What is the point. Why am I even watching these. Why did I decide to take on this cursed quest. For a writing project? Because I thought it would be "cool" to know everything there was to know about spy movies?
Yeah. Yeah, I guess.
I described Skyfall as "the Rimworld nutrient paste of Bond movies". Spectre is somehow even moreso this. The bond girl is nothing. The plot is stupid. There's too many characters and they're too hard to tell apart. The villain sucks. It's too long.
The scene where Bond drives a crashing plane through a forest is kinda cool I guess. The opening sequence is also cool, as always, but it's like... a better movie in and of itself than the actual movie.
2/10, the lowest rating I've given so far, I think. I'd rather rewatch Casino Royale (Climax!) 1954 than this.
Detective Heart of America: The Final Freedom (2015) 4K (2026) Review
Feels so nice to be able to just link to the movie for once.
So this isn't really a spy movie. And, if we're being honest, it's maybe not quite a detective movie either. But it is America, and yesterday was America day, so I rewatched it, and now I'm reviewing it, and that's what's happening.
So yeah, I've seen this one before. It's been so many years though, I actually forgot most of the plot! For once though, it's not because the movie is bad or unmemorable, it'd just been a while.
In fact, the movie is very good.
DHoATFF is an absurd indie film by FilmCow, better known for such works as Charlie the Unicorn, and Llamas with Hats. Llamas with Hats, it should be noted, is probably at least a 9/10 in my opinion- and if you've been following my posts, you know I don't hand out high numbers like that lightly.
DHoATFF isn't as good as LwH, But I'd still give it like, a 7.9/10, which is still high for me.
You may be starting to suspect that my ranking system is possibly stupid. I intend to have a post that explains my methodology at some point, but for now:
DHoATFF is unique. It's funny. It's never boring. It's short-ish. It's not afraid to soapbox (a positive, in my eyes). It's stylistically experimental.
And if I wanted to watch something else like it- too bad. There's not much. It's this or bust, and that cranks it's rating way up for me.
The negatives for me are, one, it's a bit of a downer. And two, some of the characters have really annoying voices. The first issue is mostly balanced out by all the humor, and they've got a point to make anyway, so it's forgivable. The second issue I think will outright ruin the movie for some folks, and I don't blame you if you just can't take it.
The point they're making, by the way, is that of the follies of American exceptionalism. DHoA Is so obsessed with his own twisted patriotism that he can't see he's standing in the way of everything his country is supposed to stand for.

Today's Progress: Partially fixed what was wrong with the fool ability. It still bugs out sometimes because of the special way the "basic attack" is handled by the game, but with most abilities it works fine.
Today's Progress: Fixed the thing that was wrong with consumables!
...Not sure, like, HOW I fixed it. I just kept messing with the code that adds and removes things from the list of taken abilities, and eventually I had it so screwed up that I just started deleting changes I'd made so I could start over, and in the process noticed that the problem seemed to be gone, even though I thought I'd undone most of my edits and none of them had seemed to work. I guess I missed one or two, and that by itself fixed it???
Whatever, it works again. Yay!

Well, I have a new favorite chapter. Chapter five was... incredible.
Gameplay? Amazing. New characters? I can't believe how hard I came around on them. Weird route? Fucked. Music? Maybe the best so far- I can't stop listening to this cover of Flower Man.
I'm also impressed at how they aren't holding back on the difficulty! A lot of the fights are really tough- though that does lead me to my one point of criticism, which is that some of them aren't exactly... fun. Does anyone actually like Pink's bomb attacks?
On the same note, I'm a little conflicted on the pink coins. Those took me FOREVER to track down. Though I do appreciate that looking for them got me to really take the world in, learn the map decently well, find a few secrets... not all of them- I missed at least the treecake and egg. But I did find the dog dollar! I'm a little proud, that was pretty hard. I like to imagine that most people missed it, and I am the amazing BEST GAMER for not.

Just a fire version of the ability from yesterday. Can't think well enough to do anything more, head full of Deltarune, been playing it since I woke up. I just beat chapter five.
