This is something I’ve never completely understood about parents that shelter/‘protect’ their children from the world to a degree that is detrimental. Your child will exist in this world their entire life. Even if you home school your child in the middle of nowhere, there will come a day where they will have to enter the world and they will be woefully unprepared, with no one to lean on because you did not let them form bonds in the community. It is about control and parental laziness, not about ‘protecting’ the child. It is easier to make them figure out the difficult facts of life on their own than to hold their hand as they are learning naturally.
