Not to harsh on your squee, but by making a physical copy available for purchase, you’ll cross the legal gray area of fandom into the illegal area of making money off of Nintendo and Intelligent System’s copyrighted work. Derivative work from that copyright, such as fan art, cannot be legally sold, unless you’re the holder of said copyright. (…In which it wouldn’t be considered fan art, rather, official art.*) This is basic international copyright law, so holds true for all countries. Being the artist of said work means little because it was drawn with full knowledge of, and direct inspiration from, the copyrighted material. I assume you and the fan artists partaking don’t own Nintendo, Fire Emblem, or Intelligent Systems, so unless you’re giving it away for free or pooling your own money into printing it without expecting any monetary compensation in return, it’s a problem. This is true whether you, the hosts of this blog making the magazine, or the artists partaking, make money off of the selling of this material. One way to circumvent this would be to create a ‘donate if you like this or wish to support us’ link, that’s entirely optional for the viewer and not directly connected to the material. I like FE as much as the next person, and I’d rather not see such a great expression of love for a series get shut down.

* = Take the DLC Awakening art, for example. It was drawn by artists whom were hired by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo to re-imagine pre-existing characters from past games. Nintendo and IS still own those characters and their likenesses.
