6000 Years and Still Flaming

All I want to say is, when a mainstream author wants to write a male character who's attracted to women, they're not shy about it, it doesn't get buried under layers and layers of subtext, it's right out there in the open and you don't have to go looking for it. And even a long time before I figured out what I was I always remember feeling disappointed and betrayed when some male character I felt some connection to would inevitably wind up being horny or romantically effusive over some female character, and it took me way too long to realize it was some tiny part of me going "oh well...yet another one who's Not Like Me." So on the rare occasion that it could be there and it's not...I notice.

Thinking about Crowley and Aziraphale being a couple of weird old fruitcakes, looking at all the pictures of pretty women that humans get all flustered over and not really understanding what all the fuss is about, but at least understanding each other, makes my dumb gay ass feel a little less insanely lonely.

Still thinking about how the book was like "people are just people, even when they're demons (but people in power are often huge jerks)" and then the show replaced that with "the david tennant demon is special and not evil and gross like other demons, you can tell because he doesn't have a skin condition" and like why

Really gotta wonder what Pratchett was thinking, writing about a demon with "good cheekbones", who can do "weird things" with his tongue, who's secretly obsessed with the "pleasures of the world"...and then have him show absolutely no interest in women while having a clingy codependent relationship with his very-gay-coded angel friend. 🤔

Showmens fans won’t stop calling TV!Aziraphale’s eyes blue so I websearched “Michael Sheen eye color” in a fit of getting-to-the-bottom-of-this and like multiple celebrity fan websites refer to his eye color as “blue”, sometimes “with a hint of yellow” even right next to photos where his eyes are obviously grayish brown and just what the fuck.

I was just reminded that there’s this absurdly dedicated Aziraphale RPer who apparently has access to a large number of real life old books and such who has a tumblr linked to the domain aziraphale dot com and a twitter at @Mr_AZ_Fell and whoever’s running it is so painfully heterosexual and unfunny and milquetoast liberal that sometimes I think it’s a side project of neilman himself.
