It's so hot out right now I'm considering Aqua Zumba. I'd never Zumba on dry land I don't think (more power to you if you do!), but I'm melting. Anyone ever tried it? Wondering if it'll be like joining a silver sneakers workout or if normal 20-somethings do this sort of thing.
Spotify is my new favorite tool. Free, pre made playlists, and an endless supply of new music. Truth is, Kay has been telling me to use it for months but Iâm just lazy with apps. Today I listened to nothing but 90âs and pushed myself a little harder on the elliptical. I swear music makes all the difference in my speed and stamina.
Try it out!

Check out our balls!
Ha! We've been playing with some balls at the gym lately, and want to tell you all about it. We love Planet Fitness because their "judgement-free zone" is a real thing. We really don't feel judged at the gym, and only recently have we taken the next step and slowed ourselves down. Here are our feet in the air while we passed an exercise ball from our hands to our feet (and took a photo while holding it up!). It is ok to sit on the side, scroll through your Pinterest boards, and figure out some new exercises to try. So, take your time and see what new strategies you can use. We have been feeling much stronger effects from these workouts than our previous routines using the machines. If you're so inclined, submit your photos and we'll share them!

Best mindset!
I woke up this morning feeling surprisingly good. I slept through the night, and my muscles weren't sore anymore! (So I immediately went to the gym and now feel like my arms may fall off entirely.) But, I need to keep in mind pain isn't the only sign of an effective workout. The article below was pretty helpful, and in all honesty I'm starting to rethink cancelling my DailyBurn subscription! http://dailyburn.com/life/fitness/doms-muscle-soreness/
Donât just drink water, chug water! BeyoncĂŠ says she drinks about a gallon a day so thatâs probably what we should all be drinking. Always ask yourself, âWhat would BeyoncĂŠ do?â in regards to all of your fitness goals.
Feeling sore is a good thing! Weâve been trying to use some new tools and strategies at the gym lately and the proof is in the pain! If youâre not a little sore, you need to step up your workout!

Hi bitchez!
(That is just too fun to resist.) Iâm feeling a littleâŚfeelyâŚand wrote down some thoughts to share for whatever theyâre worth.
You will fail sometimes. But, restarting is the most important part of the journey. (And that isn't just some bullshit people say.)
My life has been a long series of failed attempts to get healthy. When I was in elementary school and started to get fat I wanted to try dance, but my family mocked me until I gave that idea up. I tried track in middle school, but didnât have many friends on the team and didnât think I was good enough, so I quit. By high school I cycled through field hockey within a couple weeks, giving up because I wasnât fast enough, and then tennis for a few weeks until that too fizzled away. I did dance for three years, only because it was a club that never made cuts.Â
I have never been brave enough to stick with anything. I failed before I started because my fear of failing made me not want to bother trying. I have felt too far gone to save, too incapable to try, and too embarrassed to be seen making an effort. But recently something has clicked. I donât care about using new machines at the gym because I truly, for the first time ever, donât give a shit what anyone nearby is thinking about me. I will do terribly formed yoga poses proudly in public because I know it brings me closer to conquering years of poor health habits and even more years of social anxiety and poor self-image. Most powerfully, and also an entirely unfamiliar sense is that Iâve realized that my body isnât broken or useless. It is capable of all the same things that other bodies can do, I just have to choose to do them. I donât care what the scale or size says, I care if I can walk long distances or swim or walk up a reasonable number of stairs without gasping. Â
Life has gotten in the way a little bit lately. Iâve spent some days feeling very low, done with trying, and ready to accept my fate as a short, plump, invisible person in the world. But not today, and hopefully not tomorrow. All we can do is spend each day trying to see ourselves as valuable and beautiful no matter what, and worth the effort to be healthy and happy in our skin, and use that knowledge as motivation to push forward.
You are an incredible person, capable of incredible things. Get inspired!

