After finding out that our (almost) breakthrough was a lie and nothing but one of his adventures. You were left feeling confused, scared, and betrayed.
Of course you had wanted to get out of this place, you missed your life before. (If you could even remember what it was like.) While this place had been somewhat interesting to be in, you grew sort of fond with it in the beginning. And most of all, you grew sort of fond with Caine.
You were a sympathetic person, and you liked Caine for his effort in making everyone happy. Everyone just brushed him off, so you had taken the guts to give the AI some attention. Complimenting his adventures, laughing at his jokes, and even being a shoulder he could lean on to find answers in humans minds. You had wanted to give him a shot. If you had to stay here, it couldnβt hurt to give an AI some love. However, that grew into something more with not just you, but with Caine as well.
You had wanted to spend time with him more than the other people in this circus. And it seemed like Caine had wanted the same thing too. Handing picking you out to talk to, letting you stay behind on adventures to hang out with him, and just talking about whatever with him. The two of you had seem fairly close. Or⦠Too close, as the others would put it.
However, after the little βadventureβ he pulled, you didnβt know if you could even talk to him. You had felt many negative emotions, feeling cheated out of your freedom just for Caine to feel accomplished that he made everyone feel βsomethingβ and βgot what they wantedβ.
And even when he spawned in the lounge with another adventure for us, that had only ticked everyone off. Including you. Pushing another wacky adventure like you all didnβt just have a mental breakdown. Yet when the group had explained how they had a lot on their minds and wouldnβt do it, thatβs when Caine broke it.
βAnd since when you were in charge?β¦β Was all he had to say for us to taken back by his sudden boldness. Now explaining how much work he put in his adventures for us. Now see, you would be happy at the fact that he is standing up for himself. Yet with the thick anxious feeling in the air by the switch of his attitude, you were both anxious and a little scared.

Breaking into song like it was easier than to just speak it. And it had terrified all of you when Caine was just tormenting everyone like it was all fun for him.

