hi, i'm a junior now.

it’s a bit more difficult ngl because many jobs on campus are allocated for work study students. There are still jobs on campus that hire, but you will just have to ask around and apply to tons of places! Also look into working in the Vil at a coffee shop or a store! If you want something more educational, I know many research labs on campus and MIT UROPS pay as well. 

HIGHLY RECOMMEND directly emailing people who work in Alumnae, public relations, etc. because they are usually looking for student workers.Sometimes it’s pretty difficult to get a job through applying via applications bc so many people apply @ the beginning of the semester. Also I know the dining hall hires a lot of students at the beginning of the semester/throughout the year. 

But i have previous posts on this, but a simple guideline that has SAVED me for the last three years is if you never wear it, don’t bring it. When you are debating whether or not you should bring an outfit, and the first thing that pops up is, “I’ll find a way to make it work,” DON’T BRING IT. You won’t wear it, I promise. Also don’t pack like 5 similar pieces of clothing, bc no one will know/care that you are wearing the exact same shirt endless times throughout the semester. It’s a waste of space. Highly recommend bringing versatile basics while packing, and a few statement pieces!

A People’s History of the United States: If you are from the United States, I think it’s super important to read this book. Before you read this book, I definitely recommend doing some research about the book (bc it’s highly controversial). This book is important to read because it shows how white-washed/inaccurate our school history textbooks are. This book brings up the minorities and the oppression that took place in our nation’s past. Of course, this book is not perfect, but it does open eyes about the sad inaccuracy/bias of how history is taught in American schools. & Guns, Germs and Steel: It doesn’t exactly fall into the history category because it is pretty trans-disciplinary, but if you have the patience to start reading this dense book, read it. It might be pretty heavy material esp. if you are a sophomore in high school, but it’s a good account to how certain civilizations rose to existence. (It’s a bit more complicated than that but read the Amazon bio for more info)
