raven preferred the late night hours. they didn’t get many customers, and it was when she was naturally up anyway. sure, the people who did show up were typically the real weirdos, but her attitude usually kept them from doing anything too ridiculous. it was a slow shift, and she sat by the register, on of the books they sold propped open in front of her as she focused more on reading than her actual job when she heard the bell ring. she was surprised by the almost tentative voice, not their typical customer then. “no, the open sign is up because we were hoping someone would come in and rob us.” raven replied sarcastically, almost rolling her eyes. she couldn’t really see the girl, not from her distance with the low lighting the shop always had. still, she figured if she was here to shop she’d walk in further eventually. “were you expecting a crowd at this hour?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
heh. the person, as well as their voice, shouldn’t have intimidated her as much as it did, but that didn’t stop her palms from becoming clammy. she abruptly wiped her freshly polished hands on her coat, cleared her throat, and straightened her posture as she stepped further into the shop. her newfound self-assurance made it simple to forgo the odd feeling she experienced as she locked eyes with the staff member ( she labeled it as human consternation ). you’ve got this, kori. they must be looking for you, too. the thought eased her mind only somewhat, she just hoped her titans were safe. “ i’m looking for something. ” she smiled nonchalantly, disregarding the stranger’s remark with ease. such wit she was accustomed to. “ you can jest about it if you please, but is there really such a thing as a potion or spell to find someone’s location? ”
