@inslowmotions for jenny !
chrissy takes a long, slow breath, finally feeling a little more settled now that she’s tucked away safely in jenny’s room. it’s nothing against the carlsons–– in fact, chrissy loves them probably more than her own parents. but their care for her always awakes a strange sense of discomfort–– the prickly feeling that she’s inconveniencing them no matter how they tell her she isn’t–– and the deeper knowledge that this isn’t their job, that she shouldn’t have to run off from home to find a safe place to land. it’s easier when it’s just her and jenny; the hard things become easier to talk about, and if she can’t talk about them, she doesn’t have to. “thanks,” she says, voice small, “for letting me stay over.” she sits atop her friend’s bed, legs pulled up to her chest. the panic is slowly draining out of her, making room for what is mostly exhaustion, but also a little sense of peace.

“ you know there’s nothing i wouldn’t do for you, right? “
those words alone are enough to make chrissy well up. “ i know col, ” she says softly, reaching for his hands. “ and i would do anything for you. ” anything, she supposes, except tell him about the visions that have been plaguing her. colin has enough to worry about. he has to survive their home too, even if his hurdles look a little different than hers. every step either of them takes is across a floor laid with traps and pitfalls–– the last thing chrissy wants is for her brother to know that she’s cracking under the strain. that only adds more to his plate, which is already too full for someone so young. “ but really, i’m okay. ”
i wanna be on here more bc i miss my baby!!!
but also 2 things:
1) chr.is.sy is decent at math but doesnt really like it
2) i thought about chrissy reading im gla.d my m.om died and got Very emotional so uhhh thats a thing that lives in my head now
i know im not on here very often but i may as well make my announcement that i’ll probably be kind of quiet bc i just tested positive for c.ov.id this morning lmao

@banisheddie gets a plotted thing!
chrissy doesn’t remember getting up and going into the living room of the munsons’ trailer. she’d fallen asleep curled up against eddie’s side, everything right with the world, if only for a moment. after all they’d been through, there was still adversity to be faced on the other side–– but with him, there can be peace. sometimes, for a moment, everything can be okay. she doesn’t realize that anything is wrong until she looks down and sees her cheer uniform. there’s no way she would have gone to bed in that. in fact, she remembers the way one of eddie’s black sabbath t-shirts had swam on her when she put it on, how it smelled like him even though it was clean. chrissy realizes, then, that she feels him gone–– a strange certainty that she’s alone in the trailer.
but she isn’t. she hears the clock strike, and cold fear shocks through her. she has been here before. chrissy remembers looking out the window, the way the night sky had looked orange, the trailer park deserted. she remembers shutting the curtains with all her strength like that would be enough to keep the monster out. she needs eddie, needs the kindest face she’s seen all year, needs the person who had spoken to her for about ten minutes and somehow understood her better than she ever could have hoped for. her feet move without her, jogging her body to his bedroom door where she knows she won’t find him. instead she sees her mother, eyes clouded over white, voice a terrible rasp telling her how beautiful she’ll look in her uniform.
dread sinks in heavy when chrissy slams the door and finds herself at home, the telltale jiggling of her doorknob that warns: she’s not happy with you anymore. now she is angry. chrissy runs–– it’s what she always does when she can’t hide any longer–– down to her father in the living room, but it’s no use. it never has been. he turns to her, eyes and mouth sewn gruesomely shut, screaming without a voice, blind to her peril. every horror of her real life is amplified by the thousands here, right down the doors boarded up, keeping her trapped, destined to die in a house that has never been a home.
chrissy experiences the terror double–– as it was the first time: fresh, searing, her heartbeat in her throat–– and as it is now: the miserable sense that she will never escape, that she is doomed to fight uselessly against this cycle that destroys without end.
she’s turned away from eddie in her sleep. chrissy begins to whimper and shift as she crashes her body against the barricaded door, but it’s pointless. the creature slogs through the house, wet, heavy footfalls roaring in her ears. she looks into that awful face again, fleshy, inhuman. chrissy dreams the fear, the bone-deep fright of death breathing down her neck–– but for a moment, she dreams the relief, too. she dreams the lie:
it is time for your suffering to end.
and then the claws sink into her face, gnarled and cruel. her feet begin to lift off the ground and she is in the living room of the trailer again, watching eddie float away below her, her voice silent, her body unmoving as she screams his name, thrashes against paralysis to reach for him. she feels a delirious pain as her bones break, her jaw snaps out of place, the pressure in her eyes like her head will burst––
and then she’s waking, confused, sweating, panting, tangled in eddie’s bedsheets. her hands shake, and her mouth is dry, and she feels too weak to turn over, afraid that the nightmare isn’t over and this is just a new, undiscovered chapter–– that the last few weeks have been a beautiful dream, and she’s back where she had been all that time, stuck in the creature’s mind, bound up in that column of oozing vines, body broken and mind soon to follow. but she hopes against hope and calls to him again, the sound of her own voice timid and broken.
