All I want to say is, when a mainstream author wants to write a male character who's attracted to women, they're not shy about it, it doesn't get buried under layers and layers of subtext, it's right out there in the open and you don't have to go looking for it. And even a long time before I figured out what I was I always remember feeling disappointed and betrayed when some male character I felt some connection to would inevitably wind up being horny or romantically effusive over some female character, and it took me way too long to realize it was some tiny part of me going "oh well...yet another one who's Not Like Me." So on the rare occasion that it could be there and it's not...I notice.
media is pretend and not real but sometimes the way people mischaracterize my favorite pretend little dudes makes me feel very real rage
Thinking about Crowley and Aziraphale being a couple of weird old fruitcakes, looking at all the pictures of pretty women that humans get all flustered over and not really understanding what all the fuss is about, but at least understanding each other, makes my dumb gay ass feel a little less insanely lonely.
Still thinking about how the book was like "people are just people, even when they're demons (but people in power are often huge jerks)" and then the show replaced that with "the david tennant demon is special and not evil and gross like other demons, you can tell because he doesn't have a skin condition" and like why

Sometimes a stupid meme is the only good way to summarize what's really going on.
Everyone who draws book!Aziraphale with a full head of straw-blond hair, no wrinkles and slender hands owes me twenty five US dollars.
Really gotta wonder what Pratchett was thinking, writing about a demon with "good cheekbones", who can do "weird things" with his tongue, who's secretly obsessed with the "pleasures of the world"...and then have him show absolutely no interest in women while having a clingy codependent relationship with his very-gay-coded angel friend. đ¤
Ah, this actually sounds like the way Adam is described multiple times? Here's Anathema's first impression of him:
Maybe that's what people are misremembering as being about Aziraphale for some reason.
Although of course Adam's potentially-angelic genetics are also implied to have come from his bio-dad...so what we should really take away from this is that Lucifer is canonically blond.
Really funny when a regular old vanilla tee ee arr eff stumbles into the middle of a fandom full of people who think beings created without dicks canât be men and being non-binary means you canât be gay, and the latter start pointing fingers and shrieking. Like youâre all some flavor of transphobe please do me a favor and fight each other to the death, thank you.

Here we see Crowley, even in his hour of greatest despair, still trying to convince himself that he and Aziraphale are two obviously and fundamentally different sorts of people, but the sunglasses aren't fooling anyone.
Neil G*man has to be the only motherfucker in the universe who's so boring it loops back around into being entertaining again.
The book never once describes either his hair or his eyes in any way lol
He could be bald with neon red eyes for all we know.
marshall-peregrin: honestly I think the whole thing kinda also has to do with neilman once stating that crowleyâs fav velvet underground song is pale blue eyes. please donât ask me to source this tho I donât wanna go through his social media youâre just gonna have to take a strangers word for this. this isnât to say that the blue eyes thing isnât weird itâs just the one explanation i personally have.
Yeah Iâve seen that post before; referencing that song is literally the only way the blue-eyed aziraphale headcanon has any rights. (He said his other favorite song is âMirrorâ though which is just all around a better choice).
Aziraphale is described as having âfair hairâ but his eyes are never mentioned. I think itâs very strange that fans have latched onto blue-eyed Aziraphale considering that even Michael Sheenâs are grey. Havenât we had enough of angels with âeyes like the skyâ. Give grey and brown eyes some love people!
Gonna be that person but the âfair hairâ thing comes from something Neil said on tumblr fairly recently about how he (and maybe Terry?) imagined the character (to justify TV!Crowleyâs red hair as being âdarkâ), but itâs still never described in the book. The only physical description Aziraphale gets are a few mentions of his hands (plump and elegantly manicured), his coat (camel hair), his tie (undescribed), and the fact that his fashion sense is stuck in the 1950s.
The rest of this checks out though.
EDIT: Found the post, you have to scroll down a bit though.Â
And thereâs this too.

Showmens fans wonât stop calling TV!Aziraphaleâs eyes blue so I websearched âMichael Sheen eye colorâ in a fit of getting-to-the-bottom-of-this and like multiple celebrity fan websites refer to his eye color as âblueâ, sometimes âwith a hint of yellowâ even right next to photos where his eyes are obviously grayish brown and just what the fuck.

My shitpost about funny English place named went viral with non-gooey-mens tumblr and I am so uncomfortable right now
I was just reminded that thereâs this absurdly dedicated Aziraphale RPer who apparently has access to a large number of real life old books and such who has a tumblr linked to the domain aziraphale dot com and a twitter at @Mr_AZ_Fell and whoeverâs running it is so painfully heterosexual and unfunny and milquetoast liberal that sometimes I think itâs a side project of neilman himself.
