Oh my prince, I will give you my life if you make some headcannons about what each bot would do if human!reader fell asleep in their chassis.
I'm a firm believer that Optimus has one of those beds in the section of his truck where truckers put their beds so they can sleep on the road.
Optimus has had one of the worst days ever. He's transformed and giving everybody the silent treatment to avoid shouting at someone. Reader walks up while everybody is trying to get Optimus to talk, opens his door, and goes inside with a pillow and blanket, the door locks behind them.
His smokestacks are pouring out black smoke, his engine rumbling. Even if he doesn't want to admit it, he doesn't really care for Reader's invasion right now. He feels them lie down, their EMF field echoing his own frustration. He sends a message to the Autobots that he's going to do some reconnaissance to take a breather, and that Reader is with him.
30 minutes into the drive, Reader is OUT, and Optimus remembers that the human mind does not allow itself to fall asleep unless it feels safe. 2 hours into the drive, he forgot what he was so mad about. He'd just been focusing on the lively landscape of the planet he so adores. He calls in every hour to tell everyone that nothing has happened.
4 hours after he's left, Optimus returns. When turning into the base, Reader wakes up (yknow when you're napping in the car and you recognize the Turn[tm] that means you're home?). Optimus figures out how to handle what he was so angry about and goes to handle it after Reader exits his chassis, smelling like a truck.
This ended up being longer than I thought it would, but I wanted to give you The Vision
Much adoration and appreciation
- Someone who wants these bots to be real :(
Love this snippet you've wrote! You've clarified that this is Bayverse Optimus, and that's a large part of why I like your musings so much. I'm not particularly inspired by Bayverse, but I'm curious about what the folks who are have to say about it.
I got carried away and ended up writing an entire fic for just Jazz. Oops. Maybe I'll make other parts in the future lol.
It's likely past midnight by now as you watch the colorful city lights pass by from Jazz's passenger seat. You yawn as drowsiness slowly overtakes you and the memories you've just made slowly drift from your mind.
Tonight was awesome, you're not sure you remember a time where you've smiled this much in one sitting before. You'd snuck Jazz's holoform into a nightclub. In hindsight it shouldn't have surprised you that he'd managed to expertly forge an ID to present to the bouncer. His grin after seeing your amazed expression once you'd stepped inside was, frankly, adorable.
The club had spectacularly good vibes, which were the foundations holding Jazz's and yours energies so high. You're not sure who was more excited - Jazz, for being introduced to a new facet of human culture yet again born from music; or you, elated to finally have a friend to go clubbing with. Although, do the details really matter if you're each on the same wavelength? You guess not. The giddy blur of your shared dancing and laughter was like a flame so potent, it could awaken a steam engine.
That fire still burns within you, though subdued to cozy, warm embers. Jazz seems to feel it, too, because he's been quiet for a while now. The only indications that he's still present are the focused turns he makes while driving back to your house and the quiet music playing from his radio. While silences are rare between you, like this one they are often comfortable. You're each satisfied from your activities, and it's time to bask in that warm, safe feeling that follows.
Jazz can't pinpoint exactly when you dozed off (not that he needs to), but he's aware once he reaches your neighborhood.
No response. You usually hum in acknowledgement or half-heartedly pout at this.
He turns his attention inward and relaxes when he finds you sound asleep, your hands wrapped loosely around the seat belt holding you.
You have no idea how much it warms his spark when you show trust like this. Not that he thinks you don't trust him, he knows you do. But this? Knowing that you feel so comfortable and safe with him that you'll fall asleep literally inside of him? Gosh. It has him feeling all sorts of soft.
He's just about to snap a pic to save to his memory banks when he makes that familiar turn into your driveway, rousing you from your sleep.
"Oh. We're already here." You mutter drowsily, sitting up and sluggishly rubbing the sleep from your eyes, "Ha, sorry. Didn't mean to fall asleep.".
"All good." You know Jazz is smiling from the inflection of his voice.
Once inside your garage, you exit the sentient Porsche who's also an alien and your friend and exchange goodbyes. Jazz makes his way back to the Ark after you disappear into your house. He's very pleased with tonight's events, and he hopes to repeat them soon.