When it came to everyoneβs singular beating as he sung, Caine didnβt really lay a finger on you. Sure, he included you when it was a group thing. Flinging you all around, rolling you all down the stairs, dancing in an embarrassing tight feathered dress with everyone. But never really took his anger out on youβ¦ Well, not right then he didnβtβ¦
And after sending us into a seven day adventure right after his rant, it was like everything he said was just backhanded or being sarcastic.
And even when you came out of the portal all drained and exhausted, practically about to fall onto the ground before me. You could feel Caineβs eyes on the back of your head. Usually, you would give a little compliment to him after an adventure. Telling him how well and thought out his adventures were. Yet this one, it was like it was specifically made to torture you allβ¦
Sitting in silence in an extra room with everyone while Caine had his βbreakβ. you sat in a un-phased silence as everyone was teleported one by one to have their personal visits with Caine. And not even you felt comfortable with sitting in a room with Caine alone as of now when you had seen everyone was hand picked.
However, the silence was filled when Pomni had the idea of putting a bucket on Kingerβs head, stating that we should just wait and trust her. While everyone, except Ragatha, was confused, we trusted them and waited patiently. Sitting in silence for what seemed like hours.
When Kinger had weirdly began to speak with less confusion in his voice, everyone was shocked. Hearing the conversation both Pomni and Kinger had made everyone listen in.
Yet, you had noticed how it has been a while since Caine had hand picked someone to torment, and it was a matter of time before someone was taken. Since everyone was wanting to hear what Kinger had to explain his backstory with him and the company C&A, you stood up from your seat with a little hesitation, saying how someone needed to distract Caine before he finds out what is happening. Everyone had agreed, knowing that you were fit for the job.
And if anyone could keep Caineβs AI mind off of things, it was you.
And with that, you walk out of the little room. Walking down the flight of stairs with an anxious trot. Nervous on how you could keep his mind off of everyone.
And also nervous on how he would torture you for the next hour or two. Would He put you in the shredder like how he did with Kinger? Stick knives in you like how he did with Pomni? You didnβt know.
When you had walked to the middle of the big circus room, you grew even more nervous. You used to feel so safe and comfortable with Caine, but this time felt nerve wrecking. The rest of the group was counting on you to keep him busy for the time being, you had to suck it up.
So with a deep breath, you called out his name. βCaine?β¦β A nervous tone on your voice as you did so. Looking around to expect him to spawn in front of you just that moment.
However, when you turned around, you jumped at the sight of Caine right in front of you. Saying your name with such forced enthusiasm, like he had waited for you.
βAh, I was wondering when you would finally crack!β Caine stated, planting both of his hands on his caine and letting out a forced laugh. You were going to butter him up to hang out, yet he had beat you to the gun.
βGood thing I seen you just in time! I was almost getting bored with everyone!β He explain with a tone that seemed backhanded. You only chuckled nervously at him, trying to seem delighted to see him.
However, when he turned his gaze at you, it seemed almost predatory. It makes you shiver down your spine. Caine then faces towards you fully, hands behind his back before he raises his hand to snap.
βBut, I think I would enjoy to have some quality time with you instead...β Just then, a snap echoed through the big room. Teleporting you and Caine elsewhere.
βYou know, my little spit of radiated sunshineβ¦β Caine spoke with a neutral tone, voice deep in thought. βI was thinking that maybe I should kick back and ease up on the wacky adventures so I can give you humans what you want...β Caine let out an exasperated sigh, breathing out like he had the weight of the digital world on his shoulders.
βAnd I did! And look at where that got me! Everyone persecuting me like I am the worst AI ever!β He shouted, voicing out all his frustration like he was holding it all in for years. Caine then looked down at you, his mixed colored eyes holding a sincere look in them.
βYou donβt think I am the worst, do you? My dear?β¦.β Caine spoke as he leaned down at you, his upper jaw forming into a worried frown from wanting to know your input on him. He would probably abstract if you had said he was.
However, you couldnβt even get a word out, not even a thought after what heβs doing to you.
You laid upon his large desk, shaking like a leaf. Face down and ass up onto the wooden surface as your arms were planted beside you. Pinned down by an invisible force that was keeping you in place as if you wanted to run. You were a panting, wet mess. Feeling drained of all energy by Caine.

Caine gave you a sharp thrust, knocking you out of that little head of yours to bring you back to him. Caine tore out a little gasp and shutter from you, immediately catching his attention as you clench around him. Desperate for him to move.
You shook your head a little in response of his question, letting out a soft βNoβ¦β And you could tell how far gone you were just by the sound of your voice.
Caine sigh as he crossed his arms and rested his Denture like head on his palm as he looked away in thought. βWell, of course you donβt. If you did then I would have been feeding you to those digital sharks like chum!β Caine joked, letting out his overly comical yet obnoxious laugh.
You let out a whimper when you felt his tentacles twitch and move inside you as he did so. Sending a wave of pained bliss through you. You wished he would move, you even prayed for it.
By now you would have told him to pull out, to leave you alone from how much he has worn you down. Yet you couldnβt even form words. Every time you would call out his name or tell him itβs too much. Caine would just shrug you off and rut into you to hear more of your sounds. Then telling you a snarky remark about how you seemed to be enjoying it.
It was all pleasurable torture, yet Caine still felt sympathy for you.
βYou always have been the most compliant and obedient of all of themβ¦β Caine stated, now having a softer tone as he spoke. βAlways telling me that my adventures were good, laughing along with my jokesβ¦β Caine dragged before leaning down.
Caine put his gloved hand onto of you head, like he was petting you. Comforting you as you shook from the soft torture he was giving you. βAnd most of allβ¦ Being there for me when I needed you the mostβ¦β He spoke with such a soft voice, it made you melt into the wooden table below. Finally relieved for him to finally calm down.
You sighed quietly, feeling achieved that you had gotten Caine to be distracted from the others for so long, and how it seemed that this torture was all over.
Does this mean he can let you go? Did he finally calmed down? Will you finally finish?
βButβ¦β Caine continued, catching you off guard. Feeling him still behind you. You had enough strength to turn your head just a little. Your eyes widened when you saw how quickly Caineβs expression had changed. Now dark and threatening.

