the shaking of the world dies down , but edgeworth’s doesn’t . eyes are shut tightly , and hands are clenched into tight fists , turning his knuckles white . his breathing comes out in shallow pants , some sobs falling into the mix .

a hand touches his shoulder and he jerks , eyes flying open . he scrambles to sit up from his apparent fetal position , and he lifts his gaze to find phoenix .

he doesn’t speak for a beat , he merely stares , then he blinks in surprise when arms wind around him .

Once it had passed and Miles had finally uncurled from himself, Phoenix wrapped his arms around Miles. He wanted to be the other man’s anchor. To keep him grounded and assure him everything was alright.

his body shakes aggressively still , mind racing in residual fear and panic . a deeper part of him brews with anger towards himself , scolding him for still being so weak and letting his past haunt him even after all these years .
