we tend to create an “improved” version of ourselves in our minds- a thinner or smarter or more capable or healthier person. But this is dangerous because it discounts who you are right now and more importantly it can make your experiences conditional.

“I can’t go to class today, I’m not lively enough.” “I can’t go to that party tonight, I’m not pretty enough.” “I can’t go talk to my friends right now, I’m not happy enough.”

This cultural cult of self-improvement and whole ideal of waiting until you are your “best” self limits your engagement with the world, it makes your life conditional on some unattainable goal and holds your life hostage to “better”

there is no better, there is only here and now and a you that is just as good as the you before and just as good as the you of the future because there is no hierarchy of selves, just a decent human being doing their best with the resources they have available. All versions of yourself are good versions.

Now I never listened to, or heard of Mac Miller until he died and granted I’m almost positive he had a lot of fans, but am I the only one that feels like Ariana was totally in the wrong for publicly tweeting out how he deserved it over Cardi

Like you have a woman of color winning and thats only happened 1 other time, for something she worked just as hard for (pls listen to Get Up 10 on her album), and your first gut reaction is to rant???

And I know she keeps saying it was nothing personal but what Ariana needs to understand is she’s a public figure- literally like anything she says? goes with her fans. (which is why that whole tattoo thing and queerbaiting in her video was dumb and harmful asf)

People take her mood and imitate that. So instead of expressing her frustration belatedly, or even doing it while still not taking anything away from a woman of color, she threw Cardi under the bus, and even got her fans calling Cardi trash

Only to then turn around and go “uwu thats not what i meant” as always.

I like Ariana Grande but things like this leave bitter tastes in my mouth abt her.