“...eddie?”
just lost a like four paragraph starter that i was SO proud of UGH
@quarrytm asked: ❝ you think because you demonstrate some talent that you’re somehow immune to the rules? ❞ - travis.
chrissy just needs to take a walk. that’s what she keeps telling herself. if she can just get away from hackett’s quarry for a minute, out into the night air away from the woods, away from the place she first saw the old woman, she’ll be fine. in clear, open space, there won’t be any shadowy figures or strange sounds to fill her mind, to make her afraid to sleep, to taunt her with their slippery nature–– always edging just out of her sight, just out of earshot, so that she never knows if she’s losing her mind or not. so when the beam of a flashlight warms the back of her neck and an unfamiliar voice rings out, she panics. her eyes go wide, the breath snatched from her chest. when the sheriff asks her what she’s doing out here, she hurriedly explains that she’d spoken to mr. hackett about morning runs, that she’s going to college on a cheer scholarship and she wants to make sure she stays in fighting shape. it’s not entirely a lie–– in fact, it’s technically not a lie at all. chris hackett had indeed reluctantly given her permission to go out on morning runs... that just wasn’t why she was out here. and mr. hackett certainly hadn’t okay-ed a 4am start time.
the sheriff, however, isn’t buying it. his words make her freeze up, run cold all over her body. his voice, for a moment, seems to morph into her mother’s. angry, unforgiving, repulsed. she feels about two feet smaller when she opens her mouth to answer, hot tears springing to the corners of her eyes. ‘ no, ’ she says, desperate to fight off the tremor in her voice, ‘ no sir. i didn’t mean to... my co-counselor is with the cabin, and... ’ her chest is tight, and staving off panic feels less and less likely by the second. ‘ i just... i couldn’t sleep and–– ’ chrissy shakes her head, tears streaming silent down her face. she inclines her head, can’t look at him. ‘ i’m sorry, sir. i... i won’t do it again. ’
okay VERY last minute heads up but im gonna be afk-ish starting tomorrow (aug 8th - aug 11th) bc i’m going on a trip! i was gonna bring my laptop but it’s just heavy and pointless tbh bc i’m gonna be doing stuff w/ friends!
hmu on disco and look for some queued replies that i’m hoping to do tonight!

@quarrytm said: ❝ look, i’m just trying to turn that frown upside down. ❞ - dylan.
chrissy laughs wetly, tears still glistening on her cheeks. ‘ you’re doing a good job, ’ she offers, but the truthfulness of the statement falls a little flat. this makes her laugh again, the sound still a little bit like a sob, though much heartier. mascara leaves grainy black streaks on the back of her hand when she wipes her eyes and she offers dylan a weak smile. ‘ really, i’m fine though. thank you for coming to check on me, it just–– ’ she shakes her head, waves her hand. ‘ weird night. ’ that’s not entirely true, but chrissy doesn’t want to make him sit here with her while she recovers from her very embarrassing freak out.
metalcursed:
sightings of the freak at school events were rare but not unheard of. it wasn’t like hellfire participated exactly, but being EXCLUDED was simply not to be stood for either. it gave eddie a sort of thrill to see the light leave the little sheeps’ eyes when they saw him darken their otherwise happy fanfare. not that he showed up to homecoming solely to ruin it for everyone else, but it was a nice bonus to say the least. the guys had all went their separate ways, taking in the various options the various booths and activities offered. eddie was sort of wandering, unsure where he wanted to go next. he’d had his cotton candy and balloon, now he was getting the feeling that it was time to pack it up and go on home. that was until chrissy flagged him down. of course she was hosting the kissing booth, and he had to fight to roll his eyes at the torture of a presented opportunity. he’d only been in love with her since middle school. no big deal. ed saluted with a half wave and jogged lazily over, not stopping at the neatly crafted box the squad had commissioned from shop class, no doubt. he kicked his legs up over the ledge and sat criss-crossed on top of the framed booth she perched in. chin under his folded knuckles, he looked wickedly angellic and nonchalant. ”hi, fancy seeing you here.“ it was his best attempt at being cool. he knocked one hand to the wooden frame and returned to his relaxed position in front of her. "they got you locked up good and tight in here, huh? need to bust out?” his hands fell once again as if to present himself as the perfect escape route. “not to brag or nothing, but i’m the man for the job.”
