“My first instinct is to throw them a party,” Caine responded after a quick thought. “But something tells me that’s not appropriate,” He explained and then thought some more. “Maybe we can link up with the Demeter cabin and get them some flowers? But that’s so generic. A card too, maybe, though?” He suggested, snowballing on his idea. “We need something that states: we’re sorry that this happened to your family, we want you to know that you’re cared for and thought about. What says that? Do you have any ideas?”

“Maybe, we could bring something for Keaton to do while he’s in the infirmary,” she says. “Being stuck to one place is really boring, there’s got to be something we can bring.”

Caine nodded sullenly even though his best friend was indeed standing in front of him. Being reminded that she could leave him at any moment made him think about their quest and then he thought about not being there for his brother and then it was a never-ending slippery slope from there on out. “…I can’t imagine how Blue and her brothers are feeling either. Their cabin has been through so much,” He pointed out with a frown. “I’m so glad that Alec is okay,” He added and then reached out to pull Fizz into a hug when she paused. He kept his arms around her as she talked and he listened intently. “It was almost them, but it wasn’t. That’s the good part in all of this. Alec is okay and you’re okay and everyone is still here,” He let her go now and looked at her. “If you find out who it was, I don’t know what I’ll do. But, you can’t blame yourself. Even if it was your explosive, it was an accident… Should we do something nice for the Hephaestus cabin?” He asked after a pause.

Fizz let Caine hug her for a moment, letting her anxiety calm down before she answered his question. “Probably,” Felicity replied. “What do you think we should do for them?”

Caine listened to Fizz and wished that he could tell her the exact truth about what was exactly on his mind, but instead, swallowed hard and shrugged in response. “I’ve just been slightly shaken up since the forges incident and, I wasn’t even there,” He explained, embellishing. “I kept thinking about what if that was you inside, instead of that Hephaestus boy? I feel helpless sometimes and I hate it, so, instead, I practice. It calms me to be out in the ocean like that,” He nodded out to the water that he had just removed himself from. He paused for a moment and then continued on. “I also can’t stop thinking about how it’s a new year and it already feels like the longest year ever.”

Fizz nodded in understanding. “Hey, I’m here, I wasn’t in the forges, I wasn’t inside. Though I understand,” she told him. “I can’t imagine how Blue and her brothers are feeling, it was almost Alec in there, he was the one who found the fire and got me. It could’ve easily been him and I don’t know what I would’ve,” she paused, scared to think about if Alec was hurt from one of her explosives. “It was my explosive, Caine, I’d been teaching Blue how to make them. They said at the counselor meeting that the fire was set from inside the camp not from Hecate coming back or some shit and honestly, I just want to set them on fire. It was almost Alec.”

“Yeah, years of practice. That means you had to be dedicated to something for a long time and perfected a skill over that time. That’s something to be proud of, in my opinion. It’s just like me with my abilities. I’ve gotten better at them too,” Caine responded and then shrugged. “Still, even if it ‘just happens’, it’s still pretty cool.”

Fizz shrugged. “So what made you come out here and practice, something on your mind?”

“You can, though!” Caine pointed out and then continued. “You can manipulate luck, that’s the coolest. You can do all sorts of stuff with that,” He explained and then took a seat in the sand next to Fizz. He looked over at her while he talked. “And, not to mention what you can do with an explosive. You don’t need abilities to be cool.” He commented.

“Explosives are just something that came with years of practice,” she replied. “Besides I’m not the best with manipulating luck, most of the time it just happens.”

“Oh, Hecate. Hm, that’s neat,” Laurel responded and then nodded when Fizz answered her question. “I have two at camp that I know of, but I’ve only met one of them because the other isn’t within the borders at the moment,” She commented. “But, yes, that’s what they say about siblings but I don’t think I could ever get mad at Kerrigan. She’s too sweet.”

“She seems it, I don’t really know her well though,” Felicity replied. “I try to get mad at Alec occasionally but it’s like really hard I’ve found out.”

They beam and put the other blue die into their pocket, before pulling out another die, somehow exactly the one they wanted. “This shade of orange!” they announce, holding it up to the light. “But I also like yellow.”

“That’s a nice shade,” she said watching their dice. “Do you carry those with you all the time?”

“That’s cool. Probably a Hephaestus kid, huh?” Laurel commented as Fizz talked about when she first came to camp. Laurel had always liked the Greek myths and it only now made sense to why exactly she felt that connection to them. “I guess I understand putting your own twist on things, but I like to play things by the book most often. It feels safer,” She responded and then nodded when Fizz continued on. “How many brothers and sisters do you have?” Laurel questioned, wanting to learn more about the Tyche cabin and all the cabins really.

“He was actually a kid of Hecate, he left a couple years after I came here though,” Felicity replied. “I actually have only one sibling, Alec, they’re amazing, they get on my nerves a little but what sibling doesn’t, right?”

Caine could still feel the water sloshing around his knees as he stood out in the water and listened to his friend. He chuckled as she skipped a rock his way and made his way up toward the shore and to Fizz. “Sorry,” He apologized. “I’ve been learning a lot of things lately,” He commented. “Want to see more?” He asked with a smile and didn’t wait for an answer before making the water that he was now ankle-deep in start to bubble and swirl and sparkle.

Fizz laughed, smiling at his abilities with the water. “Man, I’m so jealous you can do that,” she admitted with a smile. “I wish I could do cool stuff like that.” She sat down in the sand, watching her best friend. She pat the sand next to her for him to come over and sit down.

“Dark blue? Like, wait,” they fish a handful of dice out of one of their pockets and pick two out, one a deep indigo-blue and the other a navy that’s so dark it’s almost black. “Which one?” They tilt their head. "Luck power, eh? I always thought it was my superstitions coming true.”

Fizz let out a large laugh when Alec pulled out the dice. “Um, that color,” she said pointing to the indigo colored one. “I mean, it’s quite possible considering who mom is. Though, you might just natural be lucky or something.” Felicity shrugged. “What about you? What’s your favorite color?”
