jet as a minor god of vengeance and freedom that katara mistook for another justice deity, he dies in (insert whatever the ba sing se shenanigans are in this au) where he becomes the small sparks of bitter hope under your skin?

zuko having small shrines in out-of-the-way spots for people to give small offerings when they've lost something, because he's like the patron saint of lost things, he found his honor so yeah he can find your third sock?

iroh being a minor fortune god and being every food service worker's best friend because yeah that offering you made two weeks ago is gonna come in clutch when you luckily (wink wink) remember you started steeping the tea for table four half an hour ago and it comes out the best damn tea you've ever served?

I haven't thought much about Jet yet so this is giving me IDEASSSS!!! Jet having a domain similar to Katara's and that being why she trusts him so implicitly... It's making me think about the forest the Freedom Fighters were in (the orange and red leaves) and man you know he would also totally fit as the god of Fall. Also, with Jet as a god of vengeance... I can imagine some kind of myth where a wild animal killed one of the Freedom Fighters (whatever they are in this au-- followers of Jet maybe?), and Jet went and killed that animal to settle the score. But he only killed it for revenge and nothing else, leaving its body to rot. So Sokka absolutely despises Jet for disrespecting an animal that way.

I already have a pretty solid idea for Zuko and Iroh but. I mean come on, Aang is the god for three domains I can give a bit more to Zuko and Iroh (I love your domain/patron ideas wayyy too much to just lose them omg)

Info! Had a LOT of fun combining Air Nomad outfit elements with a more typical "travel" outfit. Super warm colour palettes of course! Aang is the god of balance, travelers, and hospitality. He's a bit of a free spirit and a lot of the more serious gods find him a bit annoying (Sokka.) People often pray to Aang when they have to go on long journeys, or invoke his name when they need to stop to rest. It's a well-known fact that the god of travelers has a habit of wandering around incognito-- he just does it because he likes interacting with people without being recognized. In doing so, however, he accidentally started to enforce his hospitality domain, as mortals became terrified of accidentally offending him if he were to show up at their door. He loves to follow Sokka around on hunts (he gets to explore dangerous areas)-- Sokka hates when Aang follows him because he almost always ends up losing his catch. Katara and Aang's Justice and Balance domains mean that they often are called upon together by mortals. Katara, to enact a fitting punishment upon perpetrators. And Aang, to provide reparations to victims. It's found to be very fitting that they ended up becoming a couple.

I come to your inbox to humbly present an idea for the AU:

Yue who originally was human but ascended to become a Northern Goddess of the Moon. And then, centuries down the line, something catalyzes her second ascension to become the moon just as Kya became the starry sky and Gyatso became the wind.

(Storytellers spread rumors that when you see a wolf howl under the light of the full moon, it is the God of the Hunt welcoming the cyclical return of his former lover.)

No pressure to accept! Or if you already thought of this ahead of me, I apologize! I occasionally find myself jumping the gun (^o^;)7

I know I've literally got another au in the works already but i don't care man I love mythology and now they're gods >:)))))

Some info!

Katara and Sokka's face markings are based on the Painted Lady and Warrior makeup (respectively)-- on top of giving Sokka some winged eyeliner to resemble a wolf's markings (as the master of wolves), and a semi-circle on Katara's forehead as a symbol of equality (as the goddess of justice).

Gods don't technically "die" in this AU-- it doesn't happen often, but when it does, they usually become one with their domain. When Gyatso died, as the god of the wind, he turned into the wind and could only communicate through wind chimes (small signs/yes/no-- he can't communicate complex thoughts).

When Kya died, she turned into the starry sky. Hakoda, grieving his wife, would often study her form in the sky and learned to use the patterns of her stars to navigate, which made him become god of navigators.

When Kya died, people started praying to Sokka and Katara for matters of family and home-- it's not actually their domain, but they gratefully accept the duties that come with taking over for their mother.

Katara's necklace has sharp points in this to relate to her mother's star domain.

Katara's cloak is a sealskin (as the matron of sealife)

Yes, Sokka's leg is still hurt in this (still trying to figure out the story behind that, but I love when characters get permanent injuries in media and I'm KEEPING IT) he has a cane-- doesn't always need to use it but he has it!

Sokka's cloak is a polar bear dog's hide (as the god of hunting)

They're a little unhinged but it's ok

So a clearer timeline for this au (bc I can't stop thinking about them):

Sokka started joining the Southern Water Tribe to trade with Kyoshi village when he was around 6 years old (originally because Kya had her arms very full with two hyperactive children so Hakoda decided to take Sokka on an "educational field trip" instead of just leaving his wife and mom to deal with the kids.)

He and Suki did NOT get along but Hakoda did notice that Sokka seemed to really enjoy learning about Kyoshi's very different culture so it became a thing-- twice a year, Sokka would join the traders up to Kyoshi

Katara started joining those trips when she turned 6, but after Kya's death, Hakoda decided that it wasn't safe to risk Katara's safety by bringing her to foreign lands, even if Kyoshi village likely weren't the ones to inform the Fire Nation that there was still a waterbender in the Southern Tribe

Suki and Sokka start getting along when he's 8 and she's 9-- Suki starts training to become a Kyoshi Warrior and Sokka ends up swallowing his pride and asking her to teach him some moves.

They get especially close after Kya's death-- Suki is the only one Sokka actually opens up to about his grief.

Sokka stops visiting Kyoshi village after his 14th birthday, when the Southern Water Tribe's warriors leave with all of the ships. He doesn't get to tell her why he never came back.

She 100% punches Sokka in the face when he comes back, aged 16, hauling the Avatar with him. Then they hug :)

If they met as kids...

Just an idea where the South Pole would maybe engage in trade with Kyoshi Island (since they're the closest civilization) and sometimes Sokka would join the adults :)

They're like. 9-10 in this idk

I've been studying the nations' clothing styles! I can tell that I started really getting a feel for the silhouettes and accessories once i started drawing Katara :)