You felt his hand pull your head upward, feeling that invisible force that held you down go away as Caine pulled you back just enough to make eye contact with him. βYou still choose to stand behind them as they demeaned meβ¦β Caine muttered darkly. βWowwe! That sure got me to blow off some steam!β Caine happily stated, fixing his little bow tie as he turned away. βMaybe I should start doing this ALL the time!β Caine stated, emphasizing the word βallβ.
Caine had rebooted for only a short amount of time, now feeling refreshed after playing with his stress ball. You, however, looked like a lifeless mess.
Shaking and on the brink of consciousness as your eyes swirled with dizziness and from the overstimulation. Your lower half was just absolutely drenched of your finished. Dripping upon the hard wood of his desk.

Caine still had some heart left in him for you.
Caine turned to you, floating before you as he put on hand on his hip and one to pat you on the head. βI should be off now! But donβt you worry my little candied Dill-pickle, I will be back before you know it!β And with that, he snapped his fingers and disappeared with the others.
Not even bothering to fix you up. Just having you lay there in a mess upon his desk as a reminder of who is in charge.

Things were looking up. Well, as up as things could look, recent events considered. After Jax's abstraction you, Gangle, and Zooble grouped to stay safe while trying to think of ways to safely deal with Jax. Sure, Jax was an asshole, and you always kinda resented him for how he treated Gangle, but you couldn't help how your heart felt heavy seeing his jagged form ram into objects.
You had tried your best to justify Gangle mumbling on about how she couldn't bring herself to cry for Jax. Said that she didn't need to do anything for him, not after how he treated her for who knows how long. She left you with a sad smile.
Before Jax had left everyone looking over their shoulders, you had spent more time with Kinger, especially after Jax called him out at the beginning of all of this. This wasn't his fault, not close to it. It was a mistake. Sure, a huge one on his part, but a mistake nonetheless. Anyone could have messed up in his situation, you know he tried his best. Most of the time you spent with him was learning to conjure things like shapes and flat surfaces. Once you had managed to conjure up a good-sized square, only for it to pathetically glide down to the floor like a piece of paper. The genuine chuckle that you heard from Kinger was worth it.
You thought about Caine. His last moments with everyone were always in the back of your mind, really. His frustrated pleas towards everyone stuck with you. You should've been beyond angry at him for how he tortured your friends, yourself included, but when he had you pinned to the wall alongside everyone else, you felt your heart break. Caine had to have seen your sympathetic expression aimed towards him because he refused to look your way a second time while he gushed to the unwilling circus members.
You wanted to talk about him with Kinger, but you didn't want to rub salt in the wound. You would feel like the scum of the earth if you confessed your sympathies towards the AI and were only to be met with betrayed looks.
When Ragatha pulled you with her to a hallway, alongside with everyone else, you asked what was wrong. She had said something about Pomni going to confront Jax before you were forced to squint your eyes from the sheer blinding white light that made everyone stop in their tracks. You barely had time to recognize Pomnis' figure before you were helping reel her back in with everyone else. She skidded to a halt in front of everyone, her entire body glitching in different places. You offered a hand to her and hoisted her up to her feet. You smiled at Ragatha as she promised Pomni that everyone was in this together.

