This is so so late, and I’m so sorry! But yes, just be personable and try to be as much of yourself as you can! Also, be prepared to think deeply about why you have done the activities or studied the classes you have in high school so you have more meaningful answers about how you lead others or take initiative. Williams College is located in a beautiful rural area right by the mountains. The Tyng scholarship was an amazing opportunity, and I am so grateful to have received the offer. However, I chose Harvard because of some big reasons. I really could not see myself loving a liberal arts college because it’s so small. My personality really values change and constantly meeting new people, and, for me, I would have felt too restricted with such a small college population. I love that Harvard has so many different types of people and there’s always someone new to meet. Having a lot of people too also means there’s a lot of different student organizations. I also wanted to be in a city and not in a rural area! HOWEVER, Williams is absolutely beautiful, and for those who want the concentrated attention and traditional feel of a liberal arts college, it’s absolutely perfect and the best one you could choose imho :)

I took APs since my sophomore year. I took 2 my sophomore year, 6 my junior year, and 8 my senior year. For some reason, at my high school, you were allowed to take a lot of APs and there were a lot of competitive people, so we all tried to fit as many APs as we could. It’s definitely not the norm around the U.S.

It's hard to say what Common Core's effect will be on standardized tests for college entrance. The debate on how effective it will be for American education is very intense, and there are various reasons for both sides.
