I need to find a way to fit Ultra Magnus into my au. I don’t want him to be the cliche second in command he always is, but he can’t be the main character when I already have Ginrai for that. Unless Ginrai dies…eh. I also don’t love his character so far in skybound. Being broken by torture is horrendous and I love that for a character but why did it have to be my magnus 😭
I suppose he could be a commander of another division elsewhere on Cybertron. It’s a big planet after all. Ginrai can be the head commander in chief type deal and then I can have various divisions across the planet, each led by a leader type character. Fort Max should be one too…gotta decide how/if to incorporate Nebulons.
Decisions, decisions
Still obsessing over missing link ultra magnus btw. Don’t let the dino fanboying fool you

I have transformer comics arriving tomorrow and then a transformer on Thursday
You might say I like transformers
yeah yeah having a crush is embarassing but have you ever watched yourself develop a new category 5 character obsession in real time. agonizingly humiliating shit
being in your 30s is cool because you can buy yourself children's toys and then use your superior adult abilities and skills to play with them way better and more efficiently than any child
Holy hand grenades, this thing is incredible
Frothing at the mouth for Missing Link Ultra Magnus!!!! Holy moly he looks good. Just praying for a Powered Convoy too

Currently thinking about transformers (shocking)
As civil disturbance begins to slowly increase, the production of new transformers begins to slow. Efforts are redirected into making those few who are produced into competent combatants. It’s frowned upon by most who are aware of what’s happening, but Star Saber and Overload feel it’s important to be prepared. Better to have backup and not need it. As Galvatron begins uniting and organizing the chaos into a fighting force, the Council find they’re glad they went through with the plan: Ginrai and others have been constructed, ready to take up arms as necessary.
Magmatron’s loyalties are still not known by the rest of the Council at this point, but that quickly changes when their last meeting session is bombed. Overload gets the worst of it, though Dai Atlas and Powered Convoy also take moderate damage. Both have to be augmented to continue functioning: PC must stay in his combined form with his trailer, and Dai Atlas poses no threat to anyone unless he forms Big Powered. The capital dissolves into anarchy as Galvatron swiftly takes it over. Ginrai and his team evacuate the remaining members, but they slowly separate across the planet as the war intensifies. Eventually God Magnus and Tripredacus vanish altogether. Powered Convoy, Dai Atlas, and Star Saber all lead respective team in different regions of Cybertron, while maintaining semi-frequent contact with Ginrai to keep their efforts coordinated.
This is where things get nasty.
Missing Link Countachs have arrived! What wonderful toys. I have a G1 Sunstreaker to compare them to as well, which makes them that much more fun. Weightier than I expected and fun to throw between modes.
Sitting by the front door for the next month waiting for my damn missing links and mpg godbomber to arrive
Browning’s alt mode was a smelting laser. A rather ignominious mode, smelting lasers were used by remote areas that couldn’t afford a proper smelter but didn’t really need one anyway. They could hire a bot like Browning to transform and melt down whatever they needed in short order. This work wore down our poor Browning, however, building to less and less quiet resentment. Eventually he was triggered (no pun intended) as his narcissism developed into a sort of messiah complex. Highly dissatisfied with the current state of affairs under the Council, he starts his Revolution. Through a series of upgrades he becomes unrecognizable, his alt mode evolving from a minor laser into a terribly powerful fusion cannon. Even the Council’s weapons are barely a match for it. Gathering followers, Browning rechristens himself based on his new destiny to unite all of Cybertron under his rule, “saving” them: Galvatron. Galvatron bears much resemblance to his G1 iteration, but larger. He stands a head or two over most transformers. His more notable followers include Soundblaster (loyal and incredibly useful for spycraft), Cyclonus (the perfect second in command), Scorponok (who designed Galvatron’s current body and engineers most of their new weapons and tools, including experimental forms of combination), and Magmatron, who falls for Galvatron’s rhetoric under the promise of increasing his wealth beyond measure after the Revolution succeeds. He agrees to bankroll the Decepticons as they start expanding planet-wide.

The Council of Elders ruled over Cybertron during the Gilded Age before the war. It featured such notable names as Star Saber, Dai Atlas, God Magnus, Powered Convoy, Magmatron, Tripredacus, Overload (who becomes the subject of an experiment which transforms him into Overlord), and of course Fortress Maximus. God Magnus is the oldest of the council, with no one really knowing exactly HOW old he is (he is eventually revealed to be from the age of primes, and did in fact combine with Optimus Prime in to form God Fire Convoy for conflicts long forgotten by nearly everyone else). You’ll note many of these bots contain combiner technology, something most transformers cannot afford. The Elders are stereotypically wealthy, with each using their money in different ways, both good and bad. Cerebros/Fort Max is slow to act and was often sidelined during Council discussions where the more extemporaneous members sparred. Magmatron (having vehicular alt modes a la the BW IDW comic) is possibly the richest Elder, with a well-known rather authoritarian bent. He would always vote to bring down the hammer, swift and efficiently. This does not go unnoticed by the instigator of the Decepticon rebellion…Browning.
Alright so the preliminary thoughts that sparked this reality were focused around Ginrai. He gets kind of ignored or turned into a joke by most western fans due to being the PMOP toy. In this universe Optimus is long dead. Long, long dead, as one of the 13 Primes. Optimus himself looked more like RID 2001 Fire Convoy. Ginrai is the autobot faction leader, and looks like his Masterforce rendition, so his resemblance to Optimus is minor and more of a respectful nod than anything. He has some of the classical wisdom of a prime, but he’s a hothead when triggered. He’s fiercely loyal to those under his command and is still learning some self control, something that is tempered by his advisor and trusted friend, Cerebros. They have a brother-like relationship. Cerebros is, of course, the headmaster unit for Fortress Maximus. Fort Max is not city sized here and Cerebros is actually a bit small, maybe half the size of a normal transformer. He was a member of the ruling Council of Elders that guided Cybertron before the war (will get into this in another post). All in all, Ginrai is a well-respected commander and has a keen strategic mind, all of which was purposed when he was constructed just before the war broke out.
Gonna cut it short here before I write an essay on tangential topics lol