Sometimes you'd get distracted by the softer memories you had with the ringmaster. Once you had found two differently colored pieces of small paper in a drawer in one of the halls. It was corny in retrospect, but you thought it would be a nice gesture. You had folded the papers to form a small flower. You had hesitated to call out for Caine at first, but did it before you could talk yourself out of it. He poofed into the air in front of you, lying on his side, cane in hand.
"Yes, my frabjous crab cake!" He had batted his eyes at you. You looked down at the small flower in your hand and offered it to him between two fingers. "Thought you'd like this. I learned to make these when I was younger and didn't see why not." You smiled at him. He had straightened his body from his lying position and stared down at the gift with small pupils. You didn't miss the uncertainty in his body language as he held his hands. As if he were unsure if you were actually giving him something. "You⦠You made that for me?" The hopeful shimmer in his eyes had cemented the idea in your mind to give him more handmade gifts in the future.
You nodded and ushered the craft towards him once more. He looked at the combined pieces of paper and carefully reached his hand out. His hand wrapped around your own for a moment as he grabbed the flower. When he brought the flower closer to him, he remained silent for a moment, only to take in the gift fully. He slowly looked back up to your eyes in a way that made you fidget in place. For a moment, you had thought that he might not have appreciated the quick gift, though that was shot down as he swung an arm around your shoulder and brought you into a side hug.
"Why, you shouldn't have! I'm simply so excited I could POP! It's not every day a human gifts me something!" You shrug your shoulders humbly at his thanks. "It's no problem, I'm glad you like it."
Oh, what you'd do to see his softened eyes again.

After a few more days, everyone had pitched in to help make Jax get more comfortable in the towering peaks of the blankets and pillows that made up the purple tent. You were glad Jax was as comfortable as he could be, no matter how much of a jerk he was.
After that, things had fallen into a strange calm. You and the others sat on the couches that made up the common area. Pomni lay on the purple coach, her jester body glitching near constantly. That was until the sounds of the glitches coming from her suddenly cut off with a small 'pop!'. Rightly confused, she looked down at her body and patted her seemingly healed self. You jumped to your feet, feeling your heart clench, and whipped your eyes to search the area.
There was only one person everyone knew who had done that many times before.
From a distance ahead of everyone, you saw him, Caine. He was holding his cane to his chest in a sheepish way, and his eyes were barely visible from behind his teeth. The others also rose to their feet, justifiably just as confused as you were. Because there he was, as if he had been here the whole time. You hadn't realized you had taken a step closer to him. "Caine?" If this were any other meeting with him, you're sure you would have been looked at weirdly by the others for how tenderly you regarded him. Caine's upper set of teeth lifted at the sound of your voice, and when he looked to you, his shoulders relaxed.
Though he quickly shut his teeth and shook his head as though to regain his thoughts. He looked back towards everyone. "Wait, I just need to say this." He spared a glance at you as an apology for changing the subject. "I⦠I'm sorry. For not listening to all of you, for keeping you under my thumb, for everything. I've had time to think about all my wrongdoings, and I know now that I should never have done that. To any of you. I won't ask you to forgive me." He took time to look at each of you as he spoke. His voice was so uncharacteristically quiet and soft, it took you way off guard.
You glanced at everyone around you and weren't surprised to see everyone in tense postures. Most of their faces were set in hesitant expressions. You heard the unexpected, but familiar sigh of Zooble, and everyone turned their attention to them. "Look, Caine, what you did to me, to everyone, is not something that we'll be able to just forgive." Caine's expression fell, and he closed his teeth. "But that doesnβt mean we can't work our way there eventually." Caine's teeth rose back up, and he looked at Zooble, awed.
Zoobles' words thankfully seemed to take off a good amount of the edge from everyone, physically at least. Caine straightened his posture, trying to resemble the confidence of his old self. "Well, I have a surprise for everyone! When you all are ready, you can meet me at the stage." With that, he floated off towards the stage, his eyes downcast. While the others cast unsure glances at each other, you wasted no time in following him.
You didn't call for his attention immediately, wanting to have a little privacy from the distance from the common area and the stage. When you thought the two of you were far enough, you broke the silence. "Caine?" He could sense you had closely followed him, so the sight of you hadn't surprised him. He glanced at you from over his shoulder before turning his body to face you. The two of you didn't break eye contact as he slowly lowered himself from the air until he was eye level with you. He uttered your name with the same sureness he spoke with a few moments ago.
Your expression softened, and a smile formed on your lips. "I'm glad you're back, Caine. Really." He released the nervous grip he had on his cane. His teeth lifted once more, and his eyes were blown wide.
This might have been too soon for him, but you'd regret not trying. You spread your arms open and look at him with a quirked brow. His gaze lowers to your open arms for a moment, then back to your warm gaze. You playfully tilted your head. "Gonna leave me han- oof!" Caine, wrapping his arms around you and burying his teeth as much as he could into your shoulder, cut your words short. You were taken aback by his quick movements for a moment. Though you quickly wrapped your arms around him in return and pressed your face against the side of his teeth.