The summer is an awesome time to workout INSIDE too. Itâs not busy, and you wonât feel like youâre about to die in a desert. Check out the gym or fit in a mid-day workout at home. Stay tuned for some great new workout ideas from your newly reinspired Fitbitchez, Kay and Bay. -B
An important reminder for everyone working through fitness challenges.
Push through the sweat!
Every day is a new chance. Today I feel like I gained ten pounds in cookie weight, but tomorrow will be different. If youâve fallen out of healthy eating or never started it is just never too late. Youâll feel the effects so quickly in your energy. Good luck!

Alright fitbitchez, Kay here. You already know my BFF Bay as she has been picking up alllll of the slack on this blog so far, but Iâm ready to play! I guess some of my hesitance has been related to the fact that I lost 60 lbs in 2015 and despite my (kinda) best efforts, I havenât been able to drop an ounce in 2016. So first off, Iâd like to remind everyone on the journey to fitness that itâs ok if things donât go exactly how you want them to. I still plan on losing another 40lbs, and that dream isnât going anywhere! It might not happen this year, but the only way it is going to happen is to not give up, right?! Right. This past month it has been very hard to not just say fuck this, I donât care, Iâll never get there anyway. In fact there have been days where I do say that, and then I console my grumpy self by binge eating and trying to convince my boyfriend that he actually doesnât love me, because it would be impossible to love me, because Iâm a loser and a failure. Yup, it works about as well as youâd expect. Not at all. So Iâve learned a few things this month Iâd like to share. They might be things that youâve heard before, and nothing works for everyone, but I hope that some of what we have to say on this blog will ring in your head when you need to remember it the most. You arenât alone. Us fitbitchez gotta have each otherâs backs! A coupla things to remember this week:
1. If youâve been feeling great mentally and physically, seeing changes in your body, and you all around feel like a bouncy ball of health and happiness, why do you need to know what the scale says? Why does it matter!? Your body is clearly rewarding you for the good choices youâve been making. Donât knock yourself down a peg by risking not liking the number on the scale. If youâre like me, one of two things will happen when you see your weight. Youâre either going to be disappointed and you will take on the attitude of âwhy the fuck do I even bother?â And have a good binge about it. Or youâll be super excited to see a new lower number and reward yourself for being good on your diet by binge eating. (As you can see I struggle with binge eating disorder and will get into that in a separate post.) Iâve had a scale tell me 5lbs difference in my weight within only an hour. So stop letting your scale ruin your day. If you have to weigh yourself, I recommend sticking to once a month.
2. The first week or two of trying to be good on your diet and exercise routine can feel impossible. I literally had to have a disclaimer for my actions every day for the first week to reassure my boyfriend that I wasnât going to be this crazy forever. But now that Iâve made some progress, there are far more days where I gush about how happy I feel than there are days where I want to burn something down. So a couple weeks of crazy Kayla was more than worth it for a summer of happy, active Kayla.
3. GET REAL. This has been one of my rules since I first started losing weight about a year ago. Basically, I believe that all of us know what we are doing wrong when we fall short of reaching our goals, so get real with yourself! Are you having three diet cheat days a week instead of one, like me? Ya, thatâs not gonna work. Letâs both get real about it together :) Are you only doing the easiest machines at the gym and putting them at settings that are too low for you because you hate to get sweaty? C'mon bitch, get real. Youâre gonna have to sweat for this one. Complaining about how hard it is to lost weight isnât going to get you anywhere. Looking at your faults and improving upon them will! Stop convincing yourself that you canât and get real, because we know that you can!
Keep up the good work Fitbitchez! Love, Kay
(Side note: this is the only set of before and after pics of me so far and Iâm just seeing them for the first time today. At the same time as I feel like it doesnât look like a whole 60 lbs lost, I look at things like my wrists and hands and see such a huge difference! I highly recommend taking before pics!)
Gym Time!
If it's not even noon and you're elbow deep in chocolate chip cookies, and you get a text asking if you're up to go to the gym it's time to say yes! We recommend trying to get up to at least 20 minutes or two miles if you're just starting out on an elliptical. We started with ten and worked up to twenty with higher intensity.Â
And, listening to some inspiring music is always a great choice. Today I wasn't in the mood for BeyoncÊ (for once), so I went with Mewithoutyou and contemplated my life purpose for a while. Spacing out to good music is a great distraction, or watch some trashy TV!
