This is a zine about flowers, so it's only fitting that I draw the Maiden of Flowers for it! Ah, I love Sumia so much 🥹💖💕 The flowers I chose for her were marigolds, chamomiles, and pink roses. I'm sure that once you read their meanings, you would understand why I think they suit Sumia 💐

Marigolds

The marigold’s bright flowers and hardy growth habits make it a symbol of resilience. Its yellow and orange blooms provide light in even the darkest of times and remind us to hold onto hope. That’s why you may see these flowers present at funerals and during holidays like Dios de los Muertos. The plant’s ability to bloom for multiple months (even in adverse conditions) explains why resilience is a marigold flower’s meaning.

Chamomile

Chamomile’s unpretentious appearance with its simple, daisy-like flowers and unassuming fragrance is associated with the virtues of simplicity and humility, like the bluebell. It encourages appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and the humility to find beauty in the ordinary.

Pink roses

As pink has long been associated with femininity, pink roses fully embrace elegance. Pink roses symbolize gentleness and love, which are some attributes of femininity. The color pink also has deep connections to love and romance, as the symbolism behind the rose as a token of love is often associated with the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite. The rose itself has been known to represent things such as beauty, perfection, and even eternity. The beauty of a rose combined with the beauty of the color pink can often represent a deeper, inner beauty that lies within us and can be seen as a reminder to appreciate the beauty in ourselves and others.