It had been days, maybe weeks, since Caine became...Different. After his whole musical number about putting them back in their place, the atmosphere of the circus took a drastic turn. The gang tried every possible solution to avoid his 'brand new' unhinged adventures. Hiding, begging, screaming. Caine wasn't even listening anymore. He just snapped his fingers and they were off to another adventure.
Those didn't even seem complete. Walls glitched, textures were half there, and the storylines were sometimes lazy or straight up unfinished. Like Caine himself was mass producing adventures to ensure that they would be trapped in an endless cycle.
Like his passion for creating brand new worlds had vanished.
You'd think they could at least take the opportunity of being away from Caine during these adventures to take a break ? Nope ! If his hundreds of all seeing eyes caught them slacking off, NPCs would suddenly become more aggressive, faster and sometimes they'd be forced to move forward or pushed by invisible walls.
At this point none of them knew when this would end. Or if Caine would actually get tired of this constant torture. There was even a time where he shoved them right back into another adventure as they stepped out of the previous one.
"This...doesn't help." Said Jax the moment his back hit one of the lawn chairs outside the tent, in the beach area. Gangle suggested a 'nice' time outside, and since the whole group was now more united than ever before, they agreed.
"At least it's a nice change of scenery. Hey Pomni, do you want to show me those fish you mentioned when we were here last time ?" Ragatha asked, making sure that the conversation doesn't end up being about Caine again.
Time seemed to go by slowly. Maybe they were trying to savor the moment, maybe they were counting each second until Caine decided it was their turn again. "You know," began Zooble, as they helped Gangle making a sandcastle. "I never actually feared him. I mean, over the years, I just saw him as a meaningless part of my life. Something I can ignore and live without. I never thought he'd..." They didn't finish their sentence, simply sighing, before letting out a grunt of frustration after Jax crushed the sandcastle with his feet.
"What ? It's to keep you occupied. You're welcome." He said with a smirk, and then-
"That's so weird, do you think he deleted them ? Why would he do that ?" "I don't know, maybe he likes to replace and update his NPCs or something." Pomni and Ragatha came out of the water, and Zooble turned their attention on them.
"What's wrong ?" They asked, and Ragatha shrugged it off with a wave of her hand. "Don't worry, we just couldn't find the NPCs in the water. It's just nice to be out in the...." Ragatha paused, as she looked up. It was silent as everyone (except Kinger who was doing god knows what in a corner) stared at her.
"Uh guys...? Where's the sun ? W-Why is there no sun ?" She pointed out, mildly disturbed by her realization.
"Wait, I didn't see her when we stepped out." Zooble said, and another silence took over the group.
"Oookay..." Jax sighed, before continuing. "So no NPCs 'round the circus anymore. Caine defo lost it." "Defo ? Seriously ?" Zooble replied immediately, before focusing back on the situation. "But, yeah that's weird."
"It feels wrong to be out here now that we know we're the only ones around. Maybe we should go back inside ?" Gangle sounded worried, like usual, but this unsettling feeling quickly took over everyone.
So, they all began to head back inside. Big mistake.
"Ah ! There you are ! I was starting to think you all abstracted or something. That'd be really uncool of you guys." Caine floated near the entrance of the tent, no bubble in sight. Weird.
"Honestly I'd rather just abstract at this point." Said Jax in the most nonchalant way possible, before getting shoved by Zooble. "Hey ! Don't say that in front of him, we're doing the 'positive' sh*t, remember ?" They whispered angrily, reminding Jax of the strategy they had been using for a while now. Well, it didn't seem to work, but with time, maybe...
"Um...Nice...Seeing you Caine ! Is there an adventure you made for us today ? Looking forward to that !" A nervous chuckle escape Ragatha as she spoke, and Caine crossed his arms. He was truly unreadable these days, which was a drastic change from all the exaggerated expressions he'd normally take.
"Not quite, my dried starfish." His voice lacked his usual enthusiasm, and his nicknames were less and less joyous. "Today's adventure is completely up to you."
For a moment the group seemed to be somewhat reassured, until Caine snapped his fingers a bunch of times. Two glass cells appeared, one left and one right. Then, in front of the group, a panel with two buttons appeared. The exact same ones as the day they were tricked by Caine. The buttons that, in a way, started it all.
Then, Ragatha and Jax were thrown into the cells. "You, will have to choose one of them to sacrifice to save the other." Caine began his explanation, pointing at the now small and confused group. "If you press the blue button, A swarm of bugs will fill up Ragatha's cell, causing her UNFORTUNATE dismay." He said, and ignored the desperate cries of the ragdoll. "And if you press the red button, Jax will get electrocuted for all eternity. You have five minutes to ch-"

