruby, “what do I do now?” Sam mouthed silently to Ruby.
She shrugged her shoulders and give him an annoyed look. “Do I have to do everything for you Sam?” Although Ruby whispered her tone was harsh and undercutting.
They noticed a flash of hurt across Sam’s eyes before he turned back around to face the demons as well as his brother. Sam knew he could end this all right now, but not without making a huge spectacle of himself and revealing his grim secret to his brother. Who would, no doubt in Sam’s mind, kill him immediately.
“No,” the larger demon snarled and blinked to showcase his black eyes. “It’s time we finish this and kill you hunters and the traitorous bitch.”
The other demon growled low and deep from its belly. It was ethereal how the sound reverberated throughout the room. Everyone felt it rumble underground as if the growl was amplified by every demon left in Hell.
“Let’s go!” It snarled at it’s partner, “I’m hungry for bloodshed.”
One demon lunged at Dean and grappled at Dean’s shoulders in an attempt to bring him down to the ground. Dean forced his arms up and out of the demon’s grasp. His fist cracked against the demon’s cheek causing blood to spray out of its mouth. In quick succession Dean landed another punch, an uppercut which sent the demon stumbling backward with his hands covering his face. Dean knew he didn’t have long, quickly he reached for where he kept the demon blade.
Meanwhile, the other demon was advancing toward the reader, Sam, and Ruby.
“Sam! DO SOMETHING!” Ruby screamed at him in anger. She was tired of his pussyfooting around, not using his powers or training enough. She had told him multiple times that Dean was slowing him down, keeping him from his true potential all because he was too weak and pitiful to stand up to Dean.
Sam was shaking with nerves and buzzing adrenaline. He knew he could handle this easily but he also knew what he would lose if he used his powers in front of his brother. At best he’d lose his life, and worst he’d lose his brother.
The demon hesitated for a second, Sam’s odd calmness was distracting to the demon. He had never seen someone either not try to fight back or not run away.
Sam decided losing anyone at the hands of a demon when he knew he could have stopped it would be worse to contend with than explaining his powers to Dean. A secret part of Sam hoped that Dean would understand, would accept Sam’s reasons, and realize that he’s actually doing good.
Sam held out his hand and focused on the demon before him. He took a deep breath and set his intention, he imagined the demon’s soul being ripped from the vessel’s body. The reader watched in horror as the demon shook and convulsed as if he was choking on his own tongue. His hands come up to his throat as black smoke started to escape from his nose and mouth in spurts with each cough.
“That’s a good boy, Sam,” Ruby’s words were praising but her delivery was indifferent.
Unable to watch the scene playing out before them, they looked over to Dean right at the time he sunk the demon blade into the demon’s midsection. He gave the blade a fierce turn and dug it in even further, sending the very edge of the hilt into the wound. Then he wrenched it out and the demon fell to the ground and blood the color of motor oil started to pool around it. After confirming his kill, Dean shouted for Sam and ran the few feet over to where the three of them stood. The reader knew if Sam’s secret got out, Dean would flip and inevitably cause them to choose sides. They didn’t want to see the hurt on Dean’s face when they chose Sam and especially Ruby over him. They needed to create a diversion, and quickly.
They grabbed Ruby by the collar of her shirt and pulled her in close. She gasped at the sudden movement, a delicious sound that they’d love to hear more of later. They pressed their lips against hers and kissed her hurriedly. She was stiff against them for a moment before she melted into their touch and played into the diversion. Ruby’s arms came up around their neck as she pressed her body against theirs. She kissed them back with equal ferocity. She tasted faintly of sulfur mixed with the rum and coke she was drinking earlier. They held her in place against them by splaying their hands across her low back. Her shirt had ridden up slightly exposing her hot skin that was almost burning to the touch.
Dean's mouth gaped open as his jaw hung in surprise at the closeness of the two. He would have never guessed his best hunting buddy would have the hots for a demon. After the initial shock, Dean kept watching clearly enticed by the steamy display.
When the reader and Ruby had finally separated, their cheeks were flushed and their chest was heaving. Ruby had a satisfied grin on her face, as if she had been wondering when that moment would come. They looked over at Dean to try and see if the diversion worked. His sight was still on them, taking in the way they looked. Shyly, they turned their attention away from Dean and back to Sam only to notice his eyes were completely black.
The vessel had fallen to its knees, the last of the black smoke had been coughed out onto the floor. It was breathless, wheezing and coughing, as its lungs struggled to expand properly. Dean was frozen, for the first time in a long time, he was truly confused during a hunt. He had been thrown so many damn curve balls today. How was that person still alive?
Ruby’s smile extended unnaturally, the grin was reminiscent of the chesire cat. Her eyes went fully black now too and a low cackling combined with the sound of snakes hissing filled the club. The reader looked around panicked, the maniacal laughter sounded as if it was far off in the distance despite how its presence filled the room. The slithering and hissing sounded like it was coming from under the floor boards. Dean began looked around frantically, brandishing his gun as if it would be helpful against whatever supernatural force was coming for them now.
Ruby slid up against Sam, “you’re stronger than I thought.” When she spoke the laughter and hissing ceased all together.
“What the fuck was that, Ruby?” Dean was shouting angrily as he turned around.
Again they were faced with a decision, to protect Sam’s secret. The reader reached up and turned Sam’s face toward theirs. They pulled him into a frantic kiss, their heart was beating fast with anxiety. Sam was steady and calm as he immediately cupped their face with his large hands. His tenderness was shocking but it helped ease them slightly. Only slightly, because they noticed Sam now had a similar sulfuric taste to Ruby tinged with the metallic flavor of blood.
For the umpteenth time this hunt, Dean was confused. He didn’t know all this inner dating had been going on, and he was feeling a little hurt and jealous that he wasn’t involved in any of the torrid affairs going on here.
“Sonofabitch,” Dean swore, “so everyone’s shacking up but me?”
