Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - 1x09
Snoozin’
i never ended up really playing destiny until about 6 months ago, but its been a part of my life since i was four. My dad has been playing destiny since launch, my earliest memories were watching him play late at night in our living room, tucked away on the couch as i watched him cuss in frustration at a boss. Soon it went from the couch the floor behind him, and then it went from there to sitting right next to him. I would sit there for hours asking him questions about the game, making comments about things i didnt really get but amazed me nonetheless. I always looked forward to being able to sit and watch him until i bregungenly went to bed after he told me too. I still remember the car rides where it got bits and pieces of destiny lore from the Byf videos he would watch. Looking at all of his destiny merch and staring in wonder at the intricacy of the figures. The late night talks where the topic would divert to destiny because i would always somehow make it about destiny. I still vividly remember the day he completed final shape. I watched in pure awe as he fought the witness. It was like nothing i had ever seen before. I teared up at caydes final speech even though I never knew him. I stared at his warlock that had perched hinself on a ledge staring out at the traveler and the first thought that popped into my head was "i want to be a part of this". It took me another 2 years to finally get the time to actually play, i started with final shape durring my winter break and oh my goodness did it change my life. If im being honest those 6 months of innocent bliss where I thought I would finally be able to really play the game I had watched from the sidelines was some of the best months of my life. I’ll never regret playing destiny, my only regret is that I didn’t play it sooner.Your community was so welcoming and kind and I’ve loved being apart of it. Thank you for giving this loser 16 year old the time of day ❤️
Aww man this made me tear up a bit. Thank you so much for sharing your story. You're very welcome among Destiny folks, do be cautious as a Little Light, but there is indeed an absolute boatload of amazing, kind people here. This is amazing memories to have, and something so special to share with your dad! I'm glad you got to play it yourself and will hopefully play more of the game as time goes on, despite the sad developments.