chrissy just doesn’t care anymore that you’re ‘not supposed’ to talk to eddie munson. sure, she may have had her ideas about him when they’d had their run-in in the woods, but she’d turned out to be so, so wrong, and why shouldn’t that be a good thing? sure, maybe the chains and the leather and the scary t-shirt designs are a little intimidating, but if the rest of the hellfire club is as nice as eddie–– and chrissy is more than willing to bet that they are–– then hawkins owes them all a big apology. anyway, she’s excited to see him. it’s nice to have a new friend, especially eddie. they have that little bit of history that makes a new thing feel comfortable, FAMILIAR even when they don’t know each other all that well. chrissy won’t acknowledge the little flutter in her stomach she feels when she sees him–– that’s something for another day. she squeals, delighted and shocked as he lopes up onto the booth’s counter, barely concealing her giggles with a hand over her mouth. “oh my gosh,” she mumbles in an attempt to gather herself before fixing him with a faux-stern look–– the effect is ruined by her smile. “no,” she says, prim but friendly, “as a matter of fact, this was my idea. well. kind of. we voted.” chrissy can’t help it; she just gets bubbly around him. it feels so easy to drop the facade around eddie’s boisterousness, any scandalous reality that she might let slip would be so easily missed in his theatrics. not to mention that eddie was just about one of the only people not on the cheer squad to witness her in the middle of a panic attack and actually... help. “oh, you’re gonna jail break me from my charity booth?” she teases, “shame on you!”
@quarrytm said: ❝ i can only help you if you’re truthful. if you open up to me. ❞ - chris.
dread billows up into her, filling her lungs, her head, clouding her vision. but things keep getting worse. every single night, chrissy has nightmares about the hag of hackett’s quarry, or lies awake, hearing noises she swears can’t be real, that sound like animals she’s never heard of and could never dream up. she has to tell someone about it, and it really ought to be chris. ‘ i... ’ chrissy breathes deep, her voice wavering already. ‘ mr. hackett, i’m scared i’m going crazy. ’ her voice is little more than a hoarse whisper, her skirt clutched in bunches in her lap. ‘ i’ve been... seeing things. hearing things. an old woman... and these... these animals... ’ wide blue eyes search his face for some kind of salvation. ‘ i thought it would go away, or that i would... handle it, or something, but... ’ she shakes her head, helpless. ‘ i don't know what to do. ’
@quarrytm asked: ❝ are you stalking me or something? ❞ - ryan.
chrissy’s eyes widen and her ponytail swishes as she shakes her head. ‘ no, no, i swear! i just, i wanted to ask you a favor and i couldn’t find you, so i asked dylan and he said you might be out here, so... ’ a griamce. ‘ i guess that is kind of stalker-y. ’ as much as chrissy is burning from embarrassment, she pushes through–– if for no other reason than she doesn’t wanna disappoint her campers. ‘ kaitlyn and i promised we’d take the girls out to each lunch on the lake, but i was hoping you could give me some canoe pointers? i’m, like... kind of totally lost. ’
doing my best to beat the sleepyhead allegationzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

@banisheddie | contd. from (x)
chrissy is nestled happily away into a corner of eddie’s room, her knees tucked up to her chest as a makeshift desk for her diary. she’s running through the events of the last couple of days, sometimes pausing her work to doodle in the margins or gaze, doe-eyed, at eddie who sits on his bed, fiddling dutifully with his guitar as he works on a new song. but she can see him begin to drift from focused to frustrated. it doesn’t make her upset; chrissy only ever wants the best for eddie, but she knows that making things–– anything from a rock song to a cheer routine–– can be frustrating.
her book snaps gently shut around her pen, & she discards it on the floor as soon as eddie puts his guitar away. things are better now that they have each other, but chrissy’s reappearance was no magic spell. people still hate eddie, still blame him for a crime he didn’t commit, a crime for which the real perpetrator will probably never pay, all evidence of it reduced to a dark cloud, phantom pains, nightmares that they both have to suffer through.
she climbs onto the bed, feeling more at home here than she ever has in the house where she grew up. her touch is gentle when she pulls eddie’s hands away from his face, the weariness in his expression making her heart sink. she presses a kiss between his eyebrows, letting her own eyes shut in relief when eddie relaxes into her touch. chrissy tilts her head, unable to stop a pout from forming on her lips. ❝ baby, ❞ she murmurs, concern glinting in her eyes. delicate fingers lift to play with his hair, and when he pulls her close, chrissy moves easily into the embrace. she cradles one arm beneath his head, the other curling protectively around him, mouth pressed into the crown of his head. chrissy weaves her fingers gently into the hair at the nape of eddie’s neck. ❝ you wanna talk about it, angel? ❞