"Caine, this needs to stop." Pomni took a step forward, surprising everyone, even Caine himself. "You don't realize that you're going too far."
"You're putting us through hell. And for what ? Because you never listen to us and suddenly we're ungrateful ?" Zooble spoke again, and for a second, Caine seemed to be internally struggling. He didn't speak. One of his hands started to glitch.
"U-U-Ungreahejsi-" His head started to shake mildly, before his unstable state got back to normal "Ungrateful ! That's all you're good at ! I work, and work, and work endlessly, to adapt to you, to shape my adventures in ways that will appeal to everyone."
In a very disturbing way, he slowly started to grow bigger and bigger, additional limbs tearing through his body until he took up most of the space.
"I made this all for you ! Human after human, I have to stare at my failure as a host when one of you abstracts. And when I try harder to keep you sane, you spit in my face !" His multiple hands violently grabbed all of them, breaking through the glass cells to get a hold of Ragatha and Jax too. Their kicks and screams do absolutely nothing against Caine as his eyes pierce through their very souls.
"If it wasn't for the fact that I can't stand the circus when it's empty, I'd have you all in the cellar in the snap of a finger ! Don't you understand by now ? I AM YOUR GOD-"

The moment Caine's eyes drifted to the stage, his hands let go of everyone. The second after, he was back to normal, like he had been rebooted entirely. Except he hadn't been.
His eyes had caught you. Hopeless you, staring with horror at what you had just seen. Standing up on that stage with wide eyes.
A new human had just appeared, at the worst time possible.
The other humans barely had any time to register the fact that they had been dropped. They completely forgot about the previous argument, forgot about Caine. Everything in them screamed to run towards you. To grab you violently, to make sure that vr headset removes itself from your head, to save your life.
But they couldn't move. Caine couldn't move either. Not only did you chose a very bad time to arrive, but also...You were...you. You had hair, human skin, human eyes, human...Like you were not supposed to be here, not like that, not right now.
"My...MY ! Where are my manners ?!" Caine had snapped out of his trance, straightened his bowtie and he floated towards you. He did his usual speech, presenting the circus, all that, before randomly turning his head towards the group.
"Oh !" He snapped his fingers, and they were all teleported to their own rooms. He had moved their rooms to the void, of course ! Can't risk Jax freeing everyone with his bucket of keys after all ! He couldn't have them in the way, not for now.
"Please ignore them, my..." A breath of hesitation, or perhaps frustration, left him as he realized something.

Sometimes he almost drives you insane, he is extra thick in the head, he does apologise a lot though when he notices you are upset, even if he doesn't really understand why you are angry at him.
You're his only braincell, voice of almost reason, when he listens to you, trial and error things sometimes get better other times not.
He doesn't know how to kiss, he has no lips, the closest he can get to it is closing his teeth and touching your mouth, at first he felt it was weird but now can't help but do all the time.
Jax teases him a lot about you, though anything malicious flies right through his head.
He is a bundle of anxiety, who is constantly trying to distract himself, you do need to bring him sometimes from a strong buffering after his program finding itself in conflict with a new information.
He still calls you his best friend, and he means it.
