“And here I had hoped the rumors were lies,” Loki said, rolling his eyes. “Well, it’s good to see one us is changing their drinking habits.” 

“Oh, is that so?” Thor smiled, looking to the other. “I don’t believe I’ve changed whatsoever, is it you, perhaps?”

“I highly doubt that,” Loki replied, his eyes narrowing slightly at Thor’s smile. “I have seen many changes in you. I am not the one changing.” 

“What changes do you see, brother?” He asked, raising his eyebrow. “No longer do I thirst for war, that is true, but still...”

“Oh, is that so?” Thor smiled, looking to the other. “I don’t believe I’ve changed whatsoever, is it you, perhaps?”

“Perhaps it is he who turns the blind eye to me, Loki” Thor chuckled at the joke. “But when all is done, Father is not…. in the best of places at the moment” He frowned. “But then… Perhaps he is in the best place, where his eye is blind to me being on Midgard for as long as I have been” He spoke quietly. 

“Asgard will forever be my home -and yours, Loki, but I felt the need to.. what is the word… vacation? Yes, that seems appropriate. I have come on vacation to get away from Asgard for a while, and while my hands cheer for more war and battle, my heart and mind breathe for peace” He replied, ignoring the last remark.

“Perhaps it is he who turns the blind eye to me, Loki” Thor chuckled at the joke. “But when all is done, Father is not.... in the best of places at the moment” He frowned. “But then... Perhaps he is in the best place, where his eye is blind to me being on Midgard for as long as I have been” He spoke quietly. 

“For others or for yourself?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Mostly for me. Though, more importantly, for you.” Loki grins at him.

“Oh, is that so?”

“I tend to try and look my best for you. To look…pleasing in your eyes.” He replies to him.

“Haven’t I told you already that that is not hard to do?”

“I think you’ve told me several times.” Loki grins before kissing his cheek.

“Yes, several thousand, I believe!” He smiled, kissing the other’s cheek in return.

“For others or for yourself?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Mostly for me. Though, more importantly, for you.” Loki grins at him.

“Oh, is that so?”

“I tend to try and look my best for you. To look…pleasing in your eyes.” He replies to him.

“Haven’t I told you already that that is not hard to do?”

“Oh yes, how could I have forgotten?” He grinned. “You look fine as is, brother, no need to make yourself look better”

Loki sneaks a small peck of a kiss to Thor’s check. “But I want to. I like to look good for others.”

“For others or for yourself?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Mostly for me. Though, more importantly, for you.” Loki grins at him.

“Oh, is that so?”

“’Tis Midgard, Loki, where else would I be? As its protector, I am obligated to come down and protect it from the evils it faces” He replied simply. It was strange to see his brother here, but at least he wasn’t causing mischief… or was he?

“Yes, you have said as much. But you used to belong to Asgard as well. Has it ceased to be your home?” Loki’s tone was not derisive, but there was a hint of earnestness in his eyes that bid Thor not to be lulled into a false assumption that Asgard was safe from all that might threaten it. “Do you trust Odin’s reign so fully?”

The thunderer stopped, looking at the other before him. “Loki” Was all he said, his mind telling him it was just an illusion; yet his eyes and heart telling him he was there before him. “I thought you were elsewhere”
