Future of the Disney Fairies brand
With the rumors of Disney possibly reviving their Disney Fairies brand, I have to wonder what exactly they're planning. More novels? A continuation of the Tales of Pixie Hollow book series? An animated TV show? More movies?!
If Disney were to make more Tinker Bell movies-- and I really hope they do-- I'd like them to adapt Tinker Bell: An Enchanter's Tale by Jen Calonita. Tinkerbell meeting Peter Pan is a movie that I and many other Disney Fairies fans have wanted for years. Shanon Morrill, writer and director of the cancelled Tinkerbell movie Tinkerbell and the Ring of Belief, initially intended for the first Tinker Bell movie to tell the story of how the titular fairy met Peter.
Tinkerbell and the Ring of Belief was never released due to a creative dispute between Morrill and John Lasseter who didn't like the idea of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys being animated in CGI (but it was okay for Tinkerbell to be animated in CGI?! Make it make sense, dude). It was instead quickly replaced by Tinker Bell (2008), the first (published) Tinker Bell movie that we know today. I highly recommend watching Sarah Serif's YouTube video on this topic to learn more:
Serif has also made a video reviewing The Bleakwatch Chronicles: Tinker Bell and the Lost City (which I think should have been titled Tinker Bell and the Hidden City so as not to confuse it with Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure (2009), but who am I to judge) by Zack Loran Clark, which appears to have been heavily inspired by another cancelled Tinkerbell movie titled Tinker Academy. The Bleakwatch Chronicles is on track to get a second book, and paired with the recent release of An Enchanter's Tale by Jen Calonita and Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft, Disney appears to be putting more effort into the Fairies brand than they have in years. Sarah Serif speculates on where the Disney Fairies brand could be headed. Here is a link to that video as well:
This second video concludes with Serif posing the idea of a Disney Fairies animated TV show. I would be on board with that-- as long as they didn't bring their new deal with AI into it (like, please Disney, the fairies do not deserve to be treated that way)-- but more than anything, I want a Tinker Bell movie about how she met Peter Pan.
2 years in this evil fandom now
Started this at 15 and finished it at 17, thank you to @zigazone , @firadessa and @darlenchanted for being the reason I didn’t give up on them

What’s also neat to study with screencaps of disney movies is how they use color in their lines. They don’t just pick any colors!
For example, check out Jasmine and Mulan. Both of them have black hair, but we get subtle differences between them.
Mulan, for example, has hair made with dark brown lines. We get the idea that her hair is probably a very deep, deep shade of brown, or that as light filters through her hair, we’re seeing that brown subsurface scattering.
Jasmine, meanwhile, has hair that is so deep black we sometimes see it as blue. This is black hair with cool undertones, as opposed to Mulan’s hair with warm undertones. Which in pure color speak is impossible, but is something that happens with hair, since hair is mildly translucent and reflective.
You can even compare that further with Esmeralda, who has grey lines that give the illusion of neutral undertones.
They can also use color to give characters that fantasy feel or the feel of completely unnatural hair. Princess Aurora, for example, has technically darker hair than Charlotte LaBouff. But, with the lighter outlines? Aurora’s hair looks absolutely fairytale golden, while Lottie’s looks like a more natural flaxen blonde.
How disney uses color isn’t the be-all end-all, but they can give you some really neat ideas for showing a lot of information in a condensed drawing.
I just wanted to share this made by me with mematic, because it really makes me laugh😂

«Queen Clarion's Pixie Dust» (Its official name)
One of the designated "Deleted Scenes" on the Blu-Ray Disc of Tinker Bell 1.
Recorded by me at 1080p 24Hz, stereo PCM. Bitrate at 6Mb/s, OBS's sound mix volume at -2.5 dB.
And trust me: There's more to come. Believing in a PlayStation 3 Super Slim is just the beginning.
(I had accidentially set the audio bitrate in OBS to 64Kb/s instead of 320Kb/s, but you're not missing out on all that much in that regard given the nearly non-existent voice lines or SFX.)

Jumpin Jellyfish is one of the last reminants of the og california adventure park and I make sure to go on it everytime I go 🐠
Disney really didn't need to give Dana more reasons to hate them but by god they gave her some anyway
EW EW EW GET THAT STUFF AWAY FROM ME
Splash is one of the many reasons why Ariel is ginger instead of blonde like in the fairytale. Disney didn't want the two films to be compared since Splash was a more adult film released under their new company Touchstone Pictures.
But making Ariel ginger paid off. Because in 1989 many little girls, teens, and adults that are ginger got to see a princess in theaters, and in the disney parks, that was ginger too 🐠

I’ve been quiet on tumblr for years, but I wanted to share that my father died in November of a severely aggressive stage , for those of you who still follow me here. He was my biggest cheerleader for my art, supporting me in all of my endeavors, and I’m heartbroken that he’s gone in my early 30s.
I want to share the gofundme that I made to raise money for my mother, as I’m only one person and on hiatus from work until March 🥲 any shares or donations of any size would mean the world, so thank you so much for reading, for the support over the years. Thank you thank you.
